I’m a single father and I have my own place and Ive been struggling to keep my job dealing with the sickness. I’m scared I don’t wanna lose my house. I stopped smoking marijuana yesterday and I’m really sick today but watching this video I started crying because someone actually understood what I’m going through. The best way I've gotten through CHS (5-6 times), was a heating pad on my stomach, many HOT showers, GD pedialite, zero sugar Gatorade, salt crackers with beef broth, WATERRRRRR, and Zofran.
I'm currently 16 days without weed and I'm feeling amazing, but the first 5 days were hell every time I quit.

That pain in your stomach is from constipation. Happens every time I quit. Drink coffee until you crap your brains out and make sure to drink lots of water and Gatorade and do some light exercise. The constipation is also what makes you feel nauseous.

@UnseemlyGenie00 how can someone be constipated when they can't even eat while going through this hell?

It differs from person to person significantly but everyone shares the stomach issues who has CHS. My biggest recommendation is to stop the use now for good. You’ll find out after a good amount of time being sober that it is definitely the root cause. Give it up now before it gets any worse brother. I dont know why we specifically suffer from it. But it’s just something we have to accept. It can get so much worse.

You’re exactly right, there’s very little awareness out there on this matter. That’s why i figured I’d start this channel. To bring awareness and to bring a community together who have been through it or are going through it to help each other. The more and more I find there’s a lot of people struggling with CHS.

Thank you for this I suffer from CHS, and just diagnosed what I have after 5 years of suffering. I have suffered intensely for the past 5 years and it has almost ruined my relationship. I am still suffering and just smoked today. I just learned about this CHS yesterday and I'm very scared. I know what I have to do to get better I'm just very confused about how to stop cannabis use. I've used it heavily for about 14 years. Everything you said in your video really hit home for me. I am going to try my absolute hardest now to quit cold turkey, I know it will be very hard, but I have to. I appreciate any support of any kind. I live in Wisconsin where it's illegal but I have still used it for half my life. Hey thanks for reaching out to me! This is exactly why I made this channel. I know there has to be people out there going through exactly what I went through and I wanted to make a community of people who want to help each other.
You found this page for a reason! I am here to help you however I can for as long as I can. If you have Instagram get with me on there and we can message a lot easier. Anytime of day doesn’t matter to me. @getbettertoday_1
As far as the quitting goes, it’s literally the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I still suffer from random relapses but thankfully I can break them instantly because I know exactly what to do and what steps to take.
It’s very simple, you have to stop the use 100%. No once a day or even once a week. No marijuana use 100% for 4 weeks. Once the 4 weeks passes (sometimes quicker for others) you will absolutely start to feel healthy and see how it’s working. You will be a new person and start to believe in the process.
I now exert all of my addiction energy into fitness and exercising. It’s helped me tremendously stay off of it and helps my body recover quicker and get healthier faster. You are going to be literally retraining your digestive system and brain.
It’s so much work I will tell you upfront. You will get so sick some days (first 1-10 days) but you have to stay the course! No matter what. If you fall back to marijuana you will start all over.
I will help you every single day. I will walk you through what helped me. I can also even give you the mental toughness program I put myself through to get my mind and energy off of marijuana use. (Absolutely free program)
Let me know what you think and how I can help.

Cheers, thanks for sharing your testimony on it. Pretty sure I had this brewing up something fierce recently… (as of last April or so…)
I wouldn’t throw up so much as uhh “the other direction” let’s say.. but still- some of the most miserable feeling I have ever had. At first I chalked it up to food poisoning, but I really don’t think so. Felt so drained and like I might seriously die (or pass out, on the verge of passing out from not being able to stop my body from “draining” nonstop for hours on end. Horrible affliction!! Once my body started to become numb all over (unable to even leave the bathroom..) I started to get nervous. I live alone too so it was very disconcerting. Didn’t know much about CHS during that first episode…
Went about 6 months before I finally decided I would take a break from smoking (for full disclosure started around 19- 38 now.. took breaks for a few years here and there but really started going ham on it with basically daily use around 31 years old..) I think edibles becoming more prevalent got me consuming too much high potency too often also..
Anyway after I hung it up after a bad flu / fever recently I had another horrible bout. Not on par with the first episode but very similar feeling (this second episode lasted about a day whereas the first huge one lasted nearly 5 days of being unable to eat much of anything, stuck in bed curled up or wandering to the bathroom, all day long...) Super drained. Pale. Cold sweats, numbness, nausea… it’s really hard to explain accurately without sounding “dramatic” to others that haven’t experienced it. I had a bad bout with Covid when it first popped up but it was nothing compared to the CHS symptoms. it’s one of the only times I’ve legitimately thought I might die from being unable to stop my body from expelling its contents non-stop. I’m bummed because I loved being stoned and zoned out on some things (gaming especially.. or up snowboarding…) but I’m trying to relearn how to love and enjoy those things without relying on the greenery to amp them up.
I haven’t had anything in about 34 days now but i know it’s gonna be a struggle to keep to it in the future, especially with so many friends that still partake… I wonder if I’ll be able to have any amount ever again, but- trying to just look at it as poison to my system and a cause of problems. Didn’t think I’d ever be saying that years ago to now…
Sorry for the very long comment, just sharing my own experience with this that others might read through and relate to..

