Thanks for this ! I was trying to remove the ends when you just yank the insert out ! After 3 thousand videos showing me how to replace the whole blade, NOT THE INSERT / REFILL ! Thank you thank you thank you. 3 minute job when you know how !
this helped so much as i kept forcefully shoving it in i put it in gently like you and it worked like a charm. Thank you, as coming from a guy who uses brute force with everything.
I bought the inserts a few months ago and couldn't figure out how to remove the old one. Today after watching your video, it took me less than 2 minutes to replace both. Thanks a lot.
Thanks! These inserts are $8.40 at my dealer’s parts department, as opposed to $24 for a whole arm at NAPPA. I remember just changing the blades in the 80s and 90s, then they switched to purchasing the whole arm every time. I like not wasting material when you don’t have to!
The OEM arm is good quality as well. Much better than some of the aftermarket’s! It helps to spray or water down the rubber insert so it slides into the channels easier
As my friends put it, I’m more of a book guy than a screwdriver guy. Pretty simple tasks can baffle me, and I’m not alone in that. Videos like yours are really helpful.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. Oh and sorry to be that guy but access means a way of gaining entry as in I gained access to the vehicle by opening the door. excess means left over as in there is excess wiper blade that you can push into the wiper arm. Keep making the videos.
I didn't have time to do the inserts but I did save my OEM wipers. So next time I need to change wipers I will already have the OEM with new inserts. Thanks for the video it was very helpful.
I’m glad I could help you! I made a whole bunch of other videos on the Prius prime maintenance as well. So if you haven’t done, so, please subscribe and give me a 👍!
I was stranded on the side of the highway and you seriously made my life easier when the rain came and I couldn't drive any further because they don't sell these wiper blades in store. I ended up taking the blade insert and threading it like you did.
Thank you for this. I didn’t realize you could buy new inserts, so I just ordered new wipers. They came without installation instructions! Your video helped. I join the others in condemning Toyota for using proprietary wipers. I wanted to have the wipers replaced during an oil change. Easy, right? Nope. None of their universal wipers would fit.
Thanks for posting this video with part numbers. I wasted well over an hour at NAPA, Advanced Auto and O'Reilly's where the staffs were totally CLUELESS. Why Toyota went with this proprietary blade system is a mystery. The local Toyota dealer was also clueless telling me they ONLY stock "aftermarket" wiper blades and could NOT get me OEM parts.
Dude! Thanks for sharing this. I went to AutoZone and O'Reilly and big fail on replacements. Got the rubber dillys from Toyo and Thanks for the install vid. Appreciate it!
Thank u. U don't HAVE a rear wiper. My 2019 Limited DOES. My wipers are 4yrs old, and windshield's were fine, but rear was ripped so I replaced all of them. Rear is same length as passenger BUT built different. U have to reinstall 2 metal pieces that are length of wiper. So look closely. Got them at dealer & got correct parts. 👍✊🖖🇺🇸
Very useful! I just paid $120 for two wiper blades for my Range Rover and the tree hugger in me hates having to throw the old ones out. I wished I would have seen this video earlier. The cost is not a concern, but the fact that I have to throw out the whole wiper when I could have just replaced the rubber part.
There’s parts numbers that you can buy OEM equivalent. On Amazon, I have also been able to buy the complete set just type in Prius prime windshield wipers.
I was looking for a release-tab on the ends of the wipers like I'd seen on my older cars, to slide the blade-inserts out with, and couldn't figure it out on my Prius (2016 Two Eco). Thanks for this vid, I learned that the ends don't release, but that it would be an easy job anyway. I haven't really touched much on my car in years, but managed to get this done in about a minute each. Though, man, the prices have gone up. The rubber inserts were, despite being vastly different in size, both the same price: $13.19 each from the dealer 😱🤨 But, still, would've been more to replace the whole blade, and, more crap in a landfill. Glad to be able to avoid that.
If you’re willing to replace the blade assembly Trico ExactFit and TricoUltra high-performance beam blade fit the arm connectors. The Prius Prime has the narrower 19mm slot the blade connector slides into which makes it hard to find compatible wiper blades.
Good know and thanks for sharing. I am testing out some brands to see what works well. Some are poorly made and vibrate when wiping. but I have not tried the trico yet! I will try those as well
Instead of struggling with trying to get the ends in, just take a small eyeglass screwdriver and push it into the channel. I did both on my wife's car in about 10 mins. $29 for both at the dealer.
One small observation.....always lay the wiper arms carefully against the windshield....keeping them up like that , and an accidental tap.....they will go down and Crack your windshield......believe me....I KNOW !
If my videos help you, especially this one please consider giving me a thumbs 👍 up. Or a $5 super thanks! That way I could buy myself a cup a coffee!

