This is the third time I've seen scotty work on BMW coils. It's also the third time I've seen Scotty not remove the cabin air filter assembly. They have only 6 bolts and the rest are clips. Honestly, replacing spark plugs on a BMW I6 engine is one of the easiest spark plug jobs I've ever done. Removing the cabin air filter assembly takes all of five minutes and gives you access to the entire top engine. You may need the spark plug socket as a standard slim deep 14mm socket does not work in some of the engines. For instance, on a 2007 Infinity G35 engine, you have to remove the intake plenum and all connected prerequsites.

@Joe Joseph Bmw new 4 cylinder engines are the ones with problems the 6 cylinder ones are better. Of course a 90hp toyota that has the same amount of work room than a 240 volvo in the bay and doesn´t even have electric windows is simplier to repair but then you can just compare it to the bmw m10 engine thats just way better than anyother, it is sad that these days the engines are made the way that you have to take them to us mechanics just to get them fixed eventho the fix should be easy but they just make em hard. These days the mechanics are also useless if you cant plug the car into a computer too...

If my car starts running funny and throws me a check engine light, I'd use my own scan tool and do exactly what he did. A cheap scan tool should be able to read the misfire code. You don't need some crazy expensive dealer level one for this. And BMWs are not actually that hard to work on. You have to waste time getting all the plastic crap off, and you may need a few special tools. But that doesn't make it hard. Just a bit more time consuming and expensive. @@toxy3580 Reasonably, as mentioned. Having airbags, belts and crumple zones. Thus far safer than the stuff from the 60´s and prior.
Many safety improvements have been made during the last decades, there´s no argument there. But do keep in mind there are no textbook accidents.
My previous car was a 1986 Mercury, so without the airbag.
Not sure if it would have helped in my most recent accident, since a giant tree fell onto my car whilst doing 35 mph. Right on the parafan, smashing the steering column down into my lap instantly, before any airbag could even deploy.
(It skipped the crumple zone, there was zero time.)
I only drive about 1000 miles a year, and cycle twice as much without any protection at all.. I can have the safest car in the world sitting on my driveway and still get squashed :)
The old Mercury was totalled, not a body panel straight besides the tailgate.
The car was stopped on a dime, pushed into the road surface. The transmission was shattered into pieces, frame as bent as a banana.
G-forces? The glass from the tailgate exploded and despite the fragments being tiny, the headliner was full of scratches back to front: I had to wash my hair twice coming back from the hospital, to get all the glass out.
There were 2 flimsy keys on my key ring. The ignition key with ring was still in the column, undamaged. But the entry key was in the footwell.. How did that happen?
Glass and fragments from the tree were everywhere. In places you wouldn´t believe. Some chunks of bark were even embedded in the carpet! As if they fused!
Still, I walked away with minor injuries. (They cut me out, actually.)
But with a modern transverse drivetrain, the engine & tranny wouldn´t be able to protect my legs.
I know it was a freak accident, but all in all I can´t complain about the safety of my old BOF cruiser.
Interesting to know is that police cruisers are tested to withstand a 75 mph rear end collision when parked on the shoulder, allowing the officer to get out in one piece. (The perp is toast, though.)
The modern Taurus is capable of that, but the old Crown Vic dating back to 1979 holds up to 80 mph...
90´s cars are quite safe, but you have to pick the right one.

lol - Scotty, the tray at the back of the engine bay that covers the back 3 cylinders comes out by removing 4 bolts. Take that out and the engine is dead easy to work on - it's just a splash tray to stop water getting in to the ventilation system when it rains. Remove the engine cover and you're good to go.
Don't know what was difficult about this fix - scanner indicated a miss-fire on number 6, replaced the number 6 coil (which after 12 years is the first thing you'd check) and then problem was solved. With the tray removed its a quick and easy job.
