For the last guy, I am not surprised to hear that your brother doesn't talk much about his time in combat. That's not unusual. A lot of folks in his situation don't really know how to talk to others about what they've been through and are still going through because most of us who love them can't really relate because we've never been in a situation quite like theirs. I get the anger, the tears, the frustrations. It's not usual that God gets blamed or questioned after something like that. We can't fix that problem for them, but we can be a light for them. We can show them the love of God, even if they aren't ready to receive it. We can do our best to be there for them and walk patiently through this with them, and we can do our best to be a consistent example of what it's like to live as a sinner saved by grace, God's Grace. Time and consistent love, coupled with fervent and consistent prayer, are our best tools here.

To the first person who is looking for a spouse, I’m don’t think I would call you desperate. I would say that you need to be more balanced in your thinking, as I believe Granger said. On one hand, I have never been married and I would never want to be thought of as a person’s goal to accomplish. You might want to rethink that. Seeking a spouse should be about the potential relationship, not solely about the state of being married. With that said, I have to ask myself how actively searching for a mate is any different than actively searching for a job or anything else in life. I’m in my 40s and I often feel like we hold singles to a higher standard than we do other people. Usually, if a married couple can’t have a biological child, we don’t tell them to simply be content and wait on God. We applaud them for adopting or going through IVF, etc. If a person wants to advance in their job, we don’t tell them to simply be patient and wait. We encourage them to go get more training or to find a job where there could be advancement opportunities. I think it is absolutely fine to actively pursue a potential spouse, as long as you are pursuing women who follow after God‘s heart. Do not pursue a woman who is not saved. Do not pursue a woman who is already in a marriage relationship. Do not pursue a woman who does not share your values or your desire to please God . These are the types of things I believe you need to be concerned about. I believe that even in this day and age, it is the man’s responsibility to initiate a potential relationship so you do need to do something. Just keep a good balance of doing what you can, but also, trusting God with the results and not rebelling if God either doesn’t give you a spouse at all, or if it takes much longer than you think it should.

I am the emailer from the last question. I never intended to say I was on a higher level or scale than anyone. I meant I seek God everyday, I pray, I’ve knelt at the cross and fully understand the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I’m not sure how you were led to believe otherwise. My brother doesn’t care about religion much, he may or may not even believe in God, so I would say we are at different levels of faith. his rebuttal to my advice is why would God allow such tragedy. I know what to tell him but I’m just little bro to him and it doesn’t carry much weight. I do lead by example as he has seen me dedicate so much time and effort to a 12 step program and change my entire life around. (I am 2.5 yrs sober in recovery) The email was not about me. I thought if I shared your response and he heard you, a polarizing figure in Christianity and in music say the same things I do that maybe his ears would open a little more. (Isn’t that the purpose of your new journey?)
Instead i was told that I am
Not a Christian and I’m not going to heaven. I’m left speechless hearing that. I did not know trying to help a loved one made me a non Christian and undeserving of heaven. I would be embarrassed to share this video with him now. I appreciate your honesty and I feel dumb for making myself vulnerable on such a large platform. Speaking of honesty, if we were half as judgmental in AA as you were today I don’t think we would save a single alcoholic or addict and the seats would be empty , I would consider that in your next sermon on stage. Also a few episodes ago a woman asked about her devil worshiping son and he got defended more than I did ! Very confusing. Id love to chat more About it on the phone or have me as a live guest via FaceTime. After what you had to say I’m guessing you wouldn’t be interested in that. I worked my tail off today making those blue collar dollars and came home to feel shamed by one of my hero’s. Either way God bless and good luck on your journey In ministry. -Dan

One of the biggest problems with a forum like this is that it's very easy for misunderstandings to happen. I think this is what happened here. I think an in-person conversation would have gone very differently. Remember that Granger and Bernie are just men, fallible men. You will often hear them say that their responses could be wrong, especially because they're giving their responses off the cuff. I appreciate you being vulnerable enough to write in, and then also being vulnerable enough to put yourself out here again. I think I understand where Granger was going with his response, but I would have gone a different direction with mine, like the one you saw that I posted earlier. The most important thing that you need to remember here is that each of us has our own journey with God. Please continue to pray and study the Bible to determine what God has commanded each of us to do as His children. I wish you the best in your journey ahead, and I also hope things will turn around for your brother. Some paths take longer to travel, and we don't know the end yet. I write to you as someone who is just a sinner saved by grace.