this helped so much as i kept forcefully shoving it in i put it in gently like you and it worked like a charm. Thank you, as coming from a guy who uses brute force with everything.
Glad I can help! It’s even easier if you actually get it wet with water first.
Thank you so much . I was getting ready to disassemble the whole damn arm. lol
Yeah, it was confusing at first! I’m glad my video helped you out. Don’t forget to like and subscribe it helps me out a lot!

I didn't have time to do the inserts but I did save my OEM wipers. So next time I need to change wipers I will already have the OEM with new inserts. Thanks for the video it was very helpful.
Definitely reuse them! Also, it helps a lot to get it wet before you insert the refills. Thanks for watching!
This was very helpful for replacing the driver blade on my 2018 Prius Prime. Thank you so much.

Glad you made it back safe! I wish Toyota would make the replacement parts more common.
bought 2 blads from NAPA p/n 6016fz, 6028fz 100% compatible with the arms

Yes, I do hope they change and redesign the windshield wipers, so that we can use more universal types!
thank you
You’re welcome! Please subscribe it really helps me out. I still have the Prius and will keep updating more content in the future.
Thanks so much, worked as advertised on a 2018
Well done. I have replacement inserts on order and your instructions should help in getting those installed without too much trouble. Thanks!
Glad it makes your life easier! Don’t forget a thumbs up it helps me tremendously!
Also if you get the new wipers wet it slides on much easier as well!

Holy smokes! A Toyota dealer couldn’t replace your wiper blades? That’s nuts.
Thank you so much, very clear and helpful

Much cheaper than buying the entire blade assy.👍
Thank you... really helpful
You’re very welcome!
Thanks man 👍🏼
No problem 👍
Yeah, it's always hard to insert it the first time, even when it's still young. Unless you apply some lubricant......
Thanks for the part number.
Thank you for the video bro it was a paint in the butt figure it out
Thank you!
You’re welcome! Checkout my other maintenance videos as well!
Do you have a part number for the replacement rubbers?
You will have to see the part number in the video. It is there.
Instead of struggling with trying to get the ends in, just take a small eyeglass screwdriver and push it into the channel. I did both on my wife's car in about 10 mins. $29 for both at the dealer.
Also I got it wet with water and it slide in super fast as well! Thanks for extra tips!
Can anyone link these on Amazon?
One small observation.....always lay the wiper arms carefully against the windshield....keeping them up like that , and an accidental tap.....they will go down and Crack your windshield......believe me....I KNOW !
Or lay your floor mats onto your windshield
How much for a pair of new rubbers?
Less then $8 each from
Www.Toyotapartsdeal.com plus shipping costs. Check it out
$8 but shipping is $9.48!!!
Dealership price is ok too if there is one nearby.
@@MarkfromLodiCA sucks that Toyota had to make the parts difficult to find. Wish they were more universal and cheaper.
I went to a Toyota dealer and used my Costco card to get 15% off from the list price but I forgot how much they are. Should be less than $10 each
God bless you
Thanks I hope you found this useful!
👍
Thank you!
Thank you for the videos.