Thank you for sharing. Good read.
I feel every word you said. Shit sucks.
But it’s reality and we have to deal with it the best we can.
The future will be extremely difficult as to staying away from it. I’ve had many relapses and gone through all of this so many different times it’s frustrating to think about. Been healthy get sick. Get healthy for a year then smoke and get sick. Never ending cycle. But YOU CAN DO IT. I believe in you. I don’t know why we suffer from CHS but all I know is we do. Someday we will found out why I hope. I truly do. I want to help anybody I can get the knowledge they need to make the decision to quit. It’s a very lonely battle to go through. Like you said, NOBODY understands unless they have been through it.

Thank you for sharing this. I have been going through a litany of doctor tests and have been getting scared that everything seems okay with me on paper, but I’ve never been in so much stomach pain in my life.
I had been sick with what I thought was food poisoning for the past month. Other than 2x I did vomit, it’s all been coming out the other end.
I’ve been really scared not knowing what’s happening, I was so happy when my sister in the medical field told me to look into this!! I’ve been trying to find a story similar to mine to make sure this could be something I’m going through. As much as I have smoked pretty much 24/7 for the past 12yrs, it does seem likely I messed up my system with THC.
I’ve stopped smoking starting today officially. Thank you for your story, it gives me the faith I need to try this for myself to see if I will get better :)
It’s so crazy though… As awful as I have felt for the past month in so much nausea and pain, I have had very little interest in smoking. Like, normally if I’m sick I’ll smoke myself to oblivion and escape any pain and put myself to sleep. But my body knows better than I do what is not good for it.
Thank you so much everyone for sharing. It’s so nice to know I’m not alone and IM NOT CRAZY!
This issue has been causing such a problem with my friends, family and marriage for the past month. Having to bail, cancelling plans, or not feeling up to doing anything celebratory. It’ll be so nice to have a normal life again.
Praying for everyone here. May we all find peace and healing ❤️‍🩹

im from australia and ive suffered from severe CHS for the last 10 years.
ive had over 50 hospital visits in that time.
here in australia its not talked about and chs is believed to be some what of a myth here.
and because of that i become so sick and spent way to much time of my life in hot showers and emergency rooms.
hospital kept telling me was chs and i couldnt believe that something i love so much could cause me so much pain (weed).
i first got chs when i was in my early 20s now im 31 and im still struggling to completely kick the weed out of my life.
i found that being a heavy smoker was key to me becoming so sick and eventually hospitalized especially smoking through water pipe(bongs)
so now ive found away that specifically works for me (i do not recommend this for anyone else)
now i smoke joints with a tobacco mix with minimal use just one at night to help me sleep and i very rarely get any chs symptoms accept for some occasional belly pains.
my end goal is to completely kick the weed out but for some reason just the thought of saying goodbye to weed is so daunting.

Hey thank you for your story and for reaching out!
That’s awesome you have find a temporary solution.
I was the same way, I wouldn’t believe it was the marijuana doing the harm. How could something so good that’s supposed to be medicine hurt me this bad? I had those same thoughts.
Unfortunately or fortunately however you look at it I came to the conclusion and decided to just give a try to get sober. I had nothing to lose at that point. And sure enough 30-35 days later I was 100% healthy.
I do have to say that in my experience your CHS will return slowly over time. Sometimes at random times when you think you’re healthy. I tried the once a week thing and just never worked for me. So my best advice (I know how damn hard it is and a lot easier said than done) but just getting off the plant 100%. The life you have ahead of you is indescribable how good it is without the worry of CHS what so ever.
Let me know how I can help! I’m an open book about it and can help in any ways you need.

