  • Ragi also known as finger millet is highly nutritious and specially good for diabetics too. This video shows how to make a simple yet nutrient rich porridge in two versions, of sweet and salty taste.

    Ragi flour 2 Tbsp
    Milk 1 cup

    Gita growing up in India my Aunties used to make it for us and we used to have it for breakfast before we went to school but my Aunties used to add coconut milk which was 😋 very very yummy . Thank you for your receipe 👍👍🙏🙏

    daily í eat ragi porraige with gur. one suggestion, roast the ragi initially and then add water.. raw taste of ragi is removed. Thank me later! 🙂

    Thank you. I tried it today and my teens and tween enjoyed it before leaving for school. I added the cuppa milk as recommended plus I added a pinch of salt, coconut sugar which I had on hand instead of jaggery & a dash of cinnamon. While serving added some fresh blueberries and raspberries and a sprinkle of coconut sugar on top when my tween said it was slightly bland. Lol 😅 🙏🤗. This breakfast was walloped down. Thank you.

    Very nice timely recipe Mam. Yes mam as you said, its a very healthy drink for all ages. I learned one tip from this, must add boiled & cooled milk , when we added Jaggery.

    We can add cumin powder, dhania powder and fenugreek powder in the salt and buttermilk version of Ragi. We used to drink like that only madam. It will be even more tasty.

I used to make the salty version...Only one thing I would like to suggest to you is in salty version put a pinch of asafoetida... It tastes awesome... 👌 👌

    Ragi Porridge is my favorite drink. But you did it in a different way amma where you added Jaggery which
    gives natural taste along with

      Can you please tell how much time does Ragi take to digest ? As I find Oats hard to digest. Also, after taking ragi porridge, can someone have a plate of rice, dal and sabji or we have to skip it entirely ?

      @@LA-hw6yv ragi is digested very easily. It's gluten-free. That's the reason why it is given to babies too. After taking ragi you can take rice, dal vegetables etc, if you feel hungry.

    Hello Aunty, you used ragi grain ground powder or sprouted dry ragi powder ?
    Because some use sprouted ragi powder for these recipes.

    I bought whole ragi. Do I have to roast before grinding to make flour please?

      Yes, you need to dry roast the ragi and then make flour. A better method would be to sprout the ragi and dry it and then make flour specially if you are giving for small babies
