23:13 - purple monitor Common problem on LCD monitors with LED backlights and high numbers of hours on them. The LEDs used are UV with a phosphor coating to convert the UV light to white light. The phosphor coating eventually wears out to the point where the UV bleeds through and the screen turns purple. While not a trivial fix, they can be fixed by replacing the backlight LEDs. If you're lucky, they're on a separate module that can be removed and replaced. I've had to replace LED backlights on Dell monitors, and you can keep them going for many more years. Though I prefer the older CCFL types because they're a lot easier to do.
@@GlorifiedGremlin You sound like a manufacturer anti-repair representative. SAFETY AND SECURITY DON'T OPEN YOUR DEVICE111oNe!!@@! IT R DANGEROUS. I'd get them to clean it if they want to. Try teaching them to not throw things on the ground and have places for them. One item at a time ask them if its trash or where they want to put it. Get them to physically throw it out and organise it themselves. Teach them how to use a garbage can and how to throw garbage out properly. Tell them how much less work it can be to keep it clean and how much of an enjoyable space it can be for them/you and other people when organized and clean.

The mounting plates on those arctic coolers is supposed to bend. It's thin, flexible metal. They use the flex in that plate instead of springs to limit mounting pressure. I've installed a bunch of those coolers when reviving dead minings cards and they all bend like that.

I love how this series has turned into Linus accusing his employees of stealing company property for 30 minutes. LOL.
Dude's a millionaire, stole the LTT profits, fair play to the employees
Says he paid for this guy’s house even 🚩🚩
@@PCDestroyer31 i take it thats him joking about how the wages he pay, pay for the house.
Well its not the first time a "linus visits his staff's houses" series ended that way.
Doesn't help that people taking things from the office to there homes is something that does happen quite a bit at LMG. But at least Linus doesn't just fire them over it like some big companies would do.
@@filblo503 it is what he meant but the reality is he paid for the employee's services, not their house.
Kudos to Ed's wife, tho. She actually has the energy to tolerate a tech hoarder as husband.
Helps if she's a tech nerd
She must be the same
As a guy who respects cleanliness I can say its a bit worse than tech hording... DID YOU SEE THAT BATHROOM wtf even was that ?
@@Modelo646 Yep. More than tech hoarding. But with their home like this, it must be both of them like this and like/don't mind stuff was all over the place, everywhere. On shelfs, floors. Everywhere!
Did you see the same bathroom I saw? That’s not hoarding for a hobby, that’s a lazy pigsty.
Edzel and his wife look like a lot of fun. His and Her gaming setups including racing and VR is next level cool
Co-op VR is so great, especially zombie ones!
@@EdzelYago my wife gets motion sick from watching me race. She likes VR though, I should look into the quest

One might say Next Level Racing 😜
Even their cat is awesome.

Hands down one of the best things somebody could tell their boss. Lol
Linus is the CEO of a midsized company and still offers a weekend of his time to help a friend out with cleaning up his house. I appreciate that level of kindness
Yeah but He is not a regular CEO... he is a Linus CEO.
@Matt Hunkee Dennis and a few other employees like Luke have said that he went by to paint their houses and help fix their places up even without cameras rolling or anything. He has a track record of actually being a caring human being especially to his friends. And yes, his employees are also his friends beyond work.
@@talialalalala
Plus, why not film it too? They'd make more money which is financially beneficial for all parties involved. Hell, he could even do a Channel Super Fun where they paint someone's house and turn it into a contest. (Each person gets to paint a section of something, or something)
But yeh, from what I can tell he's a genuinely nice dude who actually cares about his employees and friends outside of work obligation.
Linus is also on record that he likes to be friends but if your going to be by the book. He will be by the book.
Overall by watching his videos + interactions it is safe to say he will help of asked
@@PiousSlayer I would say privacy as a reason not to film it but Intel extreme tech upgrade is a thing so I don't know about that.
1st : Linus the Hat actually fits and looks great on you. 2nd: I think maybe you hit on something here. This could be like a tech reality side show for you guys. Like the shows that build and remodel homes but technology up grades for friends and deserving people. I really like this episode. Bringing what was started at work and bring it to "real world" home installs , up grades and giving back to the community kinda thing. Anyway. I really like this episode.
I'd love this like pimp my ride meets extreme makeover home edition.
It's the HGTV and LTT crossover I've always wanted and never knew I did.
I think it would be awkward af
You know he's done like 15 of these right? Lol it sounds like this is the first one you've seen
@@BananJumper why is that ?
It's not like Linus and Camera crew just showed up unannounced . The the other guy knew he was getting the items because he ordered them. He knows what kind of guy his boss is because he is the longest existing employee of Linus.
I mean no disrespect but , honestly your comment proves what I said about possibly a "reality show " could work well.

tip: that wimpy compressor can get up to 60psi... if you want it to be more versatile, get the one with a small tank. its worth the extra dollars, and for hobby painting, you get more consistent air supply so your spray is more even.
Yeah but the one with out the tank was cheaper
A leaf blower is pretty great for getting dust out
@@tristanlopez4807 if you don't mind the noise and whatever the leaf blower sucked in.
Can you provide a link? I never thought about a better option to buying the wasteful cans of compressed air.
Edzel seems so kind and gentle. I like him so much! Especially when he was saying about the most important thing is if you are having fun and are happy.
I think Linus just does this series to snoop on his employees to get his stolen property back

