    I like that he pauses when he pushes the gas so we can hear the exhaust sound, love that about the reviewer, he did that with the M3 video also. as a car enthusiast who is depressed from car videos on youtube which feature amazing cars but their sounds are covered with ridiculously bad music, it is refreshing to see some one who knows how to review a car. Thank you

    If you think this is a great car, try the Turbo S. It will blow you away. When you accelerate your facial muscles pull right back on your face. It's awesome....

    Anywhere. The CAmry XLE 3.5L is $30,000. 1999 Carrera is now $20,000. Another $4000 over the Camry and you can even get a Turbo which was a $100k car. OK, I take that back. Did the math. With 2003 Camry/Carrera4s, the C4S retained 5% more of it's value than the Camry. Camry $30k>$7k. Carrera $90k>$30k. Very interesting. Now I want to check OTHER cars in Porsche class to see if other cars of that type did better or worst.

  • @carlylespicks
    @carlylespicks 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    WOW! IT's worst with 2009 Audi S6 and 2009 911. The Audi dropped about 50% while the 911 is almost the same price still. WOW! I stand corrected then.

    I completely agree with you. I normally dont wish harm on anyones career, but he comes closest. He is extremely insulting and belittling. What makes it worst, he hasn't proved to be anything substantial. Arrogant without a cause, definition of the perfect troll. As for sanity is concerned, he is clearly hallucinating. Lets not waste a keystroke on this guy, as we know trolls feed on attention. Let him fade into obscurity where he belongs.

  • @JayWestSings

    Alright then. It takes an insecure, sad person to feel demeaned by someone else's successes, or as you say, proclaim successes. That's on you 2, not me. I'm not going to withhold my truths, whether you believe them or not, just to make you feel better. That's foolish. Feel however you want about what I've said about myself or anything else, but keep note, when you or Brido made claims, I didn't shut them down. I can feel happy for other people regardless, and them being honest doesn't affect me.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Jay, guess what? I have decided to end this, because you can do this for the end of time, I can't. I have so many projects both personal and financial to direct my time on. It took me long to realise that this is pointless and wasteful, my bad on my part. Continue to live in this false reality, it is not going to improve your life and is not affecting mine. You made statement that is not applicable and have obnoxious aura about them, which is not jealousy derived, but demeaning to others.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    LOL, why did you close it buddy? Just a question, was the reality too hard to take? You said yourself, it was for you and music lovers? Where was the love? Music lover implies bias, why weren't they feeling your amazing voice? Perhaps, it was a good call on your part to keep the DREAM alive. Speaking of dreams, why stop at porsche? Theres Bentleys, oh yeah you got that too, well your parent got a pair of them. There's Buggati, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and so on.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I never said i was trained, i have started to play the piano, even with my current vocal abilities i probably can still take you, you dont get it, your voice is nothing worth mentioning. Go back to your video, take a look at your likes bar, this is an indicator to, how well received the video is. As the video is based around your voice, it suggests that your voice is not well received. To make it worse, people look for video with bias, ie, they have a tendency to like the video. CASE CLOSED.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Again, what gives you this position on the throne? What have you done that makes you so ready and able to judge other people based on things you can't know? You hardly answer the question at all which leaves people to assume you have genuinely done nothing important at all. You haven't mentioned your income, how you get it, what you do as a hobby, really anything about yourself. You just point the finger and thrust the mirror at other people, but have clearly never turned it on yourself.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Singers usually don't have websites, especially when that isn't their main source of income. You're told by agencies whether it be modeling, acting or singing to avoid a website until you build a significant audience to view it. I'm not doing big Hollywood movies or high value stage productions, so that'd be pointless. That's between me and my agent and manager, not you. I'm intelligent, and not lying.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought is was a simple case of, if you can sing or not, I didn't realise there is more to this than that. And you my friend can't, wake up from this dream. The videos I posted was just from a game and testing the game system, it was a one off event. There is no substance in your statements, you can type clearly and concisely, but your points are irrelevant. On the contrary, you are using youtube to showcase your talents, which are abysmal.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I never said the money was from my music at all. I explicitly said I make the least of my money from music right now. A "crown"? Oh wow..stop, now. I understand your "skepticism", but I don't care. You seemingly do nothing, but judge everyone. Do you know what it takes to be a model? You do know that there are the models most people think about, thin and angular, then there are "real" models, more commonly called "plus size". I'm thin, but not a twig. I've done commercial modeling, regardless

