Recently acquired the iPad mini 6 and couldn't be happier, especially transitioning from the iPad Pro 11". It perfectly meets my requirements as a dedicated media consumption device for watching videos and listening to music, distinct from my MacBook, which fulfills its own unique role as my productivity workhorse.
A15 going strong. I also got one this year even I know there probably mini 7 upcoming and I don’t think I’ll regret it I got rid of my Air 4 for it so a small upgrade technically but a nice form factor it’s great for social media, browsing and taking it with you. I wouldn’t have done that ever with my Air 4 just to big and heavy for a carry around device and comfortably using on a couch or something. Plus as you say most won’t use a mini like they need an M4 chip with pro work on it. It’s still perfect even running iOS 18 right now.
The compatibility to the Pencil 2 makes the difference, for users not needing drawings or pen notes, the mini 5 is still a very good option even in 2024
I had an iPad Pro 11 but the iPadOS limits it so much. So i sold and got the iPad Mini. Man, what a tablet. Small and light and I can do everything I did with my pro. It’s a tablet that wants to be a tablet not a computer.
Great video, I have had mine since they came out, and use it way more than any other device I own. so light, the screen is amazing, and the sound is fantastic!
The iPad Mini 6 is the best iPad ever! I sold my 2017 12.9 iPad Pro and got the Mini and I’m so glad I did. The 12.9 was too big. The mini is a pleasure to use and it’s the perfect size, IMHOP.
I was questioning myself to buy a iPad Mini 6 cause already have a iPad Air and using it all the time but can’t carry it on my small sling bag. You just convinced me to by one, thanks Rjey 🐬
I have the iPad mini 6, but I gave it to my son to watch and play games. It was the perfect size for him. I got the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 tablet to replace it, but after a week. I want my iPad mini back. Thr galaxy tab is great but too big and heavy, especially when playing games like Diablo immortal. I'm deciding to return it and just get another iPad mini for myself. I'm not wanting for the 7th gen. 😊
I agree with you, the iPad Mini is a great device. I had the iPad mini 4 for a few years. After it stopped getting updates for a couple years, I decided to go with the iPad Air in early 2022. I could get a much larger screen for $100 more by stepping up to the iPad Air. I didn't want the regular entry level iPad, and I felt that stepping up to the iPad Pro was overkill and unnecessary. I just figured that a larger screen would be easier on my much older eyes. I definitely do miss the much more portability advantage of the mini, but this works for me. I just wish Apple included the Pencil when you buy an iPad. Samsung includes the S-Pen with many of their tablets, including the new S9 FE. I realized a long time again that while purchasing many of Apple's devices is worth the investment, many of Apple's accessories are way overpriced and are a ripoff, especially when you can buy other brands that work just as well.
Thanks Rjey! How long can I expect apple to support the mini 6? I have a 10” iPad but I lay in bed, I am old and have a bad back, an read news for an hour or two, plus TH-cam. I got a mini 4 and the world changed! Reading on the 10” was too heavy, the iPhone 12 mini) too small. Bought the mini 4 6 months ago but 3 months ago they stopped software updates. Now I can’t use the apps. No prob, it has been supported long enough. The BIG QUESTION is should I get a mini 6? Will it be supported for a few more years. Or pay 500 dollars more for the mini 7 when it comes out.
Very informative video! I first had a iPad 6, then a 2018 12.9 iPad Pro 12.9", then 2021 iPad Pro 11". The 6 was kind of a poor experience, but a good entry to the iPad world. I've been wanting to go smaller and smaller since the 12.9". I decided to grab a mini next time it goes on sale either used/refurbished/new for $300. I'm so excited!
I traded in iPad Pro M2 BT for air 13” LTE. I love it. Thinking about getting a new iPad mini next week. Waiting on my ultra 2, arriving coming Monday.
I’ve had my iPad mini 6 for close to 6 months, I absolutely love it, it’s my idea of a portable versatile tablet that can do anything your phone can but with a bigger yet portable design. Pulling it out in public is not nearly as jarring as pulling out an 11 in iPad Pro
I have the exact same set up including the paperlike screen protector. The only thing I add is a metal plate to the back of the iPad so I can place it on magnetic holders.
