Loved the single barrel and can't find it anywhere so I tried the Bonded and really like it. I'll be buying more. JD has really come out swinging lately and that's a good thing
Hi Matt!! Great review. Here in Michigan I got both. $44 for the bonded. $47 for the triple. What the heck?! They’re both liter’s! The bonded is really nice. Smokey nutty banana bread. Dark. I sorta get a biscuit or angel food cake on the triple mash. Then is topped with cherry vanilla or an almondy banana mint. I feel like the bonded is somewhere between single barrel and the standard offering. Great show. Love the content.
That Triple Mash is phenomenal. I am not a big Jack guy, but I like their single barrels and ryes. I would love for Jack Daniels to release that malt as it’s own whiskey.
@@ilikejelloyay208 there was a label leak earlier this year. Each year they do a holiday release, and from what was uncovered it suggests their seasonal offering for 2022 is going to be the single malt. I'd love to get excited about it, except my state is competitive and I wasn't able to get the last two years :(
This man is going to be a good whisky story teller when he becomes a grandfather. I can just imagine him telling well structured whisky fairytales beside a fireplace. Now what would he use to feed the fire since the man has good taste. I reckon he would use broken down oak barrels that housed the strongest whisky known to man. But if the oak wasn’t doing it’s job he would chuck in some whisky to give the fireplace some extra humph.
The Triple Mash hit PA for $40. I didn’t realize it was a 700ml bottle. I’m gonna hope to grab a pour somewhere to taste before I buy. I’m hoping the Bonded hits PA soon, that’s an immediate buy
Yeah, Rob S., I feel they shouldn't cheat us out of a measly .50 ml., what the crap! is it gonna kill 'em 2 spring for a drop of juice 🤔nice comment and I'm gonna spring for both! Cheers 🍻 👏 hey Matt Porter, "down the hatch" w/ a small batch, U beeyatch!🤔🤣🤣💯🤙
I purchased the bonded today at total wine and more for $29.99 The flavor is heavy on the seared corn husk, but not offensive at all. It's a less hot version of JD's single barrel, barrel proof. Try it. You wont be disappointed. This review of the triple mash sounds a lot like wild turkey rare breed or single barrel, so I look forward to trying the jd triple mash.
I just compared the 10 Year and BIB and these are my personal thoughts. 10 Year has that funky plastic/play-do note on the nose like Michter's Rye....I like the BIB nose more. Palate: 10 Year is more complex and rich; BIB is pretty damn good...especially considering cost and availability. Finish: 10 Year lingers so much longer; BIB has a muted finish that is much shorter. I'll definitely grab another BIB bottle when this one is gone.
I've had both with my Dad who is a True JD Black 80 proof guy... He as well as I really liked the Triple Mash .... Bonded Black Label was Excellent as well. Love You Man ❤️👊
My go-to and unsponsored fave car charger is the NOCO Boost HD GB70. Really nice, compact little package that has a light also allows you to charge iPhones or computers in a pinch. Lots of good products out there like this. I can hook my NOCO into my portable tire inflator or automated whiskey glass spin job or clear ice machine while on the road too. So I have that going for me, which is nice.
Never liked Old No. 7 or Gentleman Jack, but they killed it with the single barrels. I'll definitely buy both of these and try them. I like single malt so I'm really interested in that one, especially as an approachable gateway into malt for my friends.
700 ml is the size sold in many foreign markets (including most scotch whisky sold overseas).. I heard there's a push to get the US to switch to this size.
I heard the US gov't opened up to allowing that size. The good is it'll allow us to get some scotch and other things that were doing 700 in their countries and not willing to bottle 750's for the US. The bad, is everyone will probably switch to it, so we're going to lose 50 ml and still probably see the prices continue to rise.
Looking forward to the Bonded, Single Barrel, 10 year comparison. Another possible skirmish? Jack Daniels Bonded vs 1792 Bottled in Bond. It's been over a year since I've had 1792 BIB, but from memory it was banana heavy and very good. I did get banana on the Jack Bonded.
I've done a blind with SiB Select and Bonded along with Old No 7. Bonded is less nutty than Old No 7 with a lot more of the banana and fruity notes standing out. The Single Barrel Select feels very similar but introduces some more oaky notes. The SBS is more complex and it's clear there is more going on. The Bonded is going on my list as a regular sipper because it is priced right and I like the sweeter ones to start my night. SBS feels more like something you want to have when you just want more from your glass.
as I frequent the whiskey vault and tribe I estimate the sacrilege of hearing you complete a sentence will probably not go unpunished. I thought they were weird...
OMG! This could have been titled "Horror stories as read by Matt Porter!" I was actually almost ready to click off this video because of the scary book...until you got to the part that said "providing a standard of excellence and providence"...I mean, just saying PROVIDENCE is somehow soul calming and affirming that now, because the Government intervened, WHISKEY would be all right. Whew...what a ride!
Thanks Matt! We’ve had bonded here in 🇨🇦 for years, but with a rather cheap looking gold label. It was about $32 CAD when I picked it up a couple of years ago and I thought it was good value at that price. Is this bonded a re-release?
I just picked up a bottle of the Bonded to try (only $30 - why not?). I did compare it to the Single Barrel Select (94 proof), and while I still prefer the taste of the Single Barrel, I can taste the depth of even just that extra 3% ABV in the Bonded.
Matt do you think the cheerio note could be a youthful grain from maybe the youth, or is that malted barley just coming out to play? The way they wrote the description saying it was aged to the correct "stipulations", which feels like they hit 4 years and called it done, which might explain also how there wasn't much barrel influence. Love the videos homie, keep em coming and keep me laughin
Which Vanborghini do you own? I’m guessing the Aventa4Door SJ (spin-job). Classic. Bad electrical systems on those Italian cars, though, so onboard booster is mandatory. Little known fact: they also run on premium EVOO.
Had a tasting with the distributor. Supposedly, more plans for 700ml in the works. I looked at him and said, “what, you think you guys are in Europe?!”…..
Waiting with bated breath to buy both of these bottles. We need a bourbon skirmish and blind battle of all of the JD 'bourbon' expressions that are not Ole No. 7. Who shall reign above all?!?
I found the triple mash to be really nice and unique for the line. Worth the 35$. The bib I thought was just hotter no 7. Tasted grainier too. Hard pass on that one for me.
One day, Matt, you will have a nice long th’ow-yo-head-back laugh about matters of simple needs (batteries). You’re growing, you’re networking, you’re constantly coming up with new spirits and activities for your viewers, and you make it all so enjoyable. Your videos make you want to reach down in your penny pinched pocketbook and splurge on spirits. Tonight is Tin Cup Ten Year night. I can hardly wait to see how an upper 8 tastes.
What percentage of people buying these whiskeys will actually read the marketing schlock in these products? Single digits, and by that I mean zero to one percent. So why? Well, it’s them talking to themselves. It’s like the current corporate fad to have a slogan. They pay marketing people to come up with self-aggrandizing slogans that they pitch to senior executives to fluff them. But I could be wrong, and by that I mean I’m probably wrong. As a retired guy who lived long enough to be cynical about stuff like this, my dream job is to be the sloganeer for bourbon releases so I could create slogans and narratives that are subtly funny, ironic, cynical, self-deprecating, and something that people would actually read in order to find the little Easter eggs of mockery. Marketing people are lemmings. Real marketing, that which would actually increase sales, is all about going counter-lemming while mocking lemmings.
While I COMPLETELY respect the tradition and reason for “bottled in bond”… I think we can all agree it’s completely useless at this point. If it detracts one penny from consideration, quality, packaging or taste… I fail to see the use. But I’m practical like that.🤷♂️👍🥃
Yeah, the only thing I see with it, is I don't have to think it'll be super young or 80 proof. Easy way to know it'll be 100 pf and at least 4 years which is decent for a bourbon.
Jacks been stepping up their game for the nerds in the last few years and im not gonna complain about it.
They have a lot more in the works Aidan. They know the younger generations are not brand loyalist….
@@blakeanderson1214 thats because brand loyalty is dumb
Excellent video, thanks for posting it. I’ll be on the lookout for both of these.