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, the fact you generated enough money to mindlessly buy a bentley from your "musical prowess" and not about to show one video of you performing in front of a crown, is just plain absurd. Lots of musical bands perform for free and even then, some of them have videos to help raise profile. Do you understand my scepticism? You being a model is beyond a joke, to be fair models tend to be conceited individuals. The truth is sharper than the knife, and i can feel your pain in your posts.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the record, you copied my quote but still didn't understand it. I clearly said, just as you claim, that "The Nissan GT-R IS MORE WORKING CLASS than the Bentley because the price tag is a bit cheaper." Meaning, compared to the Bentley, a working class citizen would feel MORE comfortable, not comfortable in general but in comparison, to paying more money for a Bentley than a GT-R. But, of course, you know all. Thanks for enlightening us, Oh Great and Knowledgeable One. Your peasants thank you.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm condescending? While random people are assuming things about my life they can't possibly know and insulting not only my lifestyle and career, but me personally even down to my parents and the value of how I live, but I'M the condescending one here? I was explaining as a regular guy who owns the car, not a vehicle expert or real enthusiast, that the car is awesome. Your opinion is that I'm no one special, but you don't know me. To you, I may not be, and that's fine. YOU DON'T MATTER TO ME.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You make it sound as though I have to prove anything to you, as if you're worth it or your opinion matters to anyone besides yourself. Like I said from the start, a majority of my money came from and is coming from stage performances, so yeah, I have programs from those performances. I never said I was incredibly successful, you're all just assuming that because I've made money at it, but of course, none of you what jobs I've taken or when, or what those jobs required. None of you know anything.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    They're not driving nice cars because of my savings account, they're driving them because of their achievements, just as I'm driving mine because of my achievements. You made the statement as though my savings account paid for all these things, which isn't what I said at all. I never said I was rich. Do you know how long it took me to save up that money to pay for the car? Of course not.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    No. I started singing at 4, training at 5, and was cast in stage shows for musicals and plays, skits and acts. But yes. My parents acted in school through college and wanted to get my involved. I liked the idea and the practice, so they shopped around for an agency. They found one they liked, and started a trust fund, basically. My parents had money long before I was even born, so no. The way you made the statement wasn't accurate.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Now you're a musical expert, right? When did I ever say $700 a day? I also get deductions from traveling to auditions, the gas I use, the mileage on my car, any wardrobe I buy myself. You clearly don't know the entertainment business at all, do you? As a model/actor, you may not work for 2 months at a time, depending on how auditions go. You don't work 7 days a week unless you're cast in a movie, series or documentary.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    And I've been doing all this on top of singing since I was about 4 or 5 years old. My parents put it all into a savings account that I couldn't use until I turned 16. Yeah, my parents give me stuff from time to time. They worked their asses off to get the careers they have and it'd be foolish not to share that with someone, especially your own children. Every parent dreams of being able to support their kids in any way possible, so why use that against someone who actually achieved that dream?

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think it's your place to judge how "graceful" I am. So you're only a couple years older than me, but acting like because I'm 19, I can't possibly afford a 911 without my parents help? :P That's hilarious. How much time do I spend watching YT? I act, model and sing. Modeling and acting pay very well, right now, 1 modeling gig will pay at least $550 for an 8 hour day, extra if its over 8 hours. acting pays differently depending on the client, but anywhere from $500-$1500 for 8 hours.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    And why would working class people be on a Porsche video? Unless it's Boxster :P...But seriously. I'm supposed to cater my comments to peoples feelings even though they're watching a video about a car they'll potentially never be able to afford? THAT'S RIDICULOUS! I think you're upset because you know you won't be able to, so you hate on the people who can and/or have...Jelly Clarkson :P Hence why I said, "grow up"...

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can't brag about something that isn't true..I'm 19. So it's inconsiderate the way I said it? Pardon me, then. I'm not spoiled. You still don't know where the money comes for me OR my parents, so you can't possibly know that. You're just mad at me for not being like you. That's illogical. Instead of attacking people for living a life you wish you had, why not do something effect to directly change your life? I've been living on my own since I was 15, so sit down. I've been in the real world.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was explaining to people who might be thinking about getting it that it's worth the money, so long as they have it. Saying that people with money have better things to do than go online, even though this is the 21st century, is a logical fallacy. How is it inconsiderate? And how is it retarded? No arrogance at all. I was doing it for people to understand how much it costs for one beyond stock, and that it's worth it. I paid for it, they didn't. Grow up, dude. Don't hate cause you can't get it.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did, not lying or bragging just explaining. The car is being sold to the public, yeah? You don't know anything about me, but you automatically assume I'm lying and why is that? It obviously can't be because you know something about me that says I didn't buy the car, so it must be that you know YOU can't buy the car for whatever reason, and therefore, someone clearly younger than you can't either, at least in your mind. You don't know what I do, or my parents do, for money, or how much we make.

