Congratulations on getting a Lucid! My wife and I both bought Lucids at the end of 2022. We love them! Luxurious and incredibly easy to drive, the car simply takes care of you. The best vehicle either of us has ever owned. With a 500 plus mile range for road trips, we don't have the range anxiety I experienced with Tesla (I understand Lucids will have access to Tesla supercharging stations in 2025). I'm a Tesla owner with a reservation for a Lucid. It doesn't mean that I like the Tesla any less than before. Objectively, they are better than when they were new, thanks to updates. Lucid is different, and has things that Tesla doesn't. It's also not what Tesla was going for. They didn't fall short, but chose a different path with a more spartan look and a different focus. I'd encourage anybody who is looking for a car to test drive the competition too. As far as Tesla fans, they've made millions of cars and only a small percentage of them ever comment online. Most Tesla fans I know are Tesla fans because they like the car. After they bought it they were generally more impressed than beforehand. I don't see a lack of objectivity except perhaps in interactions with the same people before they had a Tesla. Unfortunately I don't know anybody personally with a Lucid.
@@bW9taeH4 I didn’t buy a Tesla until I was comfortable with their financials. Tesla’s financials never looked as bad as Lucid’s do today. Do your own research, as they say.

Same in France. Tesla is really the only option. I've seen 1 Taycan, 3 ID4, 1 MachE, 2 Ioniq5, and hundreds of Teslas in the town I live. There are "public chargers" on many of the streets but they max out at 11kW and are always occupied or broken. Phillip.
Great video. Probably the smoothest transition to and from a sponsor I've ever witnessed. Sadly I'd be afraid to own one for the exact reasons cited here. I don't want to wait 2 weeks for service and pay the prices inherent to a captive market.
Unfortunately Tesla can't add 360 degree parking view to any of their current cars. There are several blind spots in the current camera suite. The biggest is that cars with 360 parking view have a camera in the nose to cover a blind spot from the nose to over a foot or so out. Tesla's camera suite also has about a 10 degree blind spot off the left and right corners of the back bumper. There would just be too many blind spots in a Tesla 360 view for it to be useful.
Thanks Kim for posting your video. and to Steve for his feedback on Lucid. The interior to exterior window view of Lucid Air looks incredible. This should have been Model S 2.0 on the window design. Still prefer the Tesla Model S exterior styling and all of the software features specially the FSD. Model S can learn a thing or two that Lucid implemented such as the parking assist.
My trip from ca to ga was a nightmare with the lucid, constant software problems and don’t even wanna think about the charging musical chair game I had to play along the way. If you think tesla service is difficult, lucid is non existent.
As a longtime Tesla S owner it was once true that you didn't have to wait to charge at a Tesla super charger, but recently I have had to wait to charge, mostly at high volume charger, like on the NL Turnpike. Possible reasons: Tesla is selling a lot of cars. Tesla is opening up its chargers to other EV models. I fear waiting to charge at a Tesla super charger will become more common.
I appreciate this offering, thank you. I often find myself explaining the benefits of EV over ICE in most settings, and then offering the difference between Lucid and other EV manufacturers. Now if I could only afford one! haha
12:00 Tesla doesn't currently have enough cameras in the right places to provide this feature. Hopefully when Tesla fully deploys hardware 4 this will include the additional cameras necessary for this feature. Also agree with you about the ambient lighting and the more advanced seating for Model S/X and higher end Model Y and 3s.
Any Tesla can implement this and the question has been asked 1000x and Elon has replied every single time that due to patent issues it will never happen. Hardware 4 makes zero difference. Phillip.
That would be an excellent outcome for everyone. With Apple's financial backing the company and owner's futures would be secure and all the excellent Lucid engineering would be assured and built upon.
Beautiful and car with great specs! I hope Lucid and Rivian combine into one company, as both have strong, and weak points, and can truly rival Tesla, VW, BMW, and other EV makers.
U don't seem to know what you're talking about 😅. Lucid has been struggling so bad that they got bought out by Saudi Arabia to survive. And still won't survive for long because they Simply Will keep hemoraging money until their biggest shareholder panics & sells out 😂
People saying the company will banckrupt… they are owned by Saudi Arabia Government. Currently building a mega factory there. They are building their infraestructure. Good time to buy shares
The charging networks made me move to Tesla. Unless you have a charger at home, non-tesla would be a disaster. Also, if you like road trips, you'll have a lot of issues without the access to the Tesla network. Signed, Current Tesla and Rivian driver.