JESUS!!! Your pearls of wisdom are PRICELESS!!!! I need to go to Lyunchburg and see if I can still get a Coy Hill bottle! CHEERS!
Great review, exactly what I was wondering- looking forward to that skirmish

NGL, i'm glad you mentioned the jump starter pack because I'm 100% going to order one now
Just had a sip of bonded, and you're spot on. Would love to see a skirmish with Benchmark bonded and the new Early Times.
Story time put me to sleep... good thing I had my snuggy.... looking forward to trying them... Have a Wonderful Weekend
Very timely review i literally just bought a bottle of the bonded like 20 minutes before watching this.
I agree it's a good bottle for around $30.00 .
Matt you are the best! Really looking forward to the triple mash!
I enjoy the Bonded very much. I love the peanut notes on the finish.
I love the Roman haircut Matt. Needs a leaf crown and a "royal" purple toga. You'd be rockin' it! Russell Crowe eat on that!
That Triple Mash is phenomenal. I am not a big Jack guy, but I like their single barrels and ryes.
I would love for Jack Daniels to release that malt as it’s own whiskey.

Old Number 7 is phenomenal. Coldest take

Bonded was pretty good for $30. I just picked up triple mash today for $38 out the door (seems to be pricier everywhere).
Mix Bonded with some Barrel Select or Barrel Proof and see what you think. It's a great mix.
Still looks Freaking Fantastic in that old forester T shirt Mr Porter 🤟
You should do a head to head with JD B&B, 10year, Gold and Sinatra!!!
Excited to try these, thanks. Yea, I was wondering how the BiB compares w the SB. Good stuff.
Boom, our notes on the triple mash are very similar
Fine! I’ll get both!
Triple mash brought me back to JD. Love it 😊
I had the same issue with my vandergini as well
Gonna go buy a bottle of each and give them a try.

Looking forward to both. Wonder how long it will take to hit NY. 🤔
