  • Learn how to make the Ultimate Berry Crumble! Unlike most of the recipes that call themselves the "ultimate," this amazing berry crumble is, and has the certification to prove it. I can't show it, but it's on parchment. Visit foodwishes.blogspot.com/2018/... for the ingredients, more information, and many, many more video recipes. I hope you enjoy what I consider the Ultimate Berry Crumble recipe!

As a bachelor what doesn't know much about baking and who's been hit pretty hard by the quarantine, didn't have much to work with, but managed to make a single serving of this by just eyeing the ingredients from the video, 4 mushed up raspberries and a spoon of seedless blackberry "jam"...

Made this today for Mother's day, won much kudos from the family and Mom! Sister said it was crumble-icious. Thank you Chef John!
TIP: If using frozen fruit-- wait for the berries to thaw, then drain as much as possible. I didn't do this and I drained about a cup of liquid the sugar made from the berries and also lost some of the lemon flavor. secondly, I didn't bother to grate frozen butter. Instead I used a pastry cutter and then refrigerated the butter/dry ingredients until after lunch and then assembled. It's all good.

works well with frozen. we don't get a whole lot of berries in canada during the winter so I use frozen you just need to account for the extra water

I disagree. Don’t thaw. That’s too messy. Mix sugar & cornstarch with berries just before putting in the pie. Frozen berries might be a little runnier than fresh. Just add a touch more corn starch.

well...Here goes...Ok Chef John...I admit, as hard as I tried to patiently reproduce your PERFECT "Potato Ball in a Potato Box," I fear I failed miserably as mine looked like a "Hockey Puck in a Teepee"....Even the Sweetest dog in the Universe (rescued Pit Bull) who eats ANYTHING, wouldn't even lick the puck.. *: )*
I'll be quite safe with this "Ultimate Berry Crumble" though since one doesn't need any special carving/whittling finesse to make with great success.....

Whenever my family gets together for a special occasion, I'm always in charge of the dessert. I made this today and brought it to the 4th of July potluck at my mom's house (and yes, she had vanilla ice cream to go with it). I forgot to add the cayenne into the berries before assembling, so I sprinkled it on the top crust, but even with that hiccup, it turned out wonderfully. It was like summer on a fork. Absolutely delicious. Will definitely make this many more times. Thanks. Chef John!
