    I made this today for my mum, not out to cause upset but we both thought it was too sweet and too thick. If i was to doo it again id drain the juices from the frozen fruit and cook it out with corn flour first, to get the thickness i want. And probably use 2 thirds the sugar. Cheers from uk

    I had no idea that the order or fruit on the label coordinated with the amount of each fruit in the bag! I totally learned something new! Your crust always looks amazing and the extra sugar on top was a great touch. It looked delicious to me! 🍓

      Hi, Lisa!
      Yes, if it is listed first, there is more of that ingredient than others. I just wish that the bag of mixed berries had exact amounts.
      I worked hard on my crust, and I came out perfectly golden brown.
      The sugar was a nice touch, I agree. Very delicious!

      Hi, Andrea!
      Yes, when possible, I give both grams and cups. I prefer grams, but I know that most people in the USA do not use them...perhaps I can help to change that, haha.
      The raspberry thing is complicated. I like fresh raspberries, as well as raspberry jam...but I guess not in pies. I honestly don't think it's the seeds, either...not sure why.

    Parnell what a delicious mixed berry pie love the presentation. You made it easy by just using a mixed frozen berries that had a combination of strawberry blueberry raspberry and blackberries they all sound amazing. And your homemade pie crust is the best I must say and you crimp that pie crust like a professional looks beautiful great idea of sprinkling sugar on top of the piecrust. You mentioned it wasn’t your favorite because of the raspberries but I do love raspberries so I might love this mixed berry pie
    Great recipe

    • @ParnellTheChef

      Hi again, Jeff!
      Yes, using a bag of frozen mixed berries to make the filling of this berry pie makes everything very easy!
      I put a lot of time and effort into my pies, so I like to crimp the edges to make them look nice. Thanks for noticing!
      The bit of sugar on top was a nice touch, so if you make a pie, I highly suggesting giving that a try.
      I like fresh raspberries, even raspberry jam, but I guess that I don't like raspberries in pies or cakes for some reason...not sure why.
      Thanks for watching, Jeff!👨‍🍳🥧🍓

    That is always a bummer when something you cook doesn't come out as good as you want. But, we live & learn and eat it anyway : ). You need to get one of those pie birds that sits in the pie to let the steam escape so you don't have to cut the slits. You would get your use out of one for sure.

      Hi, TJ!
      You are right, it's a bummer when something doesn't turn out as well as we had expected...but then I take it as a learning experience and eat it anyway, haha.
      I learned that I don't really care for cooked raspberries. I have even had them in a Chilean "kutchen" cake, and they were fair...so now it is confirmed.
      I do need a pie bird! I would definitely get a lot of use out of it, for sure!

      Hello Parnell. The English like pasties. I thought why not use any filling so I have been experimenting. Pasties have one advantage, you don't need to pre cook the base and puff pastry seems to cook better all over providing the filling isn't too wet. If it is and you have a leak - OOPS! I cook mine on a pizza tray, helps the base cook evenly. They are usually around 15 / 18 inches by whatever so perhaps 'pastie' isn't quite the right word. Strangers usually say 'Bl**dy hell' which is roughly your 'Oh my God'. I have subd and about to rummage through all your videos. Keep well. Regards.

    Can you skip the lemon juice?

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Zen!
      Although you could skip the lemon juice and still have a good pie, I highly recommend that you do not.
      A lot of recipes for homemade berry jams and jellies include some lemon juice. Lemon juice really brings out the flavor of berries; in fact, the first strawberry pie I ever made was very mediocre because I left out the lemon juice. However, when I filmed the video last year for my channel, I included some lemon juice, and the flavor absolutely blew me away.
      Like I said, the pie will work out without the lemon juice, especially since mixed berries have tart berries like raspberries and blackberries, but I still highly recommend that you add it.
      Happy Baking! 🥧🍓🍋

    What is the temperature and cook time for crusts that are not blind baked? That is, if I bake the whole pie with both crusts not previously baked?

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Sally!
      If you do not blind bake the bottom crust before assembling the pie, I would still bake the pie at 350 F. You may have to bake the pie for a few extra minutes, but I would keep an eye on the top crust to make sure that it doesn't brown too much. However, honestly, I think the pie would probably be fine if you just bake it for the amount of time I suggest.

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!
      It definitely is a lot of sugar, but it's needed to help offset the tartness of the blackberries and raspberries. Without adding a good amount of sugar, this pie would be good...but a lot of people wouldn't think it was sweet enough to be a dessert, imo