Used Lucid Airs seem to be the way to go because the price drops are so hard. I also hope Lucid survives, but I do feel like their leadership was most focused on doing the SPAC. Lucid recently claimed they have some things they can do raise more funds, but they are burning through cash like water going over the Niagra Falls. Saudi Arabia has been building up their EV company and it just so happens Lucid is building an EV factory is SA, because their biggest investors is the Saudi government. I see Lucid being totally bought out by Saudi Arabia and then merged into their EV company where both Lucid and the Saudi EV will be built in Lucid factories. Lucid leadership has not been updating their vehicles the way Tesla has to cut costs. Some of that could be financial issues, but considering the massive losses they take per unit built, getting a simpler and quicker to build Air into production is crucial to their future. I am guessing they will run out of funds before the Gravity reaches true production.
They made a great car, but for a huge cost and make incredible losses. Good on the short run for the consumer to buy something so good cheaply, but not sustainable on the long run.
The upcoming Lucid Gravity looks amazing, I would have the same concerns though. Things have looked a little better for Lucid, but I still feel like they are walking on thin ice. That said, Tesla had this same type of issue as well when they first started. So who knows, they might pull through, but given their cars entry price it's a rough gamble.
Hope it gets better for Lucid, cause I had bought over a thousand shares and I’m tired of sweating it out. I even was planning on buying one of these cars, now hmm…
Yeah it's dicey ..Saudis are holding their hand right now and it doesn't look promising.Maybe in 10 years ...I would not buy their stock at this point ...sorry... reality strikes.😮😢
Am considering trading one of my vehicles for an EV. In the meantime, am researching the Lucid offerings. This video was very helpful! Whether Lucid Dream or Gravity, the jury is out but I'm going with Lucid over Tesla model anything. Thank you!!
When we charge our EV6 at 115V 15 AMPS it'll go up to 310 miles range. Then backing down the drive way it defaults to mid 290's miles range. May be because it detects my wifes driving history as one value, then my driving history computes another. I get 3.8 KW per mile, my squeeze gets 4.6 miles per KWH. She's the safest driver on earth. Traffic has to be clear from Honolulu to Jerusalem before she makes that left turn.
They need to fix the blind spot display. The right image is covered by the steering wheel. They should center split the image when making turns for full unobtrusive viewing.
The problem is that Tesla is looking premium but much more affordable. Lucid does not bring very well this luxury twist that trigger customer to pay the high price
To be fair about the epa mileage with the EV’s, I’ve never gotten close to the estimated MPG on any of my regular ice vehicles. I feel they have always lied about estimated mileage for decades.
I haven't either. With the Model S, I never got rated range, but wasn't so far away for it that it was meaningless. With the Model 3, I was able to get rated range or better. I haven't really looked into that for a long time because the range is so far greater than what I'd use on any given day, and with solar power, it's moot with respect to cost. For long trips, I'll stop for meals and restrooms anyway, and actual range gets me to places with more than enough left that I can typically charge only when I'd be stopped anyway.
Great video as always Kim. Lucid's approach to the market by way of "luxury" is a losing battle. The majority of America can't afford this car, even the lowest $87k offering is out of reach for most people. That being said it just doesn't appeal to a younger generation in my opinion, no shade at all but it looks like a Buick Oldsmobile. I envision the demographic purchasing this vehicle are in their late 50's to early 70's and even still there is brand loyalty amongst that consumer group; which Lucid would have to overcome. It's an uphill battle, but let's be real hope is not a strategy. I see a sale to an OEM dealer in their future.

Its a Stunning EV car . 900W Technology too ! Lucid is King ! I take Lucid Air over a Ferrari any day . Its Faster and cleaner ! 500 Miles of real World range . They just have to Complete Construction of their Factory and Boost Production . I think Lucid Pure will be a Hit with lower Price Point and 400 Miles range . Better then Tesla and Hyundai . .. . Lucid needs another 1, 5 Billion from the Saudis to Boost Production and Deliveries . Tesla Almost Went Bankrupt twice remember ?? Charging stations need Improvements too . Creepy Joe Biden is spending Billions on EV car Charging stations too right ! It will take few more years for sure .
Tesla owner here, it is so sad that we are so excited about a car nailing the distance from an object, which is a feature achieved decades ago with the use of super cheap ultra sound sensors.
