Here maruti suzuki don't send their vehicles to crash test as most of them fail...they are all tin cans..famous for cheap quality...not expensive but one of cheapest cars here
Koenigsegg cars are brutally tested in a lot of ways, they are probably one of the safest high end supercars on the market
@@psych3009 no they aren’t. When someone spends multi million dollars on a car, its better to sell 2 cars while crash testing 15 than to sell 50 cars and crash testing absolutely zero in real.

Note that not all car safety testing facilities accept cars directly from manufacturers. Many facilities purchase them from random retail dealers, that way manufacturers can’t cheat by modifying their sent cars to appear as if they are more safe than what they actually may be off the production line.
It’s illegal to sell cars without crash testing them (or a recent year of the same model.)

the cost of the vehicles...some of it is the badge...some is R&D...so the company's cost of just the vehicles that get wrecked is a lot less than you'd ever pay for it at a dealership.

I always thought it was mandatory for a car to be crash tested prior to being sold, I know Lotus had a waiver on the Elise for awhile when it wouldn't meet U.S safety standards.. I think it didn't have airbags??
There are some exception in several regulations for small badge number cars.
To most, vehicles are nothing more than a necessary tool to get a particular job done efficiently and economically. To some, driving is a passion, a lifestyle, a statement and so much more. I can tell you the exact safety specs on my wifes suv we get around with the kids however I dont even know if my Porsche was ever crash tested and that is ok with me

Probably because people that can afford super or hypercars understand the rarity of what they purchase and they're rarely driven. For most they're just status symbols, and the rest are just car guys like anyone else and keep them in their multimillion dollar garages or museums.
