Hey Scotty Kilmer, my grandpa parks his car in the driveway. It’s inclined a bit and I’ve been telling him to put the parking brake on. He doesn’t believe me that it would do any harm to the transmission. What would happen to the life of the automatic transmission if he keeps doing this over time? And on average how much does it cost to fix a transmission?

The young man has put a lot of thought into his ride, and unlike some of us whose hobbies are indoors, he gets to share his with the world. Good on you, sir! Financially, it doesn't make a lot sense to own and repair a used BMW, but what financial sense does it make to play golf or go fishing? Hobbies are hobbies. Kudos to Mr. Kilmer for featuring this video!

Do you know anything about cost of ownership associated with the n52 motor and the e90 platform? It would appear not. Plenty of examples out there with 200+k. This motor, especially the run after his model pre-lci, is a gem.

Thank you for giving me a chance to showcase my car Scotty. I'm looking forward to some more of your DIY car repair videos because she's 11 years old now. I always laugh when you make that grunt to emphasize that you've tightened a bolt 😂. More detailed video: @
the custom rgb lighting wasn't shown, the subwoofer wasn't shown (and underseat woofers), the door BMW logo ground projectors weren't shown, the RGB light up stripe wasn't shown (scotty cut the video).
To answer some questions I saw in the comments:
    - the head unit is by Avin: PX5804GB32-E90
    - the exhaust cutout is by EvilEnergy: 2325H
    Some further details:
    - I plan to redo the interior carbon fiber wrap when I replace a broken side panel trim piece
    - This car pulls sound from head unit to feed to an amp that powers a JL subwoofer in the trunk in a ported enclosure. The existing tweeters have been modified with capacitors to increase clarity.
    - There are also 2 Pioneer 10" subwoofers installed under each seat
    - the amp is by rocksford fosgate
    - The kidney grille tri-color logo was an experiment I created with neon light tubes inside plastic clips that resemble the color of the bmw M logo, it is meant to be controlled by a remote relay, but since the plastic is brittle, and the clips are visible from the sides of the grille, I will probably remove it.
    - The m performance sticker on the dash is actually positioned improperly and doesn't look great and I pealed it off.
    - The keyfob allows you to roll down all the windows, but you must physically insert the key into the door and turn it to close all the windows and the sun roof.
    - the backup camera is concealed in one of the rear licence plate illuminating LEDs and previously failed. I used some waterproofing to help ensure that it wouldn't happen again.

328i,325i and 330i are the more reliable E90 3 series to own. The 335i and 335is are always prone for more frequent maintenance because they come with turbos, plastic water pumps and had recalls for their oil pump. I know someone with a 2008 335i and he replaces the water pump and some other parts every 20k miles.
But they’re not bad cars if you aren’t lazy to research in TH-cam and Bimmerforums, shop at Pelican Parts or ECS tuning, have some kind of passion in ghe brand and do most of the maintenance on your own, plus an access to a garage with the necessary tools.
I think the best BMWs to own are the non-turbo ones and ones with less electronic options added into it such as electronically adjustable suspension.

I can attest to this, my e90 has been a pleasure to own for the last four years, and I purchased it for about 10k. Just made sure to cherry pick one that was cared for. The inline 6 is a real gem, sure beats every Japanese 4 cylinder I’ve owned (5).

Nice Bimmer! BMW has always been my dream car since I drove a 2002 520i 5 speed in Germany. That car with a small 2.2 liter 6 cylinder would cruise effortlessly at 130 mph (210 kph) on the autobahn while giving the impression of only going 70 mph. The brakes and handling were the best I've ever experienced, simply awesome. I then knew why they called it the Ultimate Driving Machine. But over the years my opinion of BMW has changed. It seems they're now more interested in electrical gadgets and with Scotty saying they're money pits. But if I lived in Germany where repairs wouldn't be so expensive I'd love to give one a try.

I found your videos while searching how to repair videos for BMWs. I recently bought a 2009 BMW 528xi. I wish I had found your videos before I got it. I paid too much for the car at a Ford used car lot, then there was an intermittent trans slip that throws the car into limp mode. I’ve owned the car for 2 months and I’ve spent around 3k in repairs already. This is one time where I should have paid for a warranty! Nothing I did would fix the trans, and the mechanic suggested we change the transmission. BUT, on my way home I drove the van in manual mode, and nothing slipped! I’ve driven it this way for the last few days and no problems. I am still thinking about selling the car and eating the loss.😒

This guy is smart. He didn’t have to create a video, he does this so people send him videos and he gets paid for it. 👌🏼👌🏼 very nice

Most cars have a rev limiter in the parking gear at around 2-3k RPM.

Sweet ride, nothing like having a stunning looking BMW and learning how to take care of it your self. Brings back old memories of my old 318i. BMW's just have a timeless beauty about them that just fills you will pride, not like some old ugly Toyota.

Scotty......I am 72 and the best car I ever owned was a used 1997 BMW Z3. I bought it in 2000 with 18K miles and sold it in 2012 with 232K miles. It got between 30-36 mph. It was never garaged and sat outside all year round including Pennsylvania winters. I was very meticulous with maintenance and washed and waxed it every week if the temperature was over 45 degrees. In the 12 years of ownership I replaced the brakes once, the top twice, the headlight assemblies once and replaced the clutch at 198K miles. The only reason I sold the Z was that I moved to Ecuador. I don't know what more one could ask from a vehicle.....Ed

i like his visual mods, they honestly look great, but if i were getting a e90 3 series I would have to get the 335i, because the 328 is extremely slow, like 4 cylinder slow. I drove a friends and I honestly thought it was going to be alot quicker than what it was. but once again, great visual mods, theyre all tasteful

Normally I'm not a fan of mods. But, here there are a few interesting things. Especially when dealing with interior wear and tear and tilting of the mirrors to see the rim to curb distance. I just had the rims on my car re-finished...Wasn't cheap...That mirror feature could've saved me hundreds...

I'll be sticking with my 1989 E34 with a 5spd. It has 289k miles on the original motor and transmission. I doubt these newer BMWs will ever see that. The dam thing even passed California emission standards lol.

Every time I take my E34 540i to my BMW mechanic (which is rarely, since I do oil services myself) he always has some bangle butt plasticky 2000s era E60 E66 or E90 sitting there he's bitching about what a POS it is and how much stuff breaks and how crazy expensive it is to fix, or is designed stupid.