Love the Mini line-up. Long term fan. Sold my 12.9 pro. And downsized to 11 pro. Still felt to much for my typical use. Social media, leisure, movie / music consumption, reading, note taking. Mini is perfect. Only wish screen was a bit brighter. I don’t care about ProMotion. But flipping from my iPhone 15 Pro, to Mini and back. I noticed the difference. But it’s acceptable. For the portability benefit 🐬 Wonder if / when / what the Mini 7 will bring. Great Channel!
I've ALWAYS been an android user, infact my phone will always continue to be an android, but as far as tablets go, this device impresses me. I had to buy an Ipda mini 6 for college and it is a very sleek build, and suprisingly light. It's about as light as my phone. Sure, the software sucks, but I can always appreciate good hardware. I love the type C, too.
I have an old iPad gen 6th that needed replacing as starting to get too slow and full. Our child broke my partner iPad so we needed a replacement for my partner and our child. I had purchased a iPad Mini for work and found it very practical fits in my back pocket. I was prepared to wait for the new iPad mini 7 expected at the end of 2024 as generally I update with the latest because of the length of time I hold onto a iPad 5-7 years. But in the end decided to buy the Mini iPad 6 for all three of us as we needed them now. We use them for consumption and it would be fine performance wise. I had considered the iPad 10th gen, nice colours but the lack of support for the 2nd gen Apple Pencil was the main reason to not go with them. The Wi-Fi changing and magnetic sticking meant it was more likely to be practical and used. The iPad mini goes well with our iPhone 13 mini, in the sense can carry both around on holidays and trips. It would have been nice to get the iPad Mini 7 but I suppose I could upgrade when it is released if compelling reasons to upgrade but likely just a chip jump that is all that will change. I actually like just one camera bump on a iPad it looks cleaner and generally I don’t take pics or videos with an iPad. Really weird how Apple hasn’t upgrade iPad for so long. Anyway my reasons for buying an iPad Mini 6 in 2024. It is still good to use.
Swapped my 12.9 iPad Pro after having it for a year last year for the Mini. Had no need for it since I have a MBA. Plus bringing the Pro to work everyday to read or watch tv during lunch was annoying. My first iPad back 12 years ago was a Mini and after going back I gotta say the iPad Mini is the perfect tablet for my needs. I’ll def upgrade to the 7 whenever Apple releases it.
Great job Sir! I've been torn between buying a new iPad Pro to replace my 3rd gen model or replacing my 8 year-old 13" MacBook Air with one of the newer 15" Airs, but after watching your video, I think I'll opt for the Mini with the 15" Air to give me more flexibility. Thanks again! 🐬
Great video! I have an iPad Pro 11” and M3 MacBook Pro, and I still feel compelled to buy this smaller unit. Also, I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max My MacBook is for major schoolwork on the go and some photo editing. My large iPad is for business meetings. It's less intrusive than my 14-inch laptop. My question to you is, do you think the iPad mini six would be a great addition to this ecosystem for tablets and gaming? I assume yes.
Hey! I would Like to Buy the mini Right now… my Budget is around 700€ so for the IPad mini 256GB… would sell my iPad Air 5 64GB for it altough it may has better specs (Processor)… Do u think Its a good idea (I really Like the small form factor.) And I dont want to wait for the New Minis because I think they will be was more expensive… what do u think?
I had an M1 iPad Pro 12,9", I sold it and got the iPad mini 6. It was the best decision for me, since I already have an M1 Pro 16" MacBook Pro. The big iPad Pro was just useless to me, since it was too big for "tablet usage". For me, the iPad mini is the perfect size tablet, everything bigger than that just feels uncomfortable to me..
Get the cellular version it’s a much better deal even with 64Go of storage . Hope the iPad mini 7 will keep the touchID and will get a brighter miniled screen (Oled does not age well )
i am in the "shall i wait for 7 or get the 6" category. i think if they 6 dropped in price a bit more i would get the 6 now. Currently a 64gb one on Apple store is £569 , although the cheapest new one i have seen outside Apple Store is £378. So maybe £378 is the lowest they will go ?
Just bought it today. I find the battery drains pretty fast. Not sure which apps or settings are the culprits. I've already turned off background app refresh, Bluetooth is off, and my brightness is less than 50%. What am I missing?
I've used the mini and the air 4 extensively. Air 4 is better for me. Free that thing from a case ( I use the Smart Folio from Apple which lets you detach the iPad stupid easy) and it is much better at everything except maybe reading regular books. The weight difference is negligible once you get rid of the case. Plus, the Air (and all the other normal sized iPads) make for much better sidecars than the Mini. YMMV.
Touch ID works great, except, that is, for old folks like me, whose fingerprints have faded to the point that they become unrecognizable to the sensor. That's why I much prefer Face ID.
Interesting. My experience with the Mini was not good at all. I returned the device. I'd be using it, and the battery would die off really quite quick. I could be on a web page, and I'd drop like 4 5% in no time, it was heating up at one point, and I was only really reading a tech review. I'd sold my M1 iPad pro due to not using an iPad as much as I should have at the time, thought I'd get something more portable and light, but ended up on an M1 iPad air after all that. I've now just upgraded to the M4 pro, I find it lighter, faster, and for me personally, as a media device, browsing websites, and writing things, it’s perfect. It also will have a massively long time on the software updates which really appeals to me. I've bought this iPad to last me a very very long time.
If they can give the iPad mini the M1 chip at the very least and fix the Jelly scroll issue, that’s enough reason to get one in my opinion.💜 Cos it meets all my requirements side the 120hz display.
I’ve been thinking the same and have decided to wait for the mini 7 as at this stage in time the 6 has already lost a couple of years of software support if you buy it now.
🐬enjoyed this. I have an air 5 th generation .. lookng at ino on new airs and do not seem much difference. I had a mini several years ago and enjoyed it.
4:52 Correction: it has 2 speakers, one on each side, and both speakers have 2 grills in case you are covering one of them with your hands in landscape mode, not just for “aesthetic purposes” (source: I have an iPad Mini 6)
@@RjeyTech That's not what I heard. I heard that the Mini 7 will have a longer battery life, will run cooler, and will have a better display. I'd consider these features more than just a "performance upgrade."
Having been with Apple ecosystem ever since, I was rooting to get the iPad Mini 6 last March hoping for new low prices as a newer model was slated to roll out. But Samsung devices price cuts and discounts were too tempting. I ended up getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ complete with pencil, keyboard cover and ear buds2 pro.
@@RjeyTech At same price level I’d choose the iPad Pro. But now, I’m on the hunt for smaller tablets like the new iPad Mini that, hopefully, will roll out this year.
I have the M1 iPad 11 inch Pro and a 10 Gen cellular lol People RAVE about the Mini 😩 I wish I had different sizes really bad Either a 13 inch or a mini haha
🐬 The thing Apple and also most people forget is that this tablet sice is really good for a lot of work environments. While the iPad Pro makes sense for specialized applications and professions. The iPad-Mini could be a game changer in stores, hospitals, warehouses etc. As a quick handheld solution to minimize paperwork. I was at a hospital lately where they used it for all necessary signings. After they stored everything in their server the doctors used it later for the operation to review the information quickly. I still think that a small tablet and perhaps your smartphone is all you need if your job requires a lot of traveling or walking from one place to another. Well some kind of better Palm-device 😂. The only thing that is missing is that apple should consider this thinking and spec them up too.
I definitely disagree on the mini being best for note taking. I have a pro 12.9 and frankly the way I take notes, it's perfect. It would be too annoying to constantly move around on it. Now if you're standing and taking notes, I would agree. But I don't ever do that in class.
@@RjeyTech apps take a long time to open. Some of my ebooks take quite a long time to load too compare to my iphone. Overall, it feels sluggish. Not a good buy in my book
@@khoifoto - If you are accustomed to using a tablet or phone with a faster refresh rate, then the iPad Mini will seem sluggish. For those of us who still use regular iPhones and not the Pro or Pro Max variants, we don't notice a difference, and to a larger extent, we don't care. But you gotta go with what works for you.
There’s no way you can convince me Touch ID is more continent than faceID ….if your hand is greasy its finicky plus I have to reach my finger up to the power button as supposed to just raising the iPad itself
Just bought one at the Source for 450$. Hard to beat at that price and G7 will be closer to 700$. I plan using it for social media, web browsing and TH-cam. A15 is fine for this.
iPad mini is great like all the other Apple devices but people are losing their sense of reality in terms of consumption… As a specie that needs to coexist with limited resources (in a limited resources planet 🧠) we are becoming ridiculous…
I want to know how they expect us to hold it with an edge to edge screen, the bezels are grip points. I know apple prefers form over function but come on.
My quick & dirty contribution on how I use and why I like my Mini - (used with MBA & iPhone Pro) AMAZINGLY this iPad still works very well with very few glitches - even after having dropped this device innumerable # of times while traveling without fail. Of course the battery is not up to scratch but as I use it mainly in my Van Conversion or Hot Hatch etc - there is always a USB plug nearby. Off course it is slow - but not excrutiatingly slow. I have recently two sided taped a metal ring (MagSafe magnet compatible without the charge) so when the Mini is in Sidecar mode it works on the multiple magsafe magnets I have in the van. I will definitely wait & buy the Mini 7 when it comes out real SOON!?! The Mini is simply a great portable high performance device that sits between an iPhone & MBA. It is complimentary and is an essential device (for me when traveling) doing the tasks described above. I would NOT even consider any other iPad. The large variety of productivity & entertainment uses for the Mini demonstrates how versatile it can be for so many people. Master of Nun - But Good at a lot of stuff - Fine by me!!! I use my Mini exclusively when I "TRAVEL" - to do the following: (otherwise it sits in a drawer). 55% - as a GPS unit mounted to a RAM mount in my vehicles.- the best GPS "EVER"! I downloaded the "Navigon" app (a Garmin app) and spent $60 for all North American Map Data. This App has not been updated for 5 years now - but still works just fine - some newest roads are not displayed but who gives a Flying F (the iPhone fills the gap). That's after over 200K miles of road trips. FYI - lots of pilots use the Mini for realtime in-flight information 40% - as a Sidecar or screen mirroring when viewing YT & movies - it is mounted to a MagSafe style magnet stand. 4% - as an eReader 1% - miscellaneous tasks. This usage distribution may change when I buy the 7 - a/w the pencil - time will tell... I will certainly wait & buy the new Mini 7 when it comes out real SOON!?! The Mini is simply a great portable high performance device that sits between an iPhone & MBA. It is complimentary and is an essential device (for me when traveling) doing the tasks described above. I would NOT even consider any other iPad.
wanted to buy it, but my experience with apple isnt good , its like they purposely make your phone unusable or need to repair had 2 apple phones before had same system problem exactly the month I bought them within 2 years. its like they make it unusable and the repair is almost 30% worth of a new phone so youll be forced to buy a new one.

Sir i am interested to buy ipad mini but i m confused about 6 gen actually i want 9 gen and ipad mini 6 can update ios 17?
I’m waiting for iPad Mini 7!! But I’m sooo ready…
Should I get the mini 6 or wait for the mini 7?
It depends how long you can wait for..the mini 7 will likely just be a performance upgrade
I’ve been thinking the same and have decided to wait for the mini 7 as at this stage in time the 6 has already lost a couple of years of software support if you buy it now.
doubt if the ipad mini speakers even approach the superb sound of the ipad pro 11
Thanks for sharing 🐬
Thanks for watching!
🐬enjoyed this. I have an air 5 th generation .. lookng at ino on new airs and do not seem much difference. I had a mini several years ago and enjoyed it.
Is it true that this iPad mini 6 has anti glare screen?
Can we use latest ipad as main or portable display for mac mini ?
Love my iPad mini 6, great video! 🐬
You are making want to buy this device!🐬
You should get it haha! 😂 🐬🐬🐬
Question! Does it use the apple pencil first or second gen?
@@T3CHGY007 second!
4:52 Correction: it has 2 speakers, one on each side, and both speakers have 2 grills in case you are covering one of them with your hands in landscape mode, not just for “aesthetic purposes” (source: I have an iPad Mini 6)
But yeah, the bottom ones are louder (while in landscape mode)
what are you saying? Buy the Mini 6 or wait for the Mini 7? My ipad pro screen just broke
I’d buy now, the mini 7 won’t be anything more than a performance upgrade
@@RjeyTech That's not what I heard. I heard that the Mini 7 will have a longer battery life, will run cooler, and will have a better display. I'd consider these features more than just a "performance upgrade."
Having been with Apple ecosystem ever since, I was rooting to get the iPad Mini 6 last March hoping for new low prices as a newer model was slated to roll out. But Samsung devices price cuts and discounts were too tempting. I ended up getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ complete with pencil, keyboard cover and ear buds2 pro.
I have the tab s9 ultra, you can argue it’s better than the iPad pro
@@RjeyTech At same price level I’d choose the iPad Pro. But now, I’m on the hunt for smaller tablets like the new iPad Mini that, hopefully, will roll out this year.
Getting this so me and my girlfriend can watch movies/shows while eating in my car 😊
I did not expect that accent 😊
Do any of these devices have a headphone jack?... pro audio person here..
Is the jelly scroll issue really as bad as what some people say?
It used to be an issue for but I got used to it, not that bad
@@RjeyTech rumours say that the display will be improved with the 7 although I am not expecting ProMotion on it.
🐬 love your review. !
Thanks so much!
I have the M1 iPad 11 inch Pro and a 10 Gen cellular lol
People RAVE about the Mini 😩
I wish I had different sizes really bad
Either a 13 inch or a mini haha
Great review.
🐬 mini 6 daily user love it
Nice! 👍🏽 🐬🐬🐬
How is it for reading with reading apps?
I agree! I love Touch ID better than Face ID! Felt like I was the only one who had this opinion. Feel like Face ID doesn’t recognize my face 😅
Tine for us to get a new face 😂
I definitely disagree on the mini being best for note taking. I have a pro 12.9 and frankly the way I take notes, it's perfect. It would be too annoying to constantly move around on it.
Now if you're standing and taking notes, I would agree. But I don't ever do that in class.
I'll hold back to get a new ipad mini. The Mini 6 feels too slow at this point. I've just returned it recently.
It’s not too slow, the display is a 60hz panel. We need a 120hz panel for it to feel fast
Great video! You have my sub and like! 🐬
Thank so much! 🐬🐬🐬
There’s no way you can convince me Touch ID is more continent than faceID ….if your hand is greasy its finicky plus I have to reach my finger up to the power button as supposed to just raising the iPad itself
Wallpaper name please
I would love it one these could take over CarPlay from my car’s crap display.
Just bought one at the Source for 450$. Hard to beat at that price and G7 will be closer to 700$. I plan using it for social media, web browsing and TH-cam. A15 is fine for this.
Im on that reddit sub also 🙌🏼 great stuff
1:44 macbooks? Let it go! Let it go! Let it go!
I wish apple would make their own printers!
iPad mini is great like all the other Apple devices but people are losing their sense of reality in terms of consumption… As a specie that needs to coexist with limited resources (in a limited resources planet 🧠) we are becoming ridiculous…
I love you.
My 6 is arriving today from Apple ,😊
Nice! I think you’ll love it
Great vid! Dolphin emoji!!!
Appreciate it! 🐬🐬🐬
I want to know how they expect us to hold it with an edge to edge screen, the bezels are grip points. I know apple prefers form over function but come on.
Hopefully the palm rejection is improved
jelly scroll and 60hz display is not acceptable for me especially when using my iPhone, MBP and iPad back and forth
My quick & dirty contribution on how I use and why I like my Mini - (used with MBA & iPhone Pro)
AMAZINGLY this iPad still works very well with very few glitches - even after having dropped this device innumerable # of times while traveling without fail.
FYI - lots of pilots use the Mini for realtime in-flight information
40% - as a Sidecar or screen mirroring when viewing YT & movies - it is mounted to a MagSafe style magnet stand.
4% - as an eReader
1% - miscellaneous tasks.

What about battery life
I have:
An IMac
A MacBook
AirPod Pros
AirPod Pro Max
Apple Watch
iPhone 12
iPhone 15
iPad 9
And the IPad Mini 6 is my favorite device!
LOL yep same here! Welcome to the club
