Best video ever. It makes sense to replace the rubber inserts only. It saves money and waste of a perfectly good insert holder. I went to the Honda dealer for genuine Honda rubber inserts, two fronts for $24.00.
Bro your’e a legend, took me a while to find a good video like this just replacing the fillers, god knows why all the videos out there are videos on how to replace the blades to non OEM ones 🤦♂️. Thanks again.
Watched about 20 videos on how to replace a rear windshield wiper blade and rubber on my 2014 Honda accent and all of them sucked except this one video so thank you very much sir whoever you are I really appreciate you you are so helpful you explained everything in detail I had no problem and it was so much more clear cuz the other videos are just ridiculously unhelpful. Thank you so much this is a great video please subscribe to him
I love the way he talks, but more importantly I really appreciated his explanations of WHY to do things a certain way. Even if you're not looking to replace just the blades (e.g., you're just replacing whole wiper), the tip on how to get the back wiper off was worth it.
Thank you! Just changed the rear wiper on my Mitsubishi Outlander. I bought a rain-x wiper assembly, of which I just took out the wiper insert and replaced my stock one. Very easy with your video, lesson learned for next year though...just replace the insert, not the whole blade assembly.
+Kevin Vellanoweth Your welcome. Isn't it a silly game we have to play. All we need to replace is the rubber, but they make us buy a bunch of metal and plastic also. Thanks for the comment.
Easy to follow directions, and much appreciated. When I got the replacement for my rear wiper and all I saw was the rubber strip by itself, I wondered what the heck there was to do !! This explained it all.
❤❤❤ Thank you for your video! I replace the refills on a 2014 Honda Pilot EX. Cost $14.00 from local honda dealer. I didn't need to cut anything! Perfect fit! Thanks again! God bless you, Brother!!!
WOW Great video and thorough explanation. Here is another tip. I just cut the rails that came with the new inserts by putting them side by side with the old rails and marking them and cutting them to the exact length. I never would have just replaced the inserts without your video. Thanks.
Yes. Good tip. I have had to do that from time to time. The metal inserts are made of stainless steel, so they are great to hang on to for making and repairing other things. I have a pile of them ;-)
Thank you so much! This really helped and made it a lot easier to replace the rubber-thing on my car. Have watched a lot of videos but this one is absolutely most helpful 😃👍🏻
Thank you for showing me all you got to do is slide out the rubber part and slide it back in instead of trying to dismantle the whole arm and put the whole arm on I wasted so much time watching you as a godsend thanks again
thanks for the great video. very clear and well narrated. it's been pissing me off that dealers and auto parts store always push you to buy a whole new blade when all that wears in the rubber insert.
Lmao I feel sтupid right now, I own pretty rare car where I live and I though I need to buy dedicated rear wiper every time. These rear wipers are rare + expensive I accidentally discoved I can take the rubber out. I'm glad I didn't throw out the old one, thank you for this tutorial
They can really charge a lot for that extra plastic. And the old ones just go in the landfill. They'll last for several years just refilling the rubber.
Thank you. I was struggling & just about to give up until I found your video! It still took a bit of patience but you saved the day. Next time will be a breeze.
Excellent viseo. I just replaced my rear blad "the hard way" before watching your video DUH.. Anyway, I sprayed a bit of soapy water on the new blasde. Made. it slide a bit easier.
great tips. My had to swap out the blade as the wiper attachment on my 2018 CRV had a funky attachment. Bought a new 12" Trico but the whole thing would not fit.
If I might add, I spray silicone and it slides through like crap thru a goose, but, if you do it dry and you miss a grove I just use a flat screwdriver (very small) to just push the rubber under the plastic lip ... Aloha!
God idea. Most of the silicones are ok. A few might have petroleum based solvents in them that may cause problems with rubber. A tad of dish soap in water may be safer.
The challenge I have is to ID the rubber to buy online. They have different width? Mine is off a 2005 mini cooper rear wiper. It measures 6.8mm. Also, can all rubbers be cut to length? It seems some has closed end.
There are at least 3 different wiper claw profiles. (6mm square, 7mm trapezoidal, 8mm square). There may be more. Tricoproducts.com makes the break-to-fit wiper refills that are/were in some auto parts stores. You may have to ask for them at the counter. Some do have retaining ends. Usually only at one end. Sometimes in the metal ribs/slats, sometimes built into the rubber. Put the retaining end closest to the pivot point of the arm (not the pivot of the blade). Cut the opposite end off. Some rear wiper blade (not insert) designs have a tab built into each end that keeps the insert from slipping out. If you have to break one of them to replace the insert, break the one closest to the pivot point. The tab on the far end will keep the insert from slipping out.
+Omar Turkostani Most manufacturers have changed to this style, but a few still use the old style that is more like the front wipers. There could also be a few oddballs out there ;-) What type of car do you have?
+Omar Turkostani I did an image search for that. Looks like some use the new style and some use a strange style I have not seen. The arm style will depend on the manufacturer. I noticed some of the blades have 3 claws and some have the 4 claws. The number of claws will depend on who makes the blade.
It looks a bit cumbersome to get the rubber inserts to slide through the claws. Would adding some lubrication make it easier? A bit of soapy water would make it slippery but would still rinse off easily when you're done. I just replaced the entire blade on my car, but will try just the refill next time.
It is a little difficult the first few times you do it. Soap makes it go in the claws easier but it also makes the rubber hard to hold onto ;-) It is a tradeoff between time, convenience, money, and feeling a little better about keeping crap out of the landfill. If you only do one car or truck a year, it may not be worth it to you. I end up doing 3 or 4 a year so it is worth the effort for me.
Yes! this is what I wanna know. I bought some refill rubber on ebay and it's VERY rudimentary. ZERO FRILLS deffo no plastic clips. I tried to look up 'plastic claw clips wiper refill' and got nothing but some weird hair clips..So if you ever worked this out Ali lemme know!
@@fixpro256 oh yeah! I did it today was just about to leave in the comments that it all went fine without the clips. Was a bit of manoeuvring to get the rubber through along with the metal rails but its all good now and working fine🖒
I haven't seen them online. But I haven't looked. They come with every standard wiper you buy, but they are various widths depending on the wiper design. I like to keep them when I throw a wiper away because they are made of stainless steel. They are handy for making parts for other projects.
Thank you!!!! Spent 10 minutes being frustrated, then watch this video. Took less than a minute to do once I had the knowledge.
....dont worry...men get frustrated with em also....🤣😂

