    As with most of my videos, it’s a long one! So here’s the TLDW if you don’t want to waste 45 minutes listening to me blabbering:
    - Software improvements continue to be my largest takeaway from the early cars. Not in terms of features like dream drive or car play, things that should have launched with the vehicle, but stability.
    - Driving dynamics are Lucid’s highlight for me. Slap on the 21” set and have some fun in the canyons - it’s impressive what this car can do considering it’s not even the GT-P
    - Niggles such as the key proximity unlocking / locking cycling when standing near the vehicle, high pitched noises when headlights are on, seat motors cogging, loose fitting trim pieces, are all areas that show this is still their first model and leave room for improvement in future product
    - This car is built for range and you can expect a solid 400 miles at reasonable highway speeds with the aero wheels. However, for trips longer than that you have to rely on crippling infrastructure that truly sucks. A Tesla / gas is a better long distance choice due to the recharging nightmares we’ve had with this car’s partner charging networks. With that said, I’d suggest going for a smaller battery lucid and enjoying the driving dynamics closer to home unless you have a city situated 350-400 miles away that you travel to often.
    - Overall the software improvements have lead to a stable experience over my 7,000 miles with the car, service is truly fantastic, and driving the car is no question an elevated driving experience when compared with my Model S Plaid - just wish it could charge as seamlessly as that vehicle.

    Kyle, I am a 68 year old woman who purchased my Lucid Grand Air in October 22. I do not plan on taking a long road trip. I purchased the car because I love cars & I thought this car is a looker & I love the fact that I can blow the doors off almost all cars except maybe the Tesla Plaid. Have not met up with one yet!

    The charging curve thing is misunderstood here. When the Lucid has charged to 50% it has already taken on as much energy as a Model 3 long range holds at a full 80% charge. In Kyle's example a Lucid charged to 40% has already taken on more stored energy than a base Ionic 5 holds at 80%. The bottom end of the Lucid's charge curve piles on 2 hours of non-Cannonball range in just minutes. I seldom charge the Lucid beyond 50% (an easy 200 miles) when on a trip unless I stop for lunch or something and just let it keep charging.
    Kyle is dead right about the driving dynamics. My Air GT is a joy to drive. I have traveled to some of my favorite twisties to give it a good ol' flogging. Raw power can be intimidating but the Lucid handles power and speed with a heavy dose of competence. World class suspension calibration and butter smooth throttle response. I appreciate that the various modes actually change settings, not just throttle response. Sprint stiffens the suspension, reduces brake and steering boost for better feel, and reduces regen (still best to set regen to Low when driving hard anyway to reduce heat buildup).
    Some chargers do take patience. I don't get as frustrated as Kyle when a charger is a bit slower than advertised or I have to call EA's 800 number to get a charger reset. It really helps to plan your trip, checking charging stations with the lucid app. EA's app will say some chargers are good that simply will not work with the Lucid. EA isn't like Tesla, but then again, I'm not stuck with driving a Tesla. For me that's a win.

      As a seven month owner of an AGT with 9,000 miles and one 2,000 cross country trip to Denver. I competely agree with your assessment. His father made a wise choice buying used, but I bought at the initial offerring price so all in after the credit thought that it was a fair deal. The car has brilliant suspension and power delivery, is a joy to drive on mountain twisties in VT and NH, and is solid on the Interstates where 18 wheelers abound. EA charging worked 100% of the time for my cross country mostly located at Walmarts not far from the Interstates. No, they rarely delivered even close th the 350 kWh advertised even at low SOC, but my dog and I had time to walk a bit so no problem. (I was not in a race so charging time was no big deal.) Kyle's comment about being stuck behind Walmarts for EA charging was a bit gratituous in my view. They were never busy for me so yea for Walmart.
      The nav system falls short for trip planning and charging so I had to use the ABRP app and the EA site for EA locations and status. Kyle's comments are mostly spot on. He reluctantly acknowledges that the AGT is probably the best large sedan extant. That is a lot for him to admit given his apparent affinity for Tesla and his perspective with other high end sedans.
      I do not share Kyle's assessment of the AGT as only a long distance driver. Yes, it is a large car, but its turning radius is relatively tight and it has lots of space so it is eay to store things in it. Room for a full size spare in the frunk is unique, for most sedans in its class have zero space for a full sized spare.

      Given my personal experience I now generally disregard Kyle and co. since I can benchmark their experience with my own. In the ways that really matter the Lucid Air is perhaps the best luxury sedan an owner/driver can buy today.

