  • Here's my little review and comparison of the iPad mini 2023 6th generation vs the iPad Pro 3rd generation 2018 I'm a graphic designer and an illustrator and wanted to share my opinion on how the mini pairs with the rest of my desk and work from home setup.

    wow i'm so glad i saw this video before considering the iPad mini. I just naturally assumed it would have colour history. It would just never cross my mind that it didn't???? I would have been so so disappointed omg. Needless to say I will not be buying this when I'm ready to purchase an iPad

    You have such a nice voice and you mention such valid points that I have seen rarely mentioned in other reviews! Also the one sentence summaries on top left corner of the screen is such a good idea! Your review really helped me make a decision! Thank you!

      Thank you!!! I'm happy to help! Like I said, I really wouldn't recommend the mini for your first iPad. The new base model iPads are killer (and the colors are so cute lol). If I were to lose the Pro and the Mini, I would just buy the normal iPad (it was the first one I ever had). It's not as uncomfortably large as the Pro and it's not as uncomfortably small as the Mini. It's still decently big, yet portable enough you can put it in a bag. It's totally powerful and comfy enough to make art on!
      I hope this helps! Best wishes on your illustration journey!!!!

    I’m an illustrator - I have an iPad Pro which is my main device but I also use my iPad mini 6 for drawing a lot as well. It’s a perfect companion device and would recommend it to anyone.

    Thanks! I have an 2018 iPad Pro, and love it too. Bummer about the lack of colour history on the mini. I just picked one up for urban sketching, and it sounds like it will work well for that though. Great tip about drawing on a smaller canvas so there’s a place to rest your hand!

    Thank you for this honest review. I was contemplating on what to buy between ipad pro 11 and the ipad mini for digital art. Now I'm sure what to buy.

    I also get annoyed with the no color history option. I NEED IT

    Thanks so much for an insightful review! I am still drawing on the original 2017 iPad Pro with 1st Apple Pencil. I'm waiting for the new iPad Pros to release this year to finally upgrade! But in the meantime I want to get an iPad Mini for on the go, workflow, sketching and reading ebooks. I am curious which case you have for the Mini, it's delightful!

      Thank you! It's the Speck Balance Folio. I'd drop the link but the comment would get flagged! Hope this helps!

    does the ipad mini have the procreate hover feature?

    Thanks for this awesome review! For the no colour history issue you pointed out, does procreate have a colour dropper tool to reference off colours on the page to get around the no colour history tool?

    • @emeraldanna
      @emeraldanna  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They do have a color dropper tool! Ngl it drives me crazy having to use it! I feel like I can never get the right color. It doesn't feel like a proper swap for the color history, just a band-aid.

    Hey, great video. What do you think about the iPad Air 5 for someone new to Procreate compared to the 11-inch iPad Pro? Awesome artwork, btw!

    • @emeraldanna
      @emeraldanna  27 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hey thank you! I think the normal iPad is a better deal than the Air.
      Procreate isn't a software that will ever utilize the M1 chip really. If you're looking to 3D model on it or use Procreate dreams then maybe but, anything over the standard iPad is a bit overkill for Procreate alone.
      Once my pro kicks the bucket I'll probably just get a standard iPad. I will have a drop in layers (Ram is the only thing that affects procreate and the air has 8GB while the iPad has 4GB) but, I don't make anything with 100+ layers so I'm not stressing!
      Hope this helped!

    Just a minor correction - this is "2021 6th Gen" (not 2023)

    great video well done, just one question, how many layers can you have open on procreate, photoshop and illustrator?