Wow! Thanks for all the nice words. Glad it helped.
Very nice. These shorter rear window wipers are a pain in the neck to refill.
Eight years later this has helped me thanks alot
Much better than most videos. I appreciate the camera work, announcer, and complete coverage.
Yet another example of car manufacturers making basic maintenance unnecessarily difficult. Thanks for the video.

Constructive and insightful instruction - made the task much easier and less time consuming than it otherwise would have been. Kind regards.

Great video, saved $10. I used just the rubber from a new blade I had laying around from my previous car.
too good man !! changed my blades refill today.. entire assembly was not available in the market.. a big thumbs up !! thanks!!
Thanks for sharing this very useful tip.
I will try this, but with liquid dish wasing soap on the rubber to help the sliding.

fixpro256, You have the patience of a saint. If I only had 1/4 your patience, I'd be doin' great! Thanks for the video.
Thank you. I was struggling & just about to give up until I found your video! It still took a bit of patience but you saved the day.

Thank you.
I was able to replace the rubber so easy, after I wached this video 😊.
Excellent narration and video! Should serve as a model for instructional videos.
Great video---its a job that would be impossible to explain.
I’ve just replaced my rear wiper following your instructions ... many thanks xxx

*Thank you, sir!!*
I will try this on my van.
Kindly advise how to remove rear waiper motor from glass of Indica Vista and how to refill water for cleaning the glass
Sorry, I have never worked on an Indica Vista
+fixpro256 I just changed it following your instructions though it was a bit different. Thank you
+Omar Turkostani Most manufacturers have changed to this style, but a few still use the old style that is more like the front wipers. There could also be a few oddballs out there ;-) What type of car do you have?
+fixpro256 My dad's car is a 2006 toyota previa, it has two rails as your video but without the plastic clips and only three claws not four.

Pain in the ass. But your video helps a lot thanks.
So helpful.thnks
And where to get the plastic clips also
The plastic clips only come with the break to fit wipers.
@@fixpro256 I am sorry, which break

Hi fixpro256. Can I refill without those little plastic clips to 'hold it all together' as you say...or will it all just come apart??
The plastic clips just help hold everything together to make it easier for you. So, yes, you can refill without the plastic clips.
@@fixpro256 oh yeah! I did it today was just about to leave in the comments that it all went fine without the clips. Was a bit of manoeuvring to get the rubber through along with the metal rails but its all good now and working fine🖒

Where can we order the steel rails online
I haven't seen them online. But I haven't looked. They come with every standard wiper you buy, but they are various widths depending on the wiper design. I like to keep them when I throw a wiper away because they are made of stainless steel. They are handy for making parts for other projects.

5 stars
Thank you!
nvm other options work much better
Wet it
buying a new blade.... not worth the effort.
Dislike. Not any help
Very helpful thank you.
Very useful, thank you
Thanks great explanation
Very helpful, Thanks!
brilliant video thanks