@@EMOTIONOGRAPHY lmfao, what kinda spam you just got
The real MVP of this video is the cat for making them get a couch.
23:13 - purple monitor
Common problem on LCD monitors with LED backlights and high numbers of hours on them.
Wow, thanks for the info! I don't think I'll ever try it but that really helped me to understand what happened.
You should also add that taking apart a monitor is incredibly dangerous and you shouldn't do it unless you're very knowledgeable lol
@@GlorifiedGremlin You sound like a manufacturer anti-repair representative.
SAFETY AND SECURITY DON'T OPEN YOUR DEVICE111oNe!!@@! IT R DANGEROUS.
People DIY brake jobs on their cars and some states don't have vehicle inspections.
Repairing a modern LCD/LED monitor is benign. The only "dangerous" part is the switching power supply board, and people deal with more dangerous things than that on a daily basis, like frayed extension cords.
wait is the uv stuff harmful without the coating? and is the coating itself harmful when not on the screen?

The "tech tip" he said where you don't have to do things because others will do it for you when they are annoyed hits home to me...I always clean a few of my friends houses because they never do and it just annoys me looking at all their clutter and garbage.
It took my friend about a year to maintain a cleaner room and car.
I do that tooooo
@@fricstix7072 who the hell wants your friend to come to your house and start teaching you about how to keep your house clean and then make you clean it

Linus should make a series where he just helps his friends and coworkers with random projects around the house! This is great content for some reason, and it's not just the tech.
"longest standing employee"... give that man a chair finally, for gods sake
Isn't Ed the Editorial Manager?? He has his own office. I remember it from the last office tour.

Imagine a Linus Media Group parody of 'The Office', when it zoomed on Linus's face at the beginning it reminded me so much of Michael Scott
seeing the smiles on their faces when sitting next to each other in the driving sims honestly made the entire video for me. that shit was cute af
Something I learnt from an old WAN: when Linus first met Edzel, Edzel's business card had "not a serial killer" in small print on the reverse.

Linus is like that cool manager that makes sure you're eating and will let you take stuff home. "I will volunteer to come and spend a weekend helping you with this." Even though he digs on his employees, he actually really cares.
I saw the hats and IMMEDIATELY, I was like "Oh my God, he too!". Those hats are extremely comfortable, as I happen to own one (bit distressed from using it in the beach, but the distressing gives it character, I feel). Great content!
you can tell they've been working together for a LONG time, with the rash banter that goes back and forth.
Andy is like a one man laugh track in this sitcom of an episode and I love it.
Ok, this is my favorite upgrade video. It checks all the boxes:
✅stuff stolen from the office
✅Linus roasting employees over an open fire
✅a gpu that should've been broken but isn't
✅ Linus almost leveling an ikea desk
✅ stealing from children and crushing their dreams
What more can you ask for?
lmao
Maybe the office is a tech heaven, that's why Linus' employees always steal things from the office
Damm i agree 1000%!!
I totally want Linus and his wife to make a home flipper tv show. Or something along the lines of that. It’s just so funny watching Linus go through other peoples houses.
Props to the editors and the cameraman for cutting away to the kitty at regular intervals. Truly the best part of the video.

Whenever I see them building in Edzel's kitchen I keep having to remember they're in his house and not on the LTT kitchen set.
Seriously, I feel like the LTT kitchen is based on Edzel's kitchen lol.
It is, in part because Ed's kitchen and the original Langley kitchen are very similar.

The 1080Ti has a nice big shim around the die so it's pretty hard to crack a corner off. If anything, that amount of pressure would cause a concave bow in the cooler reducing contact :D

I'm less concerned about the messy apartments in and of themselves, but the fact that they know Linus and a camera crew are coming and none of the LTT employees can be bothered to clean up beforehand.
they probably _did_ clean up a bit, but i mean, they probably wanted, or maybe even linus told them specifically to not clean up their households that much so that it looks more.... lived in and such, mostly for the video

It's for the content man! It'd be boring if every house looked clean and presentable, when we know that's never the case - some folks have meticulously clean rooms, and others have chaos in a bottle.
I’ve got the same racing setup and absolutely love it

Linus: My employees are all thieves! Taking things from the office
Also Linus: Welcome to part 26 of upgrading my house with TH-cam videos.
Also Linus: sells old company inventory to employees for cheap
Dude. He's obviously kidding. If he wasn't, he wouldn't be comfortable showing it on video. Also, I don't think any employee would take anything important from the office anyway. Also, Linus Media Group is a corporation and company. If he makes money, a lot of money, and has influence enough to order tech from companies as a sponsorship deal, I don't see a problem with that. I really want a second video of Linus cleaning up this house and organizing things. How bad can we make Linus's anxiety? Plus Ed is just awesome.
I feel Ed. When I deep clean my workshop, it gets cluttered within a week. I totally understand where everything is at all times, but it looks messy to anybody who comes into my space.

Needed this today, thanks LTT.
I have a request. Send the files from the originals to an editor, let them make an "extended edition" of each build. If there's cutting room floor material worth it, I'd really enjoy seeing a longer cut of the process with each member.

The mounting plates on those arctic coolers is supposed to bend. It's thin, flexible metal. They use the flex in that plate instead of springs to limit mounting pressure. I've installed a bunch of those coolers when reviving dead minings cards and they all bend like that.
