    Great vid!!! Your explanation of how and why you do balayage the way you do is perfect! Great great tips! Haters are those who tend to be bullies and not very good at what they do. Jealousy gets people nowhere! Xoxo

    Flash toner here. 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’ve been in the industry for 12 years and went to a relent exclusive school and we weren’t taught to let it sit the full 20 minutes either.

    love the natural look. I am a 15-20 min toner, but I do most at the backbar to save 30-40 mins of drying, then applying, then processing. For those who have little concept of how long things can actually take because you have an assistant doing it...5-10 mins to shampoo out bleach, 5 mins combing/detangling, then rough dry for 10...thats already 20-25 mins and I haven't applied toner!
    In my experience, toning while damp is what Demi manufacturers kind of expect. The ingredients include things that will foam and easily carry color pigments throughout the hair to be easily spread on damp hair, which also keeps hair with moisture. Plus clients don't like sticker shocker being told it will take MORE time, so charging for time and color used after a long highlighting session may freak them out. I like to factor in the cost, then either tone, or not.
    However, when doing something like a corrective, double process, recoloring, etc...more in depth attention needs to be made. In that instance we may be using permanent color with alkaline ingredients best used on dryer hair.

    I'm a flash toner too. I did leave a 8t toner on. I applied it to dry hair and watched it. I found that silver toners do better on dry hair.

  • @brookegorman7040

    If anyone is watching this and has thin curly hair that is sensitive to clays, stay away from this type of lightening treatment. It pulls all oils out of hair and is extremely drying. Those who have less porous hair it may work much better on. If you have very porous hair and products are heavy on your hair then this will damage you hair and you will need to hydrate for weeks or more. Perhaps conventional lightening or even the cream instead of powder will work better. I’ve done all three of these methods stated above. Just trying to look out for the curls since they are so difficult to keep when bleaching. Another thing, if you are also concerned with drying your hair out try a 20 volume developer instead and go 4-6 weeks between bleaching with 3 days in between washes and deep conditioning after each wash. It’ll take about 2-3 weeks to get the curls to bounce back.

    I’m a total flash toner 90% of the time. I’m in the same boat, 20+ years in the industry and my clients are usually happier when I flash tone vs 20 min tone on dry hair!

    My hair looks like when you met this customer. Platinum on bottom half and dark roots with silver virgin roots growing out. My hair is fine and can’t take anymore bleach on ends. What’s an easy way to blend the dark into light without hurting anymore platinum and what toner would blend the two worlds best. I need to do this myself. I can’t afford the salon upkeep anymore. I need easy.

    Question about the flash toning :)im curious, based on your experience.......If we dont leave it on for the full 20 mins or so. wouldnt it not penetrate as deeply? also, would the toner not wash/ fade quicker? (not criticizing at all.. just looking to learn. xox tnx a bunch in advance.

    • @dawnbradley
      @dawnbradley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats a legit question and I'm glad you asked, thats what ive been told my entire career however my experience shows me otherwise. All my clients hair has been fine. TOner will always fade but I havent noticed it fade any quicker with flash toning. ( such a rule breaker arent I) hehe

    Would you say that clay lightener lifts less than bleach? Does it also cause less damage? Can it be used on scalp?

    • @dawnbradley
      @dawnbradley  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It lifts slower, so it will take longer to achieve the same results, does thatmake sense. and WAYYY less damage. my clients who have had it done for 5 years their hair is thicker and healthier because of less damage and breakage