  • @abumperevening
    @abumperevening 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review, but really the reviewer needs some experience with older air-cooled Porsches...
    On tight and challenging roads there is no substitute for a car with excellent sight-lines and tight dimensions; the old 911 had these qualities, the new one would rather accommodate fat kids in the backseat and fatter drivers up front. Also, the old steering gives loads more feedback, so you know where the limits of adhesion are... I notice the reviewer didn't get the car sideways once...

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good steering is good steering...whether it's electric or hydraulic. Certain manufacturers do it better than others, and the Porsche's system is one of the better ones.
    I liked the EPS on the current M3, as well as the hydraulic PS on the 1M. As long as it gives good feedback and precision, I don't care what the technology is. I wouldn't consider the EPS a reason to NOT buy a new 911.

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, when race cars were still using shift LEVERS (which is what I was talking about), the pattern was to pull back on it for upshifts and push for downshifts, for exactly the reasons I laid out. I'm not talking about the paddles attached to the wheel...I'm talking about the actual shift lever in the center console. BMW have the proper layout on their transmission and Porsche do not.

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Right now I don't have much $, so I'm gonna have to go with the M3 at $60K over the 911 at almost $100K.
    I do like the M3 better even though it's slower. It's more fun to rev it out, the DCT > PDK, and since it's a normal FR layout it's easier and more predictable to slide around. It also has a normal-sized trunk and a bigger back seat, and those things are important to me. Tough choice...great question.

  • @FeintMotion
    @FeintMotion 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mid-engined, as the rest of the world knows it, is when the centre of mass of the engine is between the centre line of the front and rear wheels. Rear-engined is when the CoM is behind the centre line of the rear wheels. Front-engined is when the CoM is ahead of the centre line of the front wheels. A Honda Civic is Front-engined. A Corvette C6 is Front Mid-engined. An Audi R8 is Rear Mid-engined. Every 911 up to the current 991 is Rear-engined.

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    To all the commenters who took issue w/my comments about the shifter:
    My issue is with the shift lever, not the paddles. The paddles work great as-is.
    But the lever is a different story. When you're hauling the car down from high speeds + downshifting, it's more natural (and IMO safer) to push against the lever instead of pulling it.
    Look at videos of sequential race cars, and they basically all require pulls for upshifts, and pushes for downshifts. BMW does it right and so does Mazda.

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    On a track, of course. I have little doubt that this car would touch 130-140 on the back straight at VIR.
    And if you listen carefully, I say "shift lever," not 'paddle.' When you're braking down from high speeds, you're bracing against the steering wheel and the brake pedal. Having to pull the shifter under hard braking upsets the driver's balance in the cockpit. Make sense now?

  • @ShermanMR2
    @ShermanMR2 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Ross two things for you. One, is that you're totally wrong about the shift paddles. I've driven many cars on the racetrack and what you say never happens.
    And the second thing is every childhood dream car, seriously I don't think so. Have you ever heard of something called a Ferrari or Lamborghini you could probably use that statement for those two brands but not really a Porsche.

  • @isaiahtrouwloon
    @isaiahtrouwloon 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Finally. A reporter that hates the shift pattern on these VAG-cars. Everybody else just seems to deal with it. But Ross is right!! Push to downshift, pull to upshift!! And let manual mode actually be manual!! Geez, it's hard enough that they're taking all the manuals. When l can afford these cars, l hope the manual hasn't gone away.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, I wanted to leave a comment on your video, just to emphasise how AMAZING your voice is. Guess what? It was subject to uploader approval, What a coincidence. To be honest i rather be a nobody than a nobody who is conceited, because that nobody can see where he stands and has a better chance to better himself.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brido, have seen what this kid have been saying? Is he typing out his ass? He claims to be a model, but has no portfolio? He claims to be a paid singer, but have you heard his voice? Surely, if you are earning as much as he says, surely he could afford a personal website? This guy has no credibility, just trolling on the internet for attention.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You know what prove me wrong, prove to me you are not a troll? You can post a video with yourself in a car. What i really want to see is, media content of your performances. I know for a fact that, most singer have websites, videos etc to showcase their ability and help build profile. I bet you cannot do this.

  • @bobbyv369
    @bobbyv369 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    What is this obsession with turning 18 and so on. You are starting to talk a lot of nonsense and in the midst of you rant, you called me uneducated, which i find rather amusing. You are a condescending individual who has has high regards to his talents, when the simple fact is, you are no one special, money or without money.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm not obsessed with Porsche, so no, I didn't know that. I never claimed to be highly educated on the brand, but purchasing one doesn't require that knowledge. Believe whatever you want dude. You can't prove any of it, and it's a waste of conversation. You're a waste of time. Don't worry about me, what I drive or don't drive. It's none of your concern, at least it shouldn't be.

