Isuzu Elf power steering leak fix. Fall trip up to Belfast Maine.

  • After driving around the tight streets of Pittsburgh PA I blew out my high pressure power steering hose and snapped the bolt that held the feeder line in place. I replaced both the high pressure hose, the feeder line and re-tapped the threads for the bracket.
After all that we did a good test run over night up to Belfast Maine for a little hike.
Next up I need to fix my speedometer. Looking for the proper speed gear for the speed sensor on an Isuzu Elf NHS69E 4JG2 engine manual transmission. If anyone knows what one I need let me know!

Thank you man! I just did my Powersteering hight pressure hose had to get one made because Isuzu couldn't get me the part here in Australia. My bracket was completely broken into two parts, so I had it welded together again. Fittet the hose outside to the bracket and pipe and then fittet the bracket to the engine (with the hose and pipe attached to it). Because it was impossible to get it threated in with the hose and bracket installed first, the bracket wasn't 100% aligned with the pipe. It took 2.5 hours to fit the bracket to the engine - its a tight spot and you need to be patient. I managed to top up the fluid witout removing the entire driver seat and everything else again. Here is how: With your left hand you can reach the fluid container to take the lid off. With your right hand and a syringe you can top up the fluid holding a torch with your left hand so you see where it goes. Great job Bobby! Thank you for sharing with the rest of us. 1996, U-NHS69EA, 4JG2 Safe travel!

I’m just starting the process of getting a JDM camper. Thank you so much for sharing so much good info!

That's awesome! No problem. What is the make and model of your camper?

@@bobbyswampfox I’m still starting the process of getting it through auction but I really want a Toyota Camroad however Isuzu Elf’s are more common. I like them both. My kids are going to be very tall soon so I need to get one of the campers with more inside height.

@@bobbyswampfox One more thing. How do you like your interior coin flooring? Is it comfortable on your bare feet? I was curious because I was thinking about getting the exact same flooring.

@@YallAintRight I like it a lot doesn't feel bad I usually have some sort of slippers or something on and I have a few rugs too but it's really easy to clean and it stuck down really good. Those Camroads are nice! I've been emailing someone who is waiting on his Elf to be delivered (just won at auction) but had his eye's on the Camroad too. You'll be totally set with either one. If I could do it again I'd go for the Outback Express camper version of the Elf that one has a one piece fiberglass shell my terra 500 has a few seams to watch out for

@@bobbyswampfox Thank you so much for the information! I love the outback express models! Especially with the door at the back. Do you mind if I ask who you went with to import yours? For the roof, there are no guarantees with auctions, but I really really really like the idea of having a solid shell at least for the top part of the roof to prevent leaks. Originally I was looking at a Scamp or Casita trailer for that reason, but as soon as I laid eyes on the Japanese fiberglass RVs, I absolutely fell in love. I love that they are built on medium duty trucks with a really tight turning radius. And I like the fact that I can pull into overnight parking and just crawl in the back without having to leave and set everything up by myself (single mom). Thanks again for all the great information. 😀

Hi bobi, I think that's your name?, I just fell in love with your camper, cool!. I want one too. The question is, did you repair it a lot, did it require a lot of repairs? Attachments? I do not know English, I translate through Google, I'm sorry. I'm waiting for an answer, friend.

It is a really cool camper! Thanks. It did take a lot of fixing up but nothing too bad for how old it is.

Bobby, I just reached out to Japan Car Direct about starting the process and mentioned that you recommended them. So exciting!
I have a question. What company do you use for your RV insurance?
If you have any advice for me, I would really, really appreciate it. I've done a ton of legwork, but there's nothing half as educating as first hand experience. Thank you so much for your videos.

Hey! Thanks for watching! Yea I use JP-carparts.com I just send them an email with my year model and VIN and they send me the info and if it looks good I order. I've gotten most things I can't find in the States from them. They are fast and OEM always. How is everything on your Elf? Have you ever replaced your speed gear? I would really like to get my speedometer working again haha.

You don't have part number for the alternator do you? I have a 96. They should be the same. Did you get the 5.5M or the 6.5M with the bunk beds in back?