      I am trying to decide between a Pure and a GT. I love to drive, but probably take only 3 long (i.e.700 miles) trips per year. Right now. Lucid started a sale which lowers the price of their different trims a lot. I had a lease ready to sign, but with the new pricing on the Pure lease, I will save $13.5K. Or I could spend an additional $20.5K. I like the creature comforts of the GT, the extended range (very important), and the power. But the Pure is nothing to sneeze at. I figure in 3 years Lucid will have more offerings, the price point may be lowered permanently (wishful thinking). Any advice? I liked your comment a lot. It was extremely helpful to me. I am a 73 year old female, so I have to take into consideration things like having to charge at night. (My apartment building has 16 Blink (formerly SemaConnect) chargers so I am good as long as I am just puttering around town. Any thoughts?

      @@annalbin I too have mostly been 'puttering around' in the heat of this summer. I charge the car in my garage every two weeks or so and it works fine. I love my GT, any Lucid will be better at longer trips than almost any other EV. The big battery GT does make long trips even easier, but the main reason to get a GT is the nicer trim and the huge waves of power it can deliver. I suspect the Pure has more power than most drivers will ever use and should be pretty well equipped, but I haven't seen one in person. I love the GT's glass roof but that would be no good if always parking outside.

      @@Miata822 Thank you for taking time to reply. The Pure is fun to drive - sort of like my first Miata. I guess the weight of the battery pack is centered similarly to a mid engine sports car. Also, the Pure offers a gorgeous color (Fantom Blue) which is not offered on any other trim.
      I watched another Kyle vid where he compared the differences in handling between the 19” and 21” wheels. Lucid offers 20” wheels, I don’t know if that would be the best or worst of both worlds. Probably the worst ( ie worst mileage and not holding in aggressive driving). Man, did Lucid present an interesting car. Road car or performance car?

    I've owned my Air GT since November, I use it both as a daily driver and road tripping. It's a wonderful car. I love driving it. Road trips are its forte.

      Agree... It IS creepy..
      But then at the same time.. we are all walking around with phones that could and probably are doing the same.. They ARE listening to you ... even when your not asking it to do a task.
      I have had conversations with someone... next day or two .. I am getting ads or info about the topic we were discussing.. but did not do a web search on.

      Tesla was doing this exact thing. Some cheeky Tesla contractors were monitoring and sharing photos from Elon's personal Tesla in his garage. I wouldn't be surprised if other smart car companies did similar shenanigans.

    Kyle, you really need to hold yourself out as a consultant to EV manufacturers. You’ve got the experience and the expertise to tell them what they need to do to get it right. Most just don’t have the experience to point their engineers in the right direction.

      I disagree with you. Yes, in some regards, great consultation would make a better car. But in many, MANY others, they're not looking to make a better car than a Tesla, for example. They're just looking to make their "me too" EV, so that when someone's car dies, they're sick of the high cost of gas and want to switch to an EV, all of these manufacturers can say, "We've got an EV too!" and they're hoping the average consumer isn't savvy enough to know which one is best. If you're a loyal Honda customer, for example, and Honda comes out with their EV, you might just buy it without knowing anything else.

      The initial market, large luxury sedan EV is small. They should have gone with a mid size SUV EV. I have a GT-Performance, an amazing car but it's a niche product.

    Very fair review. I have an Air GT for almost a year now, 16K miles and have done many road trips. While yes the DCFC network is frustrating, this car is still the best place to be when dealing with those frustrations, and given the superior range it allows you to skip a charging stop or find another charger in case your first choice didn’t work out, so in my opinion it’s the ONLY EV road trip option that isn’t a Tesla. It seems crazy to drive a less comfortable less premium worse handling more cheaply built Tesla on road trips just because that network is more reliable than EA.

      Well, in fairness the price point of a Tesla compared to these Lucid models should give drivers some acceptance of the less premium experience.
      I have to think that, at least in large part, the massive depreciation on a Lucid is due to drivers realizing that any kind of range anxiety in a premium luxury car isn’t worth it. It kind of feels like these companies are at the mercy of the US government getting their shit together (against huge ICE companies that have little desire to see that happen quickly) or Tesla upgrading their current infrastructure so all EVs can use their stations. Not an awesome position to be in.

      Same in every respect. Love my AGT. Once people get to experience it they will understand. It's like nothing else. MotorTrend was right to call it not Tesla 2.0 but CAR 2.0
      Lucid is touring the country now to show the car and give test rides. That will work.

      I don't know if it's crazy to arrive at a charger and just charge at the correct speed and for the correct amount of time and continue on. That's why we got a Model X Plaid and didn't even consider any of the other options even though by cost every single other EV on the market was a possibility for us. I don't really think driving is that interesting so I would much rather turn on FSD and get from point A to point B in a very comfortable car and not have to needlessly spend more time driving around to look for chargers or whatever. Though I will say that the range of the Lucid is simply amazing and would possibly make me not have to charge at all for the usual road trip distance I drive. So that is a very useful feature. But cross country trips I would never do in anything but a gas car or a Tesla. I don't want to waste time and make my wife pissed that we have to go find another charge or spend twice as long charging than the car had expected to based on the "rated" charging speed.

