One more thing, don't get bent out of shape about suspension! Most people think they need coilovers to get on track and it's a huge misconception. Stiffer suspension is going to make the car react quicker meaning you as the driver will have to react quicker. Think about saving a car when it starts to oversteer at the limit 🤔. A softer suspension will be more forgiving and docile at the limit. Stickier rubber means more body roll, hence why you want to increase spingrate and roll stiffness. This will aid keeping the contact patch of the tire on the ground as the suspension articulates over uneven surfaces and bumps. It will also help put power down on corner exit. It's a balancing act and we can go on all day about suspension setup and tire compounds. For your first track day it's not necessary and will probably benefit you more as a driver to work with something more docile when exploring grip limits. Be safe out there and have fun! Cheers, Quinn 🍻

Don't forget that legit track day events offer track insurance. An agreed upon value will allow you to receive a check in case you total your car. It may be $500 for a weekend or whatever but this goes for cars from $5k to $500k...price is usually the same. Your car insurance will not only not cover it, they'll probably drop you.

Thank you so much for making this video! I got a 93' NA6 Miata as my first car about a year and a half ago. Its mostly stock (Basic brake upgrades, rollbar, wheels/tires). I took it on track once and loved it. Now I'm going to buy my buddie's civic as a daily so i don't have to worry as much about making a mistake on track while trying to learn better car control and performance driving. My goal for 2021 is to get as much seat time as possible. (Also I really need some sort of bucket seat b/c I get absolutely thrown around in my stock seats.)

@@TheSlipAngle Had an idea, since you seemed to take over the search engine optimization for "slip angle", could you do a video on what the concept of slip angle of tires is, and how racers/drivers utilize it to drive a tire to it's absolute grip limit for speed/lap times?
There are some decent theory videos and iracing videos out there, but I feel like you'd do a better job (and kinda owe it to us with the channel name hah).