Hello. Recovering after stopping marijuana cold. Hang in there and use whatever strategy you can to stay sober. Everyone is different. But the reward is great. Once the widtdrawals start waning, you feel almost reborn i kid you not. Faith in godly beeing with prayers help me re-focus and become healthier. Eat at fixed times, even if you aint hungry. Your body needs fuel to funcrion. First days i ate, stawberry yougurt, chicken noodle soups, raw carrots, turnips. BLT sandwitches, plenty of clean good water 8 glasses a day. This helps flush your body. It takes discipline but your life is worth it. Im on my 3rd week totally sober. Please trust me on this, never ever use weed again.Thank you all and follow my lead.

The only problem I’ve had with CHS is I’ve become an alcoholic. I’ve attended AA meetings and everything but after the addiction of cannabis I just can’t let go of feeling better off of other substances. It’s so hard. I almost died from CHS and now I’m almost dying from alcoholism, no crazy stuff like liver damage but just the fact that I keep getting drunk on binges just to fall asleep. I had one good period for 8 months where I just went to the gym and dieted but honestly cannabis addiction is something else. I’ll never get over that whimsical high. The one time I felt better about my mood was when I took shrooms and that’s when I started going to the gym. I really wish I could start doing the gym thing again. Disclaimer I’m wasted right now and that’s why I’m venting. I love you all and I hope you guys can get over this speedbump in life because it’s horrible. I feel the same I started smoking weed when I was 12 and continued for about 5 years I got sick over and over not believing that it was weed that was the root of the problem untill one day I went to the ER and they diagnosed me with CHS. Ever since I quit smoking weed about 6 months ago. I stopped hanging out with my buddy's that smoked with me all the time. But recently I started hanging out with them again and I feel like I want to smoke again. But instead I just drink. I've realized that I just love feeling high or drunk. And i know if I start smoking again then it's gonna just fuck me up again. That's why I've been resorting to drinking but I'm scared that I'm gonna become an alcoholic. I'm currently 17 and I feel your pain bro it's a struggle for us all. I feel like we need to learn why we resort to such things. Can it be that we don't have other things in life to make us happy ? Or can it be depression? Honestly I don't know anymore but I hope you and me get better brother.

I'm currently 17 and 6 months clean off of weed. I've been feeling a little better but there's still times when I really wanna smoke weed. Any time i see someone smoking in movies, video games or even just people around me on real life. I get the urge to smoke but I try to tell myself that I'm doing myself a favor by not doing. Before i stopped smoking weed I used to hang out with my friends and we used to all smoke all the time and there my best friends. I felt I was only able to quit smoking weed by not hanging out with them and cutting them off. But it's been 6 months without them and I miss em so I started hanging with them. And I feel happy being with these people cause there the few people that are my actual best friends no body can compare to this group. And they understand my sickness and what I've been battering that's why they understood that's why I didn't talk to them for a couple months and even know if I try to smoke with them they won't give me weed or try to get me to smoke with them. But I feel myself relapsing because I love my friends and I love smoking weed with them. But I know I can't. And I know our friendship isn't all about smoking weed together but sometimes I feel sad and left out by not be able to just smoke up with them. And since I haven't been smoking with them then I just start to drink. So Idk what to do. I don't wanna cut off my friends again cause I fee like I have no one else so. And I don't wanna keep drinking cause it'd just gonna hurt me in the long run. So it seems my only solution to my problems are to stay sober but I like feeling intoxicated so Idk what to do.

    Consumed weed for 45 years.
Started getting massive fatigue it was scarey so i stopped and it took 2 weeks to go away.
Went back pounded my cannabutter again ,one night starting sweating like i never sweat before and massive fatigue again.
Stopped for 2 weeks went back and 1 night i started to get stomach pain and then i knew it was CHS.
Never threw up never even felt like throwing up.
I decided im done with weed
Stomach pain lasted around 35 days now im feeling better and better everyday.
I guess im lucky because no matter how much i love something if its hurting me physically i can just walk away and never look back
Was diagnosed with mild copd over 8 years ago smoked for 35 years tossed the ciggs away never looked back and have zero breathing problems now.
Use to smoke weed and the diagnoses of mild copd forced me into edibles cause i had no choice didn't want to hurt my lungs.
Anyway walking away from something you love is possible folks if you want a better life
    Wish you all luck .