      @@kriskros91 you’re correct, it’s not crazy at all to expect charging to just work as well as Tesla’s network. I’ve used the MagicDock on the Lucid so I know. That handshake was faster than EA, even though the charging itself was slow because of the car’s 900v architecture. The point though is most of the time you’re probably not DC fast charging your car but home charging/commute/L2 charging, and when you buy a car you’re not just buying a charging experience. For me, where I road trip maybe 5-6 times a year, I’ll put up with EA inconsistency (sometimes EA has been great and when it is it’s actually better than Tesla network, 301kw peak speed for me!), and the other 330 or so days a year I’m driving a car I like much better than the Tesla I’ve driven. But yes depending on one’s needs the Tesla might be the better choice, I just don’t think it’s fair to say “your only road trip EV option is Tesla” only because EA is less reliable. I’ve used EVGo, Chargepoint, etc, it can be done just fine it’s just a bit more annoying.

    Love the video... the Cannonball was epic...
    Don't really understand the hate on the EA stations being at Walmart??
    When EA partnered with them... it was Pre-Pandemic.. and MOST Walmarts were open 24hrs... seems like a good match.. Charge your car.. go inside, can walk and stretch... get snacks and drinks, and bathrooms, and even hot food at many of them.
    Seems better than an empty parking lot with nothing around.
    Post Pandemic.. after 10-11PM they are closed now.. So that kinda sucks.

    Love my Air GT. I’ve had issues with charging and even a major issue. However with the software updates, the customer service I really don’t have many complaints. Also being honked at to give thumbs ups, flagged to stop by curious drivers, mouth drops, and general praises (even a little jealousy from people who know me). It’s worth every lost minute charging and small glitches.

    Nicely done. I agree with your review (though there are a few more little things I'd like to see from Lucid sooner than later .. easy entry/exit, persistent homelink connections, preserved auto-high beams, video storage, sentry mode, pet mode, valet mode, etc.). Also, the "bubble" issue w/ the 21" Pirelli PZero performance tires is a constant worry .. especially for road-trips. The 19" All Season tires were definitely a good choice.
    PS I didn't realize that @outofspecdave1554 was your father .. I've enjoyed several of his videos ever since I saw him drive around my parents' "neck of the woods"

    Great review. Absolutely agree about driver assistance hugging the right line. I feel like it actually has a magnet pushing you toward a truck when passing. Hope they can update via software.

    I covered my Model 3 camera day 1. Didn’t even make it out of the driveway. After some of the recent revelations of what Tesla has done with those videos, seems as if I was right to do so. Totally get why you did that Kyle.

    The large battery for me was a non-starter. Back seat comfort is greatly compromised, especially for longer drives. I reserved a Pure, but am letting it go because the charging network just isn't good enough for a chauffeur transportation service. I have an occasional day where I drive 650 miles. I drive all over the Northeast and I can't do it without optimal charging. The Pure and Touring is much more comfortable in back...

    Great video Kyle! Man, knock on wood, I've been lucky with my EV6. Never having any experience with Kia before, I would have thought I would have these little annoying issues as well. Of course, now I will :)

      I have the EV6 dual motor wind in glacier color. After 1 year, minor stuff bugs me, but this is their first EV6 so I am ok with these issues. I dislike the door handles. I also had the motor in the driver's car seat fail, which was replaced at 3 months. Lastly, I can't stand the "auto" button next to the physical button on the AC/Radio because I accidentally bumped the auto with my finger, and it turns on auto which then changes my air setting, so I have to again adjust to my comfort. They need to improve the AC/radio controls. Otherwise, I absolutely love this car and have had positive comments on it frequently

    Have you determined what caused Dave’s situation where he started to charge and Lucid had to do an over the air system reset? Was it the charger or the car? Dave delivered it to you and it ran great across the country. Was wondering if an over the air diagnostic was run since then.

    Just saw a Lucid Air Sapphire test mule at a charging station a couple days ago (video on my channel). I'd love to have one of these cars. They are so sleek, roomy, and have tons of performance and range. Great all around car.

    Wanting the Apple "it just works" experience of luxury alongside the more Android "rough but highly adjustable" doesn't seem fair, even from a high end purchase. Either it's easy for the old rich person to use or you need a PhD in xBox Sciences to figure out how to use the seat warmer.
    Fixed modes for handling are good. Fixed trip calculations for charging are good. Cutting down on the possibility for edge cases is what leads to bulletproof software that doesn't crash. Adding in complexity increases support costs and risk of software issues. KISS for the win.