If I were to get a Luxury EV it would be a Cadillac they have 1000s of dealerships for warranty work. The #1 thing that sets Tesla apart from ever other car maker is FSD and simplicity. When you understand how Tesla is creating FSD it's quite amazing who would have ever thought someone could land a rocket booster
A coworker recently took delivery of a Cadillac Lyriq. He didn't make it home from the dealer before a warning light illuminated. It had something to do with battery temperature control and the car refused to charge when he got home. He got it back to the dealer and a day later they said they fixed it. But the problem recurred. He took it back a second time and they gave him a loaner to drive. A week and a half later they are still trying to accomplish the repair. This is his fourth EV after a Chevy Volt, a Chevy Bolt, and a Mustang Mach E. He won't consider a Tesla because he doesn't like Elon Musk.
It's a clear winner from luxury standpoint but they need to focus more on production and pricing to compete in the market. As the PIF backing up and factory is being build up, I hope they will fly in 5 years. Investors are very nervous at this point that it could go bankrupt as they burning out of cash, management need to come up with a complete change of plan to survive.
I want a video after the first time they had to take it for repair. How easy or hard was it etc. that’s what we need. Car is awesome no question. How ya the service when things go wrong.
That whole of ownership experience, particularly charging, seems to give Tesla the edge. That said, Lucid is born electric and doesn't have the dealer network to work through, so puts them ahead of legacy makers a bit. Maybe Lucid tech gets licensed...
"The sound that it makes when it's backing up... Literally sounds like a dream" You mean the sound every EV makes? And how does a dream 'literally' sound? I've never heard one. My God...
I sure hope lucid makes it. But from a model 3 owners perspective, at the moment I would only buy rivian or tesla for a future car. If lucid could find a way to produce a 50-80k car it would be a different story.
From what I have read, Lucid's partnership with Aston Martin will enable the production of the next improved version of Lucid's innovative motor "The Wunderbox". This will allow Lucid to have the less expensive 1 motor car with very high bhp that will be head and shoulders above the other EV's in the segment.
This was 10 months ago, so I'm sure that with the rumors of Tesla opening their charge stations to third-party charging, Steve must be exited! I'm looking to purchase the Lucid Gravity, and I'm waiting to see if the rumors come to fruition!
I just want to comment on movement sound best I heard so far embarrassing to say is Mitsubishi outlander phev the electric motor sound is freaking perfect
The US market likes SUVs and there's only so many customers looking to buy a luxury EV sedan for over $100k. Why do you think Tesla doesnt sell many Model S/X compared to the Model Y? They need to rollout an SUV and reduce prices and ramp up production.
Great video thanks for ur time and Steve’s. As i have tons of shares of lucid and believe in such a beautiful vehicles and models apple should buy them since they missed on Tesla.
LOL Lucid will be the indisputable EV King with Gravity, Aston Martin deal, AMP2, the 50K midsize sedan after Gravity. Tesla will be relegated to the $25K hatchback car :)
It's funny I can tell who is a tesla owner by people that keep saying its going out of business. Other people could careless and just give their thoughts on the car. Ur obviously jealous it's another car the average joe tesla owners can't afford. 😂 better luxury and actually head turning on the road. Ain't no one double taking or taking a pic of a tesla. They look like basic traffic
It's good to hear Lucid fixed a lot of the initial defects. But if Lucid doesn't explain how they're going to avoid 2Q24 bankruptcy, no rational person is going to buy their cars
Lucid makes amazing cars, so does Rivian. I would take either one over a Tesla. Hopefully they follow Rivian example and make affordable versions. I’m looking at and R2 when that comes out. Lucid is way out of my price range lol
Lucid CEO comment in 2020 "So we are planning for production cosmos where some plan for production chaos… It’s not for me to criticize Tesla. But I’m an observer of these things and I can say practically that there’s only one car company that has production hell." I don't care for Lucid. Peter Rawlinson has so much hubris, he probably thought they would be immune to "production hell". On their SPAC deck, projected revenue for 2022 was $2.2 billion, $5.5 billion for 2023, $9.9 billion for 2024. Actual revenue for 2022 was $257 million. OOFF! Lucid is a joke.

It's an elegant design, the one brand that offered something Tesla didn't, if not better at least good in a different way. Sort of future retro art deco design that would play well in a movie and architect sensibility interior. But it's not cheap, prices start where Tesla's end. It's not clear that it has much more utility than a Tesla 3P and to match the performance the price is around Plaid. Looks like it has nvidia hyperion orin chip which depending on generation has quite a bit of compute, comparable or superior to Tesla's. But whether they have a software development team to deliver is another matter. They might rely on nvidia software if nvidia delivers something actually end usable. the impressive demo tesla showed off long ago long before they could deliver on it I believe was nvidia software. originally I was leaning towards tesla just using nvidia chips until such time they really knew what they would need in the final solution.

