I’m with Sean on this one. I was super pessimistic Handy would be worth the price. I was able to scoop one for $175 and figured I should crack it. Blown away with how sweet and layered the handy was. Powdered sugar, and candied oranges for days and it doesn’t drink anywhere near the proof. Blinded it against michters 10 year rye , EH Taylor straight rye, michters toasted rye and Jack Daniel’s BPR and for me the Handy was my favorite profile as it was so much sweeter than the rest and coats your pallet. If you like sugar you’ll like the Handy.
EH Taylor is a different mashbill. It's something like 65% rye and 35% malted barely. I believe this is also the Barton Rye recipe that was in the old High West and Kentucky Owl's. It may also be the same mashbill that goes into Fleischmann's Rye
Doesn’t someone else distill it for them? I heard that somewhere. They don’t even acknowledge the 5th mashbill for it on tours, because it’s made somewhere else.
Really funny timing on this - got to try my first THH just this past weekend at a bar for $30 USD for an ounce (it was the 2020 one I believe). Man the persistence of sweet, complex flavour on that thing was something kinda special, not a whole lot of bottles have that thing going for them.
We drank first release 2006 in Scottsdale together! It’s the only 8 year release AND head and shoulders better than every other vintage and it’s not close. 🥃💙 6:00
I have never poured thh for anyone that didn’t absolutely love it. THH is maybe the easiest BTAC to find and the more ppl that say its a B, makes it that much easier to find. I appreciate those ppl.
I have to say that I got a chance to try Saz 18 and it was one of the most complex and amazing whiskies I've ever had. I don't even mind that it's bottled at 90 proof. It had an exceptional mouthfeel, palate was honey, ginger, berries, baking spices, botanicals, cardamom, basil, black pepper, and a nice thread of sweet oak. All the spice notes really popped and tasted effervescent and tingly like pop rocks. Definitely in the "life-changing" whiskey category and solidified for me that rye can be just as exceptional as bourbon. I think y'all should revisit it if you get the chance! I will agree though that Handy, while pretty darn good, isn't life changing like the rest of the BTAC line. Amazing mouthfeel though.
In addition to bar price… can you ad what you’d pay for a bottle? There’s one sitting close for $499, and it’s crazy, but btac tax. Essentially $20 an ounce. I’m not paying that, unless it was wlw, but someone will.
My first drink of 2024 Handy blew me out of the water and I ranked it over 2024 GTS. Until GTS opened and then it blew Handy out. But I still love Handy.
As I understand it, E.H. Taylor is a high-rye mashbill that's produced at Barton, and is therefor a different mashbill than Sazerac 18, Baby Saz, Handy.
I won the right to buy a Handy this year at a big red liquor event. While I was at the store I also got a Sazerac Rye pick to compare it to the handy and it was exceptionally good. Tasted just like the handy at 90 proof while my regular sazerac rye was entirely different and not great
The ending was slightly confusing, was Sean saying the Emerald Rye wasn’t comparable to the Handy or the other way around? Either way I love the 2024 TTH but based on Dans recommendation maybe I’ll have to check out the Blue Run too 🤷🏻♂️
The guy who owns the liquor store I usually go to let me try a 2014 he has - he views it as the best rye he’s ever had. I’d agree, it was incredible. Drank way lower than the proof too. I’ve had a couple others but none were as good
A (now closed) local restaurant/bar near me had a decent collection and had a bottle of Handy as well. They were mostly a summer place with a nice outdoor area so were trying to drum up some business in December a couple years back. They offered half price pours. I was going to try a couple while my wife was out shopping. The pour was almost 2” deep in a single rocks glass. At 125 proof, I decided to stop after one. I think it was $25.
I really like this one! To me yes it is a young age statement but still drinks special and is worthy of being in the lineup. I think it’s actually undervalued at $400 on secondary compared to the rest of the BTAC
You guys said you would pay up to $20 a pour. LOL where? You guys keep saying these bullshit prices for pours and bottles. No bar is selling BTAC for just 20 a pour. Or selling BTAC bottles for MSRP. Stop it already.
I see a 2024 BTAC Blind as being a must for you guys. Rate best to worst for 2024.
I’d second that

Chocolate orange sounds delicious!

@marcusgaming7114 I'm pretty sure it's made at Barton. If you have a bottle of EH Taylor rye it has the DSP for Barton and BT on the bottle.
@ That makes sense. I haven’t the EH straight rye. I haven’t even taken it out of the tube yet.
@@marcusgaming7114 It used to be which is why the regular rye has two DSPs on it, but the BP rye from this year just has the BT DSP on it by itself.
Picked up a eagle rare 17 this year and fricking love it

Was lucky enough to be able to purchase a 2024 Handy and try 2024 Gts, both amazing incredible whiskeys. But im glad i got the Handy over the Gts
Had it last month and enjoyed it a lot. Can't go wrong with a BTAC.

2023 Handy was a monster.
Every review I’ve seen ranks 2024 higher
I have Saz Rye pick. I’ll bring it by next time
Found 2 oz pour the other day for $22, now I have to open my bottle

Nice! I have the 2023 THH and it’s great! My 2023 GTS is not that great. Cheers
I saw one of these while I was on vacation in Massachusetts and I should have bought it. It was $299.99

I have a Saz Rye Binnys pick, I can share some :)
Had a very healthy 2oz pour of GTS23 for $50 at a bar in Thibodaux, La last year. Couldn’t beat it
I’m actually a fan of that Emerald Rye 😂

How do you know the date on BTAC's?
Usually by the proof on the bottle.
I could have bought one for 160 but I had a 2020 and have a 2023 so I picked a Michter's 10 yr bourbon instead.
Gotta drink it blind. Everyone age hates handy when they see it, when we do BTAC blind, sometimes it wins, almost always top three. Consistent beast
Would to see some old Carter reviews
First!!! Oh snap!!! I get a Handy now!! Cheers
Give 'em a hand!!! Trace only has 4 mash-bills..... Look on the back of the Taylor Rye, DSP-12..... THH vs. Exodus 2!
I rated the WLW over the GTS this year but it was close and found that mixing them 50/50 was the bourbon of the year lol.
BR Emerald rye is my jam
EH Taylor rye is a different mashbill and there is a good chance it's actually distilled at Barton.
Would you rather have E.H TAYLOR SINGLE BARREL or STRAIGHT RYE??
EH Taylor rye has different DSP number
PLEASE START REVIEWING MILK!!! I need to know what milk to buy for my thirsty family 😢❤
3:38 "This doesn't scream Buffalo Trace" ... "It's so fruity!!" To me, fruity screams Buffalo Trace!
Are we still doing phrasing in 2025 y’all?
If you want a pour, it will cost you a handy 🤣
@@XoXoVENOMoXo😂
I have a Saz Rye pick If you would like to try
How much does one pay for a Handy😝
🎉🎉🎉
This video was built for Michael Scott
30 dollars for a pour of everymans whisky.....
DAYUM
Emerald rye can’t touch THH not even close!
I really like this one! To me yes it is a young age statement but still drinks special and is worthy of being in the lineup. I think it’s actually undervalued at $400 on secondary compared to the rest of the BTAC
EHT BP Rye IS FROM BARTON. It shouldn't even count as a buffalo trace whiskey.
21st.

There’s a bar in my city that has 1 oz of THH 2023 for $22
@PhilOverstreet then you should buy it all, cause you would be paying only 50% of secondary.
I like that hoodie, Dan... Hook me up homie!! (Or just have Brandon send me the link ;-)
