Good tutorial! It never occurred to me that the J-hook would break the windshield if the arm comes down but stands to reason that it would. I actually got a pair of those wipers from Costco several years ago because they looked like high quality wipers at a great price. However, after opening them and seeing all those parts I decided to take them back and have my local auto parts store replace them. 🤣 It's funny because here in AZ we have to replace them due to dry rot......seriously! The intense sun dries out the rubber and then on the rare occasion you need your wipers, the rubber just falls off and you're left with a scratched windshield from the metal arm scraping across before you can get the wipers turned off. 🥵
Thanks for the video I'm glad you went step by step because the instructions that came in the box read more about all the different parts vs how to install it. Thanks for the tips because it was counter intuitive
Thank you so much for your tutorial. My blade rubber did the same thing as yours. The extra parts didn't throw me, however, the instructions that were not helpful. You are a blessing.
Thank you for this videos, I was so confused on the extra little pieces and started getting frustrated. This video was super easy to follow through with and super informative!
This seems like a much better design than the old one Michelin wipers from Costco, they weren’t absolute trash but they weren’t good imo. One of them broke off in a snow storm.
I never know if the extra money for "dealer blades" are worth the quality difference. In Southern California, the rubber breaks down in 2-3 years anyway.
@@gfotinakes316 Out here in the mid-west I feel like we’re lucky to get a year out of wiper blades. I had a set out on like 6 or 7 months ago at the dealer and they’re still doing really well which is pretty good for out here.
Great Video, It Really helped me, I was struggling with other parts which came with wiper blades and now i know those are not needed for J shaped hook.
. . . good great suggestion about the towel . . . AND, good solid images in your video of the "details" that your arm nor hand covered while you were describing . . .
Sorry about that! I told someone today that so many people have thanked me for saving their windshields, and it was all made possible by me breaking my windshield on my first video!
I am glad it worked for you. Don't worry about the click, sometimes it does not happen. I don't know about those tabs. Check to see if it seems tight before you go 70mph.
The required C2 connector was prominently marked something like A2, but upon closer inspection, it was also marked PN C2. I feared the C2 connector was not included with the Michelin Guardian wiper blades from Costco, but they were, & I was able to innstall them. Between the vague intructions & the connectors having dual markings, I'm sure many with side-lock wipers needlessly return them.
Returning these blades. I bought Michelin blades from Walmart 3 months ago. I had to replace one because a storm bent it. Today the wiper blades do not match the ones they sold months ago. So now my blades don't match and I have to replace every one of them to match, and I will buy a different brand.
like most items that work as a pair, I always buy two, the driver's side and the passenger side. Also, I double checked sizing as applies to which side the wiper blade is being installed . . . my passenger side blade is bigger than the driver's side . . .
Why don't they standardize the installation? I'd replace my blades more often if it wasn't such a pain figuring each out. 7 vehicles and I think each is different in some manner. And then different year/brand blades can be different. Guess they really don't want people to replace them.
I hate to sound negative, but I believe most companies do what is easiest and most cost-effective for themselves. The companies will not lose sales if wiper blade attachments are not conventional. I agree with you, they are a pain to deal with.
Ughhh wish I would have watched this towel trick first. I did the identical thing and cracked my windshield. Any money saved by doing it myself and costco savings is outweighed by my new windshield cost.
WHY? Do most of the wiper videos videos say COSTCO wiper blades??? I promise you WalMart sells many many more wiper blades than COSTCO. Doesn’t make sense.
The Costco blades are typically $7-$10 depending on the sale or normal price. Normal price is $10. And the quality is significantly better than anything Walmart has for the comparable price.
Thank you! You were the only video I could find that explained the extra pieces in the box. I was so confused

You're welcome! It sure makes me feel good as I am nearly 75 years old and I can still be helpful to folks. Drive safely.

You are so welcome! Thank you for taking the time to offer a compliment.
Thank you for the information. You are right so many parts inside the package -- useless. Easy explanation and thorough. God bless
You are welcome! May God watch over you all the days of your life!
The rolled towel is a great tip. Also the encouragement to break the plastic clip on old blade was helpful.
Thank you for the positive feedback...it keeps me going!

@@gfotinakes316 In seattle, we replace annually whether we think they are done. They get really wet in the winter and dry out in the dry summer.

I wish I had watched your video first. I had to replace my windshield because I did not know about the towel! Cost close to $300.00
Sorry about that!
I told someone today that so many people have thanked me for saving their windshields, and it was all made possible by me breaking my windshield on my first video!
Thanks George! I also was worried by all the additional parts, thought I was doin something wrong when they seemed unnecessary
Your welcome! Safe driving and happy summer!
I was wondering what I needed to do with the spare parts. Thank you for the informative video!
I just put them in the recycle bin. They have no value unless you have a wiper design other than the "J" hook design. Drive safely!
Thank you, I struggled, confused with extra parts. It is so simple.
Glad you figured it out. The extra parts are for another model.
Thank you so much for showing this. It was super helpful

Outstanding directions very detailed!

My new Costco Michelin Blades did not make a click sound when I installed, but they feel locked in place.
One year mine did not click either but they stayed tight and in place.
Thank You for your comments. Excellent.

to uninstall the older costco, you need to separate the plastic seal piece. The new Michelin is much easier.
Great!

It's totally different that the last one.
I have not noticed a change in the "J" hook design in the last 5 years.
Thank you!

Mitch blades melt on windshield don’t use
Do you live in Nevada or Arizona? I have used these blades for many years in Southern California without evidence of melting.
WHY? Do most of the wiper videos videos say COSTCO wiper blades??? I promise you WalMart sells many many more wiper blades than COSTCO. Doesn’t make sense.
I personally use Costco blades so I use them to make my videos. It sounds like you have given me a good idea! Thanks!
There is a line of Michelin wiper blades that are exclusive to Costco. I think they’re called Guardians. Don’t think you can buy them anywhere else.
The Costco blades are typically $7-$10 depending on the sale or normal price. Normal price is $10. And the quality is significantly better than anything Walmart has for the comparable price.
i had my wife do it without a towel. I was at the beach with he towel
Okay?
No covers for the hooks . Cheap
They are cheap, only $7.99 and they work!
hey, you didn't show how to replace rear windshield wiper
I need to try that!
I failed it broke. Wasted my money on these
Sorry, make sure to return it to Costco for a full refund!