Lucid is NOT a good alternative to Tesla, they’re a company on a rocket ride toward bankruptcy.
@@bW9taeH4 Buying a Lucid right now is a very risky move.
High probability of bankruptcy, IMHO.
@@tommornini2470 Then don't buy one. I still have to test drive it, but plenty of people said the same thing about Tesla for years.
@@bW9taeH4 I didn’t buy a Tesla until I was comfortable with their financials.
Tesla’s financials never looked as bad as Lucid’s do today.
Do your own research, as they say.
Here in the U.K. the Tesla network is miles ahead of everything else, and despite loving the looks of the Taycan, EQS and the Lucid, I'm sticking to Tesla as others are seriously hindered by a poor network and all the stress that goes with it
You are beating a dead horse. Every Tesla lover keeps bringing that up
@@markfitzpatrick6692 that's because it's very important and takes most if the stress out of owning an EV
@@vickykennel7414 i drive 3000 miles a month so rely on the network more than most and having owned about 20 cars so far, my model 3 is just as good as any of them and when it comes to tech it's about 3-4 years ahead. I guess you're just another Tesla hater for no reason then.
@@vickykennel7414 what do you mean "I will find out"? My 3 is almost 4 years old and has been faultless. Stop drivelling on about things you clearly know nothing about
Same in France. Tesla is really the only option. I've seen 1 Taycan, 3 ID4, 1 MachE, 2 Ioniq5, and hundreds of Teslas in the town I live. There are "public chargers" on many of the streets but they max out at 11kW and are always occupied or broken.
Phillip.
the best car so far. it beats tesla hands down. the only car that is more efficient than Tesla per KW
Enjoy your ride, I hope lucid is still here in 2 or 3 years so you can get service.
Great video. Probably the smoothest transition to and from a sponsor I've ever witnessed. Sadly I'd be afraid to own one for the exact reasons cited here. I don't want to wait 2 weeks for service and pay the prices inherent to a captive market.
Saw my first Lucid Air at the L Etape Las Vegas bicycle race event this week end. It is beautiful. I just hope they can survive.
For a while perhaps but Tesla will keep installing more at a rate which should aleviate the problem.
Phillip.
Lucid will be a cheap bargain for Apple to acquire in half a year and then finally build their Apple car 😂
That would be an excellent outcome for everyone. With Apple's financial backing the company and owner's futures would be secure and all the excellent Lucid engineering would be assured and built upon.
It's dead in the water.
Apple isn't going to build a car...
Even apple wouldn't touch this company .
And had already cancelled their own EV program ..they know they can't do it ..😂
Then they will put their emblem and charge you ten thousand dollars for it
Beautiful and car with great specs! I hope Lucid and Rivian combine into one company, as both have strong, and weak points, and can truly rival Tesla, VW, BMW, and other EV makers.
Lucid has such a good product and company that they have no where to go but up from this point. Can’t wait to continue to see the progress they make!
the problem is scale, each car sold cost Lucid $550k+, I hope they still in business in next 2 years.
I don't think they've hit rock bottom yet.... more likely will be heading down.
No where to go but up?
They’re on an uncrowded superhighway headed toward bankruptcy.
U don't seem to know what you're talking about 😅. Lucid has been struggling so bad that they got bought out by Saudi Arabia to survive. And still won't survive for long because they Simply Will keep hemoraging money until their biggest shareholder panics & sells out 😂
if I sell you diamonds and you pay for river rocks it's a fantastic product. Not a fantastic business model
At that price range, I’m do looking forward to affording my own *Lucid Air Touring* in June of 2064. Right around my birthday. Yay me! 👏
Thank you, I hope Lucid makes it!
Good on the short run for the consumer to buy something so good cheaply, but not sustainable on the long run.
you have to measure from the bottom lip of the bumper. that's the part that extends out the most.
Buy the dip!
Yeah it's dicey ..Saudis are holding their hand right now and it doesn't look promising.Maybe in 10 years ...I would not buy their stock at this point ...sorry... reality strikes.😮😢
nobody cares what stocks you bought, this is about car comparisons not Clif's portfolio get over yourself
Lucid is without a doubt the best Ev and the least understood when it catches on it will go straight up
Wow, reading your journey with Lucid ownership is so inspiring!
Competition is never a bad thing, it does feel more premium than Tesla.
Sounds like a woman after my own heart..We women dominate as safe drivers ...love the Honolulu comment.😂❤😊
They need to fix the blind spot display. The right image is covered by the steering wheel. They should center split the image when making turns for full unobtrusive viewing.