    Gotta wonder if your dad's fun-filled experience with the non-Tesla charging network on his FL to NJ trip is the reason he got it used with less than 900 miles on the clock.

      The guy they bought it from mentioned software was the thing he hates.. He was a software engineer.. and a long time Tesla owner.
      Personally I can imagine putting more weight on the Software than driving dynamics or interior quality.. The fact the guy only put 800 miles on it kinda proves he does not actually drive much.
      I want a car.. not a smartphone. Its for driving... not playing on a screen.

    Many new 2023 Model Ys are experiencing a similar faint but distinct high pitched noise from the front drive units right now, not present in our earlier models.

      @@frumpd63 I’m not skilled enough to make a decision if the bearings sound like inverters. I would guess inverters make the motor squeak, all day every day. I work at a energy company with loads of inverters.

    Where is Lucid's vehicle to Load and or Vehicle to Grid. They bragged about these features but I guess they have been delayed?

    I think the Lucid utilizes the Blackberry QNX platform. Should be a high level ASIL D rating which is titilizing.

    22:40 I've done some vacations where I've driven 530 miles in a day before, I'd totally go past this cars range on very rare occasions, granted I wouldn't mind charging a little then but some people will use that range on occasion.

    After a 10k mile drive, the quirks, good, bad. More details later. Ugly seems to be the charging network partnership or lack thereof. Overall the long distance driving experience was favorable.

    The government in the United Kingdom has just moved the ban on the production of ICE-only cars from 2030 to 2035. The charging network and infrastructure here are abysmal and a barrier to EV ownership.

    I sometimes get Signet surge on my Lightning as well,,,, but it's not as dramatic as what you show in your videos. The issue is not unique to 800V cars, it's just more dramatic.
    Lucid has no choice but to partner with EA, every other CCS "network" is just a hodgepodge of opportunistic station installations with no design effort around facilitating effective travel.

    Does the key have a motion sensor? If you keep the key more still, does it reduce the movement of the doors? My Nissan key has a motion sensor that prevents unintended unlocks. Also, niggles? sounds like another word there

    Although the charging infrastructure deserves a lot of blame, Lucid has to take some of it as well. Other 800v EVs don't have nearly as much trouble charging as does the Lucid. It's their first model, so many issues are expected. But not blaming Lucid for some of the charging issues is not helpful for them at all, as they'll never work on it coming to believe it's all on the infrastructure.

    I’m starting to pick up a common theme on EV companies that got their start in tech and not actually making cars that build quality, regardless of the price point, is going to be a challenge.
    It goes to show that Tesla, for all its build quality issues, so completely nailed the charging network problem that the automakers that have nearly mastered the build of a car can barely compete because they are at the mercy of the government funded mess that is non-Tesla charging.
    I don’t fault anyone that wants to wait to get an EV because they can’t stand Tesla but aren’t willing to risk the current charging infrastructure.

    i am sorry but until the other companies get their act together with a charging network that is as good as Tesla, then it doesn't matter how good the car is, if you don't have a reliable charging network so the only option right now for long distance is Tesla.

    It looks like the door opening is way too short for taller and larger people. Looks very low to the ground.

      It is. Also lacks easy entry/exit functionality which exacerbates the issue. Hopefully, Lucid will provide it (Easy entry/exit) w/ an OTA soon. That said, once inside, it is a great ride that rivals any luxury sedan.

    Another excellent review, but I have no idea how you climb into a car that filthy. I know you don't want scratches and I know you have a detail guy, but you know there's this thing called a pressure washer, right? lol I've been on my share of road trips, and I've never had an interior anywhere near that messy.

    lucid motors have to come up with cheaper cars or it will die, which is a huge bummer.
    Smaller city sedans with range of 330 miles, limit the power to 200 hp, while still retaining the acceleration to 5 secs 0-60 mph, but with a price tag of sub USD45k , manufacture core parts in the USA but move the assembly plant in Asia / South America will cut the cost substantially. Right now Lucid is way too expensive and competition is too stiff. Lucid also needs to come up with creative charging solutions to give that extra tech edge over Tesla.
    I would suggest installing wireless charging tech and running wireless charging parking lots, solar panel roofs on upcoming models and solid state battery tech collaborations with Japan. This will make the range longer, charging faster (wireless charging, wired charging and solar charging all running concurrently) and gives that tech edge over than the Tesla.

    Most people want to arrive at a charger with 10-15% left, not 3-5% like you do. And really, who wants to arrive at an EA Charger station with 3% and they’re not working and you have to find another way to charge.