Would love to know how long it took you until you felt 100% better. I am 21 and about to turn 22. May 23rd was the last day I smoked. It's been about 82 days. Started heavily when I was a sophomore in high school, and guess I just speed-ran it into getting chs. I resonated with you saying the 35 days of hell. It took me about a month and a half until I even felt like a human being again. Spent that whole month pretty much rotting on the couch getting at home ivs done by my mother to avoid the hospital. I feel a whole world better than I did at the beginning of May. But I still wake up most mornings very shaky and riddled with anxiety. Takes me almost till 1pm every day to start feeling better. I am not new to pain. I had a ruptured appendix in high school and I did not go to the hospital for 3 days after it ruptured and spent two weeks in the hospital. Have broken my elbow super badly and around 6 surgeries down with that. But this is a whole different beast. I am almost about 3 months out from smoking but still just don't always feel like I am there yet. I’ve gone through a journey of seeing so many doctors after 5 years of being very sick. It’s been debilitating. Ive been told it could be a number of things I even had a Nissan fundoplication surgery that I did not need. This surgery makes you not able to throw up which is horrible with this condition. I’ve never been properly diagnosed but deep down I know it’s CHS. I’m about two weeks sober and I still feel awful but you need to stay strong. I get very nauseas I don’t throw up as much like others but I get a lot
Of chest discomfort and I cough up a lot of gnarly congestion. I’m curious if this happens to anyone else with this condition? I feel like my symptoms don’t necessarily align with everyone who gets this but maybe it affects people in different ways. I owe it to myself to quit for good and see how it affects me. I love the kush and for anyone that smokes weed do it in moderation so you don’t go through this. Once you get it you can’t go back and I regret not smoking in moderation. If you can control the mucus production you can speed up recovery.
Your body produces most mucus late at night early am, hence the word, hyper emesis, which means morning sickness.
The stomach fills up with mucus and with nothing in your stomach you can digest it nor can you process it though the liver. Your body than treats it as a posion and starts send nauseous signals to induce vomiting.
I found that if i wake up every 30min and eat as much fruit and bread as i can it will start help.
The reason, because the food binds with the mucus and you can process it.
Do not use capsaicin cream, as it burns like hell in the shower.
Believe it or not masterbaution will releve symptoms in some people for 30 min, enough to get a quick nap in before pukeing agian.
But the only thing that took all symptoms away was opiates, and dried out the mouth, so no mucus, and it calmed all the muscles in the stomach, so no quivering, and it blocks the THC receptors use at your own risk, but like me, I would’ve took anything to make the symptoms go away.
    Good luck and stop smoking

Since this experience, I took 3 months off smoking and went back to it (also like mentioned in the video) although I never went back to smoking the amount I have before and have not felt sick since. And it’s the best life you can ever imagine. I struggle with the addiction part horribly. So using every now and again is not an option for me. 10 days quitting now after about 20 years of increasingly heavy smoking daily, this last 4 months i was smoking hash, i think thats what sent me here, i only had nausea and headaches, and had mild chills and flu like symptoms but thats withdrawal i think. i dont want to quit, im just having a tolerance break and waiting for mild CHS symptoms to pass then im probably going to try to stick to smoking once a week and in that time find out if it reoccurs again . ive read some peoples stories that they can safely return to smoking again but considerably less usage, i hear to stay away from concentrates and stick to flower below 17% THC. i also hear that if your the type that hasnt been smoking long and suffer CHS then its likely you wont be able to go back to it without problems, but if you have been a long term smoker you have more chance of being able to go back to it without symptoms so long as you dont consume high THC content and be meticulous with your tolerance. i think the reason its becoming more and more common is because concentrates and high THC strains are much more common these days.

Please keep us updated daily at this point if you can because this hits very close to me because of my last episode.
My diet plan, along with Gavins, is going to help you with the food part of it.
I recommend getting a heating pad or a sock with rice or beans in it and microwaving it and putting it on your stomach.

I’m 8 days into a chs attack and i feel like I’m dying. Still can’t hold water down. I went to the ER 3 days ago to get an IV but was sent home after about 2 hours. It takes sooooo much energy to get to the ER that I have not tried to go back yet. Vomiting 20+ times every day and can’t sleep. It’s pure torture.

Have you stopped the use of cannabis 100%?
The pain is horrible. It fucks with your mind so much. But I promise you WILL get better. You have to stay the course. You have to stay off and eliminate cannabis use 100% no exceptions.
Are you able to eat anything at all? And I mean even bites of things and hold it down?

@@getbettertodayCHS I have stopped using cannabis 100 percent and this pain is so bad I really don’t want to go back to it. I’m still throwing up. I had 2 bites of chicken noodle soup but couldn’t hold it down. I may be back in the ER today for more fluids

@@chrisrodoussakis something that really helped me is taking small sips of a cold protein drink. Gets the essentials into you. Try taking a sip every hour.