The problem is that Tesla is looking premium but much more affordable. Lucid does not bring very well this luxury twist that trigger customer to pay the high price
Affordability takes time. Lucid’s will become more affordable when the same technology becomes easier to make
Tesla sounds sexier.
Im gonna have to get me one of these. Very nice car, thanks for the review.
Lucid is financially supported by the Sovereign Wealth Fund of Saudi Arabia-they will survive, especially as they fill out their product range.
Tesla's Supercharging network is second to none.
But now that they've sold a record number of cars, those supercharger wait times are being tested.
What I can say is that the Lucid Air looks better than just about any rival.
Great video. Great questions. I drive a Tesla S but I have been thinking about getting the new Lucid Gravity that will be available soon.
To be fair about the epa mileage with the EV’s, I’ve never gotten close to the estimated MPG on any of my regular ice vehicles. I feel they have always lied about estimated mileage for decades.
I beat the EPA with my iX more often than not, with normal driving (no hyper mil.) on 22 inch wheels.
Best car I've ever owned ,the stock sucks wind though.
10:48 In terms of Software, Telsa is ahead, but not by far. In terms of luxury.... not even close, but luxury is different to each all of us.
The Lucid Gravity comes out soon. Hopefully, high sales will make this company more competitive.
What are you Talking about Men ??? Just look around you ? Florida , California here in Ontario Canada too -- Porsches and Bentlee's all over the Place ! Many , many Rich people with money . What's a 100 Thousand Dollars for a Doctor or a Lawyer or a Judge ect . Many . There is 3-- 911 Porsches on MY street alone here in Toronto . I saw Lucid Air in their Studio .
The interior of the Lucid is really nice. I don’t think the styling is as nice as the Model S. It’s clearly designed to go for Aero…
Good interview. Thank you Steve for showing us your Lucid.
Sounds like this car should still be in testing process. Wonder how the brand will survive with no affordable models.
Charging Infra and FSD makes all the difference
They are nice!! I wish you could take a LUCID to a Tesla charger.
2025
The interior quality is on another level 🔥, in the next facelift i think it would be perfect
This spec of the car starts at 138k not near 200k
I use Apple Maps and waze together all the time for the same reasons … waze catching po po on the road is a great function
Haha true
I want a video after the first time they had to take it for repair. How easy or hard was it etc. that’s what we need. Car is awesome no question. How ya the service when things go wrong.
That whole of ownership experience, particularly charging, seems to give Tesla the edge. That said, Lucid is born electric and doesn't have the dealer network to work through, so puts them ahead of legacy makers a bit. Maybe Lucid tech gets licensed...
"The sound that it makes when it's backing up... Literally sounds like a dream"
You mean the sound every EV makes? And how does a dream 'literally' sound? I've never heard one.
My God...
She doesn't understand the meaning of "literally," unfortunately like most people who misuse the word.
Maybe she meant a Lucid Dream edition.
With regard to your sponsor's product: you need to look up what the IP rating numbers mean.
I have 6 more years before I retire... I'm saving for my Lucid now.
Saudi Arabia thanks you for your support! No bone saw death for you!...
Holding shares and increasing my position moving forward.
The battery gets better?? That's very interesting.
Fun review. This Steve guy seems great.
Lucid is about 12 months away from becoming a trivia question 🙋♂️
LOL Lucid will be the indisputable EV King with Gravity, Aston Martin deal, AMP2, the 50K midsize sedan after Gravity. Tesla will be relegated to the $25K hatchback car :)
Lol
It's funny I can tell who is a tesla owner by people that keep saying its going out of business. Other people could careless and just give their thoughts on the car. Ur obviously jealous it's another car the average joe tesla owners can't afford. 😂 better luxury and actually head turning on the road. Ain't no one double taking or taking a pic of a tesla. They look like basic traffic
They should have entered the mid-level car market. Once established then introduce high-end luxury models
Fantastic video. You've got a new subscriber.
It's good to hear Lucid fixed a lot of the initial defects. But if Lucid doesn't explain how they're going to avoid 2Q24 bankruptcy, no rational person is going to buy their cars
Another episode of keeping up with Jones (Steve).
Lucid makes amazing cars, so does Rivian. I would take either one over a Tesla. Hopefully they follow Rivian example and make affordable versions. I’m looking at and R2 when that comes out. Lucid is way out of my price range lol
So whats the verdict? Would Steve buy it again?

The Mobil chargers cable looks like you have to access to a 40 amp 240 volt receptacle. Where on the road would someone ever find that level receptacle?
I ❤ my Lucid never had these ployed issues
