I know of a Chinese girl who makes ragi mudde and curd rice ( kannadiga style ) she learnt this from her malayalee MIL ( Syrian Christian woman ) who in turn learnt it from her Kannadiga Brahmin Relatives !! From Kerala to Karnataka to. New York now in Hongkong !
I learnt it from her but we take the easy way out - making it a a Ragi drink for breakfast ( made in milk and ghee ) . I have seen malayalees make puttu out of ragi flour
We love the drink . Easy to cook for breakfast and above all extremely filling.
    Thank you for sharing.

Being a North Indian born n brought up in Mumbai, never saw anything like this dish☺ we are so much cought up into vadas, samosas, n other eateries that for us South Indian cousins are idli, rasam, sambar n menduvada!
It's like we were looking at south India through a small window from a distance; GITA's KITCHEN has opened a big door 🚪and now it's amazing to see such delicious tasty & healthy recipes 😋🥰😍
    Thank you so much!🤩🙏🙏🙏

Vada dosa idly were eaten occasionally in olden days .. now it has become everyday breakfast... But ragi ball is like our everyday food.. we have so many variety of sambar to go with it ...
Even to day in my home morning my mom prepares ragi ball and sambar (not the sambar for idli, it's totally different )

Hello madam, I think I saw this Ragi ball making in a pan video one year ago. Since then we are fond of Ragi balls and almost daily we are preparing it. We like it so much madam. It is really delicious and healthy dish. Now Ragi balls are part of our regular main food at least one time a day. We are thankful to you for showing this simple method.

Just a small trivia for people who are interested. Basiyodu is the kannada word for draining the water from cooked items like rice, dal, vegetables etc. So the original name for this saar is basidiro saar or drained water soup. Short form - bas-saar

Good afternoon Teacher, I keep seeing some of your videos, nice to see the traditional item of Karnataka.Farmers have a mudde (to be swallowed) at least with pickle if curry not available and get set to work in fields. Till 4 pm will not feel hungry..!!
"Basi" or basiyodu is decant in kannada, equivalent to "vadi kattu" in Tamil, hence got the name "bassaaru".

My mom used to make this saaru. Brought wonderful memories.
Just for information for whom ragi mudde is new, we pinch out a small ball (which u can swallow), dip it in the saaru and swallow it. Its usually not bitten.
