Believe me "living like an old person" is NOT a good thing! Sitting there watching TV is BAD for your body. And getting up to see which one of your friends is being hauled out for the last time on a stretcher is no fun either. I have a plan to escape and will be in my converted bus hopefully before Aug, And free to go wherever I want whenever I want and do the things I want to do. The grass is always greener somewhere else, but not here!!!!

I’ve been doing vanlife a couple of years now, I have the “I want a normal life in an apartment” thought often. Then I think about all the things I love about vanlife and it goes away. Love what you said about it being ludicrous not to try. Solid advice right there. Glad I found your channel!!

I, too, love a good yap session. You have hit really good points! I think perspective is the ultimate skill set to hone in life (in general) and applying it to "unconventional" dreams like van life builds that self-trust that WILL carry you through life in a healthy way. I realized more recently that you have your personal dreams for a reason & it is up to you to figure out what gaps you have in your toolbox to make those dreams manifest. A big one is mental fortitude. Van life/car camping/overlanding has for sure highlighted those shortcomings in an accelerated way. I suppose "survival mode" will do that to you but at least you get some beautiful views.

I discovered your channel last night. I don't like to jump in in the middle so I started with your first video and I am up to "Why Minivan Campers are great vehicles for vanlife" from 2 years ago. I said all of that to say this.... you are adorably weird (in a great way), whackily (yeah that's not a word) funny and super cute. I fear I am in the midst of a severe girl crush.
Edit: It took a little while but I am all caught up. Watched and "liked" every video from years ago until now. All I have left to say is.... "More....need more videos!!"

Thanks for the Yap Session Madison. Unlike you, I don't possess the art of yappiness, but I'm glad you share your thoughts and feelings about your van life and what you learned about living on the road. You seem to have the right idea about always trying to remain the optimist. Solitude is fine but sometimes you need someone to tell that to.
If at times you deal with sadness , just remember "Sadness eventually flies away on the wings of time."
Have a great trip back home to Florida. 👣 🌴

I like doing 2-4 months at a time on the road and then when the weather gets really bad I rent a spot for 2-3 months.

Great video. Thank you. Wish your 4 month video was more detailed because that's the trip I will be taking in 2025 hopefully beginning in February. Start in Miami and head West via the lower states, enjoy California, Washington, Oregon, drive the North half of the US, visit family and friends in NY, Ma, RI, and Conn. Then go to a family wedding in NC in July 2025. I'm excited. Your videos resonate with me, they are helpful as I plan this trip in an SUV, smaller than your minivan. Oh well, let's see. 😅

I believe you are right about being fatigued after driving being caused more by the mental strain than any physical exertion (unless you are driving a large motorhome through 45mph crosswinds, that's a lot of both). Pearl Jam said it best "Bus driving's harder on your head than on your feet"
The level of "alert" also seems to play a part for me. When I'm driving a car on a sunny day I can easily do 4-5 hour stretches without stopping for anything but when it is raining or snowing I can't even do 2 hours without a break. Being on edge with less than ideal driving conditions just seems to take all of the energy. Driving the motorhome automatically raises the alert level because you are driving a heavier vehicle and in my case with a car being towed behind so I find no matter the weather or road conditions I tend to to limit the stretches to 1.5 to 2 hours.

My parents also get up and stretch every hour and a half to two hours on a trip. It makes a world of difference! And I’ll have to check out those songs!

PS Even though your editing has been basic recently the content is super quality and that’s what matters! You do have some great editing skills though for when you want to take all that time to do it but know we watch not because of the editing but for you (:
