- Follow my year long process of setting up my home art studio from start to finish! When I say from the start I really mean it! I took this room from big grey cube mode to a really inviting and fun place to make art! I'm thinking of this as being phase 1 complete, and I'm going to continue to add cool things in phase 2!

I don't know why yt algorithm brought me here, but it was right - I love your energy and attitude. I have so many common details in the art studio. Cool DIY skill (and tools!) Keep up this nice content. Peace.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. I definitely plan to keep it up!
I had the same experience
Same thing with me
Good to know childhood doctor office experience is universal. 🤣
Haha, you're the first to confirm it! Thank you!
best vibes, thank u.
Thank you :)
incredibly satisfying
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that! :)
I love it! Really nice setup! Very cozy too!
Thanks so much! :)
Love the setup dude I like the feeling that it gives out of warmth and comfort.
Thank you! It really does, it's a nice place to be
Well done Sean. Rooting for you. Great comments
Thanks Maria! :)
Great job man! Love to see how people have their spaces set up and hey they got there.
Ah thanks a lot Tom! I hope you're doing well :)
What a superb transformation!
Thank you! :)
Great video, thoroughly enjoyed the process. Love what you did with the space and the way you went through your process.
Thanks so much, I'm really glad to hear you liked it! I've seen the video through so many times by now that I wasn't sure it was good anymore haha
Love your energy, Sean - subscribed, my man! :D
Thank you, I appreciate that! I've got more coming :)
Love the video love the art studio love our home and love you ❤️
Thank you Bumblybee!
Love the result 🤤
Thank you! :)
Such a well put together video. Loved seeing the whole process from start to finish! Cant wait to have my own space like this!!!
Thank you very much! I hope you get it soon
It's quite lovely. I can't wait to finally get my studio done.
Thank you! It's a great feeling when it finally comes together
Loved this, you did a great job!
Thank you! :)
Wow i've never been more inspired by a video, so many cool ideas...I really needed this 👌🏻
That's great to hear! I'm glad it helped :)
ur space is so nice and cozy
Thank you! :) It's a really fun place to work from
What an amazing space! Would love something like this. Awesome work
Thank you very much! :)
@@DrawBoySeanie no worries man, subbed to you here and on instagram too. Will check out more of your videos for sure
Amazing video! What a dream to set up a studio like this, enjoy your space!
Thank you very much! :) I seriously am enjoying it! In the video I really wanted to go into how much it meant to have a proper space but I think I cut most of it because it was getting too long. I had just been using that ikea cart crammed with as much art supplies as it could hold for a few years and I didn't have a dedicated place to do anything, which made doing things way harder! It feels like such a luxury
such a cool video good job on finishing the room!
Thank you Simone! :) I really appreciate that!
Well done studio 🎉 It’s cool to watch projects like this 🔥
Thank you! :)
Great video great room. We'll done
Thank you Betty! :)
so nice to have stumbled across this gem. Keep up the good work dude
Thanks so much! I surely will :)
Looks cool 🤩
Thank you!
love it !
Thank you! :)
The USB charge cord dots!!! The smartest thing I've ever seen. I immediately scrambled for a sharpie and dotted all of my chargers with their connections as you did. You've changed my life. Thank you!!!!
Haha, I'm happy I could help!
Beautiful! I love the DIY enthusiasm. I have recently moved into a new apartment with a studio room and seeing this made me realise just how much more i could be doing with the space. Glad I came across your channel.
Thanks so much! I've gotten into building things over the last 4 years and it's really satisfying to solve a problem by making something really specific to your needs. Good luck with your set up!
The sheer amount of time and updates you gave on this video over the year made me think it came out three times!
Anyway, love to have enough of a sense of permanence to just go nuts building a room for my many idiosyncrasies. You're an inspiration Seanie.
Hah yeah it took a WHILE to wrestle together!
I had to comment because I cannot believe you called those insanely beautiful shelves “just fine”!! What a beautiful and bright studio and an even warmer video 🧡🧡
Ah god, thank you very much, that's really kind. I think in that moment they just didn't quite live up to what I was expecting, but to be honest I don't really know what I was expecting. I really do love them and I think once I filled them they looked great :)
The hard drive struggle is real - I felt that one. Love your solution and might borrow that idea ;P - Thanks for sharing! Love how it turned out
Haha, thanks! You're the first to mention the struggle, hope it helps :)
I really like your videos and your art studio!
Thank you! That's really cool to hear!
Nice and productive place. Great success for you!
Thank you! :)
i love your temporary art wall and i didn't realize that it would be nice to look up and see cool art, too! 😂 i think i'll try it!
strongly relate to the "when i don't want to do it i just freeze" phenomenon, some ideas seem to need to brew in your head first before being implemented
Yeah that's it exactly, if I've got a problem in the back of my mind for long enough eventually I'll see it from a new angle!
awesome setup!
Thanks Dale!
Very nice! The goal of removing any obstacle between idea and execution is something that resonates with me as I'm trying to get my own studio a bit more up to snuff. I was like a minute into this when I was like wait, I think this fella is also Irish...
I am Irish! And yeah I've been doing a bit of woodworking the last few years and the idea of removing obstacles really applies there too. If a tool is tucked in a drawer I'm not going to bother moving stuff to get it out, I'll just find a more awkward way without it
As someone who's just finished my own studio space, I very much enjoyed this. Good space wranglin'! Earned a sub. 🙂🙌
Thank you! I appreciate it :)
ahhhh! very nice office :3
Thank you very much! :)
This is a very relatable video :) I've been setting up my first home office over the last year. So fun.
Thank you Alex! I really appreciate that, I've been such a fan of your work since I saw Late Night Work Club in college, and even though I've been animating for years now your classes have even thought me some new stuff, they're really enjoyable! :)
@@DrawBoySeanie hey thanks Seán! Haha LNWC is a deep cut. Im glad you like the classes. They've kinda taken over my short film ambitions lately.
Great 👍 studio mate.
Thank you! :)
Great video dude, definitely got some inspiration for my studio 🤙
Thank you! That's cool to hear :)
Just saw your video on my feed and it is very inspiring looking to do the same thing as well
Thank you! :)
Such a nicely edited video :) And your studio looks awesome!
Thank you! I really appreciate it :) Your work is super nice!
I like how you went the extra mile and painted the shelves railing. Most people would have probably just had left it white
Thanks! I know I showed that some of them had run but on the wall I've never actually noticed, I'm really pleased with how the shelves turned out :)
yoooo the algorithm got me here and i'm hyped! another Sean TH-cam artist!! let's go!!! i'm a fan of the setup and cannot wait to see what is in store!you got a sub here!
Thanks so much man! I really appreciate it :)
@@DrawBoySeanie welcome man and of course!
great setup :)
Thank you :)
Well done! Both the studio AND the video. I need a studio so I took a screen shot at 21:46 to remind me of what the goal is. I have the same thing where I freeze when I don't know what to do, so it's great to see someone else can live with it and eventually move forward. Love the light fixture! I still see those abacus-type toys in the thrift stores sometimes. I would hope they are still manufacturing them. I appreciate that you had a clear vision for your layout...I need to work on that. This is my first time visiting your channel...I'm going to subscribe! Long may you live and prosper!
Thanks for the nice comment! :) Yeah I think with the freezing thing, I'm kind of realising that sometimes you just need to make a choice, doesn't matter if it's the exact correct one you just need to get moving haha :)
Goodness you are like a young Mr. Rogers!!!
Haha, I need to somehow get some puppets involved
So clean organized and NEAT!!!! So jealous. Mine is a disaster.
Haha, thanks! I do generally try to keep it tidy but it gets pretty messy when I'm working on stuff. It's quick to clean up when everything has a spot though
I know the pain of a cintiq hogging desk space. But I got an ergotron monitor arm it the exact same one that wacom sells but with a different name on it. It was a great purchase.
Oooh yeah I did have one of those probably 10 years ago and I loved it, it was really solid, and then one day it started to sag and wouldn't stay in position and I couldn't get in touch with the company. It was a third party one aswell and that put me off getting another. I think I'm so used to not having it now I'm not sure if I'd like one again
Damn cool
Thank you! :)
Incredible! Love the studio! I have my copy of Williams' Animators Survival Kit right in front of me right now! Absolutely stellar book! On taking vitamins/meds, I can only speak for Apple, but the app Round (yeah, I know, great SEO there) is the only reason I'm functional some days. Pings me reminders to take my meds.
I've tried setting alarms in the past and I just get annoyed that my phone is distracting me from what I'm doing haha. I've tried putting them in my way so I'd see them when I sat at my desk but I just moved them! I need some Wallace and Gromit style machine that fires one into my gob in the morning
yooo i have the same capo and tele!!!! Beatiful studio man
My absolute favourite guitar! Feels great to play and sounds even better! Thank you :)
@@DrawBoySeanie right! You can hear that rock vibe with this jazz smoothness
I dream of my own studio, it looks cool
Thank you! I hope you get it :)
you are going to make someone very happy one day
I make people happy every day :) And also I've been with my girlfriend for 6 and a half years haha
@@DrawBoySeanie it's time my dude
Would you consider doing a video on your art books?
I guess I could! Like which ones are my favourites or the most useful, that kind of thing?
cool
Thank you Ryan
Paint the Vitamin shelf so it pops off of the white everything, and rearrange it to be dead center, you'll take those things every day.
I've tried so many things and it hasn't helped, I've a feeling I wouldn't notice the colour after a while haha
🔥🔥🔥 🇲🇽
Love the setup - such a cozy vibe, inspire me to build my own studio!! Can I ask what stand is that for your Wacom? I've been trying to find something like that where the wacom floats off the table just a little bit
My old one was a 22HD and I had the wacom stand for that, but in the video I replaced it with the 22 inch 2019 model which has a stand built in, but it doesn't sit off the table like the old one did
A word of advice you should have invested in one of those adjustable tables that is a godsend every artist needs to have this no question about it! You'll thank me later!
I've never really seen the appeal to be honest! Do you have one?
"@DrawBoySeanie, yes, I do. I have about six adjustable tables - one electric and the others manual - and I've never looked back. I even bought height-adjustable chairs for them, about three. I can work standing up or sitting and adjust the tables to my height. It's the next best thing when it comes to tables, and you can still adjust it to the normal size you're already accustomed to, so you lose nothing but gain here. Each of my tables serves specific needs as I delve deeper into my art-related endeavors.
For example, one table is dedicated to arts and crafts, another for general purposes, another for the kitchen as both a table and countertop, one for my digital and computer art, and drawing on tablets and drawing a tablet PC purposes (using also adjustable stands for monitors as and when I start working on some animation stuff), and another for creating comics - it's an adjustable drafting table for artists. Additionally, I have one for stop-motion animation and other smaller projects that require their own dedicated space, ensuring it can't be bumped into or moved around. As I begin building my own multipurpose art studio. And that's just the gist of it.
So, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to see the appeal to it since you can still do what you could do with a regular desk. You're going to have empty space as well for the purpose of adding things underneath the table like a filing cabinet or other little storages that you can put underneath it. You could adjust the table too so you could kind of put a little bit more stuff than you normally would on an actual lower end table like the one you have, which are the standard ones supposedly.
you can convert this into a standard table, that's what I'm telling you. At least invest in one and see for yourself. My advice is that you can choose between the manual ones or an electronic one. The electronic ones are a bit heavier because they have to carry a motor with them, but it's almost virtually hands-free with a push of a button. You can lift or lower it. It's got memory buttons on it too, so that it will remember the height of your preferred state. Which means if you have like three memory buttons, you'll be able to have it for different occasions. So, if one time you just want to draw normally, you can have it at a standard height; push the one button. If you want to draw standing up, you push the two button. If you want to draw just sitting down but at that height, push the three button. It's all saved in its memory so you can adjust it exactly where you left it or whenever you need it. They are also probably a little bit more work when it comes to assembling it"
or
You can try the manual ones which are easier to assemble and you could probably do it in under an hour to 30 minutes at least your first time around once you get the hang of it then it's not that bad to assemble. This would be great for holding heavier things like all your computers and tablets and whatnot so this will be a great surface to work on I have like a 55 inch computer main adjustable desk that carries about everything all my three monitors and My PC along with everything else I've been put in the table and it has been holding up. But I got a quality one just make sure you got a good one for a good price! Maybe wait for the holidays Christmas holidays you might get a discount Unless you're desperate and you really want to try one and replace the one you have.
So I guess my advice to you is that it depends what you would need it for exactly. So if you need it for just typically no more drawing then I guess you could just go with a manual one and just use the crank it's not going to kill you it wouldn't even hurt I mean it's not like you're going to be cracking it up and down every time you just going to put it it won't position send it there and that's it so if you want to draw something while you're standing up or paint then this will work just perfectly or you can just get yourself an adjustable drafting table of which they're not that many of them. But if you have like a multi-purpose art studio then this will come in handy this would also be useful for many other things.
You can also try and look at some videos of artists using and adjustable table and they can tell you their experience about it here on TH-cam!
Love the vibe. May I know what’s the brand of the pop orange colour cabinet?
Thank you! I got it from Vida XL
Get a snake plant they are really good for purifying the air and they are impossible to kill and rarely need water 👍 great space
Oooh I like the look of those, and not being able to kill them is definitely a plus, thanks!
nice video. :)
Thank you! :)
and now I'm gonna rob your bulldog clip idea for the straightener/hairdryer wire at the side of my locker. thank you.
I did it for the lamp in our bedroom too! :)
❤
Where is your light fixture from? Soooo nice
I got it from lights(dot)ie, it's called the Tarnow ceiling light
What brand is that green cardigan? I'm obsessed!
I got it on Asos!
What brand is that green cardigan, I'm obsessed!
Also great work with the space. Looks like an awesome retreat. Loved all the steel surfaces, they really _are_ great for magnets!
Oh sorry I thought I replied already! I got it from ASOS :)
I have to ask! Who made those wonderful Lino Print (?) musicians? I'd love prints like that!
My wonderful friend Suzanne! @ suz_will on Instagram
@@DrawBoySeanie thank you so much! Great video btw!
@@jacklflynn1 Thank you! :)
what are those 7-teen small black which looks like sketchbooks ... can you make video on that
Those are Moleskine sketchbooks! They're full of doodles and ideas going back 8 or 9 years! I'll make a video showing them off later this year I think :)
Where'd you get that standing cabinet? its so nice
Hey! The yellow one is from Sklum, and the orange taller one is from VidaXL who I had a grand experience with but the reviews of their customer service are pretty bad, which I only realised after I'd ordered it. I think if you've no problem you might be fine but it could be tough to contact them if you've an issue, not sure I could recommend them 100%.
❄💙.
Got jumpscared by myself!!!
Haha, oops!
how does the washi tape hold up, does it keep the art on the walls or peel off constantly?
I have one roll that I learned doesn't work, but the other 2 I have are grand, they've all been up a few months now
Hi. do u use cintiq21ux with and macbookpro? because I used them two and I just can't make them work together! wacom driver wont work on the recent macOS and resolutions are SO LOW. if u solved that problem please let me know!
Hey I use the 22inch 2019 model I'm afraid, could you try going back down an OS?
yeah. latest OS they can support is OS Catrina and I bought two different display genders on amazon and they couldn't match the right resolution :( thanks for the fast replay anyway. love your setups.@@DrawBoySeanie
Would love to know where you got the light from?
It's from Lights (dot) ie
20:10 Haha, I have exactly the same generation Toy Story toys, Buzz and Zurg are my brother's and Woody, Mr Potato Head and Ham are mine.
Sorry for my bad English
Your English is perfect! I wish I'd gotten Jessie and Bullseye in the same scale but I didn't!
when you have panel walls // when you have concrete walls *mr incredible meme
Well, that is a life tip, do not give away your toys when you start to feel old, for the day when you actually become an adult they will be collectables :-)
Haha, never a truer word spoken. Another lesson I've taken from this is when I have kids and they're getting rid of their toys, I'm putting it all in storage and they'll appreciate it 15 years later
Seanie every 3 seconds "so i have ADHD"
What does this meeeaaan
What is this shelving system called?
It's called twin slot shelving
wacom > other brands definitely
I sure wish they were cheaper though!
@@DrawBoySeanie absolutely