  • @JayWestSings
    @JayWestSings 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's cool. I got one in December, but the 2013 model. I only needed to pay $170k, but I paid cash and got it for only $162k. Everything runs and functions like you'd expect from a Porsche. But we all know the car is nice...Ross, on the other hand? His driving seems terrible, especially in this video. His handling is really inaccurate, at least from this footage.

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    The biggest thing is that children can actually fit. Charlie has remarked that he has no use for a 2-seater anymore, having 2 kids...but could make room in his life for a 911, possibly. Those two rear seats are a godsend if you ever carry more than one person. Even if there aren't people sitting back there, they can handle a bunch of luggage or a dog w/no issues.

  • @colin4393

    Do have any idea what we Aussies have to pay for a standard 911!

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sometimes you'll find that in mid-corner situations, you can't find the paddle because it rotates with the wheel. so being able to reach down and shift with the lever is a welcome option. BMW, Mazda, Nissan, and Ferrari address this issue in various ways...Porsche should too.

  • @superman7890
    @superman7890 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'll have to disagree with you on the paddle shifters. Why would you want to push for a downshift? When you wrap your hand around a wheel, it is much more natural for your hands to pull, than to flick back as you describe. What do you do on a 3-2 downshift in a manual while braking?

  • @georgearmerding
    @georgearmerding 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You arent a Porsche guy and you didnt drive it hard enough. If you did handling issues 1 and 2 would have been snap oversteer at the limit and loss of confidence when the front becomes unloaded. Those are two things they cant get rid of unless they put 400 pounds over the front end

    No--the paddles are fine. I'm clearly referring to the console shifter. BMW does it right: pull on the stick for upshifts, push for downshifts. Sequential race boxes are like this for exactly the reason I'm talking about.

  • @rossrapoport5197
    @rossrapoport5197 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    listen genius, I'm not talking about the paddles on the wheel, which are fine. I'm talking about the lever on the console...I want it to be like a sequential racing box, where you pull to upshift, and push to downshift.

  • @MuffinHatred
    @MuffinHatred 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    He wants to push on the gear lever to downshift, not the paddles. Also I never heard him say "push button shifters" throughout his entire video. I think you need to pay attention more before you start criticizing.

    Okay so you were referring to the "stick". Yet, why would you remove your hands from the wheel to use the "stick" under hard driving, when you have paddle shifters? That is the sole advantage of putting them behind the wheel.

    You didn't do your signature pocket and cup holder run down, are there none? :(
    Would love to see a review on the new Ford Focus ST and the new 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe.
    Keep up the great work and reviews :)

    Do I think "youtube automotive shows", as a whole, surpass the "shit on tv", as a whole, yes I do. I love Top Gear dont get me wrong. But there's not much else out there. TH-cam variety for the win.

    LEVER not PADDLE.
    The paddles are set up the right way, but the lever isn't.
    Porsche realized their mistake and the newer 911s like the GT3 have the lever set up the way I wanted it.

  • @isaiahtrouwloon
    @isaiahtrouwloon 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    he's talking about the stick in the center console. Not the paddles on the steering wheel. And btw, Porsche used to have a pdk where you pushed and pulled on the steering wheel paddles

    I give a lot of credit for porches with their curb weight for the all their vehicles. I think BMW should also work on the M5, M3 and M6 a lot more to cut those weight down a little bit...

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's because I didn't say "paddle." I said "lever." The lever is the main gear selector in the center console. The paddles are attached to the steering wheel. Does that clear it up?

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Obviously the way I said it has made people think I'm talking about the paddles, but I pretty clearly said 'shift lever.' Maybe I was clicking the paddles while talking about it?

  • @TypeR1013
    @TypeR1013 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I said this to someone else, but it bears repeating: I am talking about the LEVER, not the paddles. Watch the video again and you will see. The orientation of the paddles is just fine.

    Porsche's manuals are just so-so. I haven't tested the new 7MT but the previous 6MT feels a little flimsy. If I were to ever order a Porsche I think I'd have to go w/PDK.

    Ross you complained this car downshifted when you pushed the throttle to 100%. To me that is a great safety feature in a panic situation. Good review otherwise Ross.

    The PDK is so good, it is better then you in manual ;-) Buy the true manual if you want the control, if you want to shed seconds, leave it in auto (sport plus)

    Push paddles? Every late version BMW (with the exception of the M cars), with an automatic sport suspension, had them. Inform yourself before you speak.

    gotchya! Thats muuuch different. My old Acura TL-S was that way and it was a tad convenient. What's confusing is you never use or show the "lever" and you are hitting the shifters on the wheel while making your point. Buuut... Deep down I'm jealous of your gig. ;-)
