Could you guys make an episode describing pours you've always wanted but never been able to try/own? Could be dusty bottles too. I'm always curious what others with large collections still have yet to experience and desire to!
Bonded is under $30 and TM is $35 in my area. At those prices, I really prefer the triple mash. It’s different, but for my taste/preferences, it brings a lot of the best elements of JD sour mash and rye together. I don’t experience the malt like the BJ’s describe, instead it just sort of blends with the rest to make something more unique than a Bourye or a barely legal rye. I like those kinds of whiskeys, but in the end, they seem a lot like a really high-rye bourbon more than a totally unique thing. Triple mash is totally unique. Might not be for everyone, but I really enjoy. It’s probably my favorite under-$40 new release in awhile, but I’m a bit of a JD Stan. Anyway, this is a good review by the Junkies. I think it’s possible that their opinion of the bottle will evolve more by EOY if they keep tasting it. My guess is that This bottle will be on many year-end lists.

I'm not sure about the playdough note that Sean says he gets. I'm not finding that at all. To me it drinks a lot like a bourye, but also (crazy as it sounds) has a hint of a Scotch note to it with maybe even a whisper of something like peat or maybe some salinity. Don't be scared by that note. It is very faint and maybe just what I'm picking up because I do drink Scotch also. Maybe what I perceive as this peat or salinity whisper is what Sean says is playdough.
I bought both of these in the 700ml. The Bonded was $27.99. the Triple Mash was $29.99. JD says this is an add to their regular lineup. Some stores, as usual, are treating it as a super limited, highly select buy. It's not. The same retailers are selling other selections for 5-10 times retail. I overheard a vendor tell one of these owners they wouldn't be getting any more of some items unless they started selling their in stock inventory. Apparently, 15 times retail is not desirable.
That triple mash 100% need to breath. Got a bottle 3 weeks ago and have had a sample every week and have had a different taste every week. On the 3rd week I got honey roasted peanuts coated in coco with a vanilla oak finish. Bottle is wild and has changed and been pleasant every week. I would say it’s worth the try and a pick up if you can get around $40

The bottles in Michigan are liter bottles. I was thrown off by how much more they were until I saw the volume difference. The cost works out similar to the 700ml.
I like it and at first I thought it was oaky but not so much on second try. I think revisiting bottles for the actual review is so critical because every bottle I’ve tried the second option is usually a different take

I don't get chocolatey malt at all on this. More like sour Cheerios. Or a bucket of grain you forgot about and it got a little wet and started to turn sour. Vastly prefer the bonded.

BP won of course and then the store pick in 2nd. Got both TM and Bonded for under $35 and I think theyre gonna be there just to be there; neither are ones I like in any way
@@andrewlowden322 I guess I have different ideas about them. The BiB doesn't have much complexity but is strong sweet banana for me whixh i like. The 3ple mash has a spicy kick and more complexity. Thinking about blending them. My goto is BP as well btw
@Bourbon Junkies Dan or Sean, is your bottle 750ML? Ours is 700ML. I thought someone said Michigan does not allow 700ML so that might be part of the price discrepancy if it is 750ML. Let me know...

Here's the problem: it's $30 and $33 here. Rare Breed is $45 and WT101 is $22. They are 750's and this is 700ml. Yes, both new versions are better than standard #7 but there are just way too many other products that are readily available for less or slightly more depending on where you live. The 1L bottle of the 100 standard Bonded is $42. 1.75 of WT101 is $41.
Brother sometimes its more about a taste thats different than an exact dollar amount as being a better value. Rare Breed is my alltime goto but i love both of these bottles in their own way. Just a different flavor. JD vs WT. Depends on the day😄

Banana bread with chocolate on top? There is such a thing where the chocolate chips are IN the banana bread. I could send you my grandma's, and 5 of my friends' grandma's recipes if you'd like. That is the nose though, 100%.
This review and all the comments really just go to show how palates vary. There's no right or wrong, just extremely subjective. I bought a bottle of this at $33, drank it within in a week, grabbed second bottle and it's half gone. All while I have 50 bottles open on the shelf. I found the uniqueness of it to be the driving appeal. I get more of a honey bunches of oats with dehydrated strawberries cereal note that just speaks to me. Maybe I like malt to a degree and didn't even realize it.
Nearly all whiskeys are Sour Mash. It's the name of the process that whiskey is made. There are only 2 known distillers in North America that are known to use the sweet mash method, Wilderness Trail and Peerless. *EVERYONE* else uses the sour mash process. Outside of North America, I don't know of any sweet mash distillers.They may exist, I'm confident they do exist. I'm just not aware of any.
$35 here, I've blown money on far worse... I really enjoy the Bonded but both are good. Not a go to at that price point, really think they should be $20...but worth trying.

Total agree with the American Single Malt notes in this one. The grain from the malt just comes through too strong.

If you guys are still in MI, it’s $49 for a liter on state min. You probably found the 700ml out of state as I only see liters here.
Yea but getting more isn't a benefit to me, even at it being the full liter it just doesn't do anything for me. It's still only decent at best

Yea with this being 3 whiskies mashed together this one is going to be so much more individual than a lot of other things on the market

If you are in Michigan the higher price is because we have liter bottles here, not 700ml.