God gives us what we need...most of the times that is not what we think we want, or when we think we want it. He's teaching you patience and He wants you to seek Him. FAITH WITH WORKS IS A SWEET SMELL
“What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”-and he was called a friend of God. For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.”
    ‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬-‭18‬, ‭20‬-‭23‬, ‭26‬ ‭
“And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?””
    ‭‭Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭7‬-‭8‬
    ABIDING
    HANGING ON FOR DEAR LIFE
    ABIDING
IF NOT … YOU ACHIEVE NOT
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.”
    ‭‭John‬ ‭15‬:‭4‬-‭6

The apostles Paul and Peter did a good job of questioning people's faith; Jesus certainly did. He called the Pharisees white-washed tombs. That was not a compliment! Any pastor who preaches salvation on a Sunday morning in a church filled with presumably Christian people questions people's faith. Anyone who is a missionary whose job is to share the gospel questions people's faith. I don't believe there is anywhere in the Bible that says questioning someone's faith is a sin. What would be a sin is to deal with someone else's lack of faith without addressing our own lack of faith (if we lack it).

  • @shamus248

49:38 it's true that there is no scale of belief, but we are *not* all wretched. We are inherently flawed and imperfect mortals, but we are born and live our entire lives that way, irrespective of what God we pray to or none at all. That does not make us "wretched" and "undeserving" of salvation, if it even exists.
I don't disabuse you or anyone of their faith, but I wish you'd stop regurgitating this emotionally and intellectually *limiting* philosophy that we are all inherently and intrinsically bad people. You can claim that's not what you're trying to do. But synonyms for "wretch", per Google, are "villain", "criminal", "good-for-nothing", "scumbag", "rat", "pig", "snake", "lowlife" and "swine", among many others.
If being those negative things is a product of our mere existence, than God doesn't get to pat himself on the back for loving us anyway. He *MADE* us that way. He could have very well made it so no one is that way. To speak to my own spirituality (raised Catholic), I vividly recall my grandma making a scene after Saturday afternoon mass because they played "Amazing Grace" and she objected to the word "wretch" ("that saved a wretch like me") being invoked in a place of worship. I never bothered to ask her why she was so up in arms. But years later, I imagine perhaps she took some of the same issue I have with that kind of language.
It is very limiting and, in my estimation, psychologically damaging to deprecate yourself as a "wretch" while uncritically exalting the Creator who *made* you that way. Again, God doesn't get to pat himself on the back for loving imperfect "wretches" that he made/allowed to be imperfect "wretches." If anything, I'd say *God* is the one obligated to show love and mercy, because it is utterly unfair to condemn inherently imperfect beings for their imperfections. It's also unfair to subject them to suffering that's not their fault. I'm not summarily saying I subscribe to the mindset of the combat vet i.e. "why did God let my friends burn to death?" but I 100% empathize and understand why and how he got to that place.
It's perfectly normal and human for us to imagine if a life beyond this one exists, and if so, what form it takes. But I think pondering such things is so overwhelmingly beyond our capacity to understand, even if we wanted to. If you're worried about getting into Heaven, not going to hell and being forgiven of your sins, just love your neighbor and do the right thing. Place all the importance in the world on your faith in the process. But at some point, you gotta calm it tf down and stop treating yourself like this dirtball who doesn't deserve compassion.

The Bible was created by the evil ones to control you with powerless beliefs. All of us are light beings here now just for the experience as this form of human. God mean Geometric oscillation Dielectric and we are all gods and goddesses with a fractal from source. We all are immortal and can never die as light beings. Always go within not outside of yourself.
Jesus’s name was Yeshua and was just a man like us . He was here for the Ascension that happens every 2000 years, we are in an Ascension right now. You guys seem like good guys but the Bible has duped many people including me until I learned of the trickery. Cheers!

The very fact that you said evil people wrote the Bible disqualifies your satement. Matt 12:26

You make powerful claims here. Where is your documentation to back up these claims?
