I finally figured out how to disable my 560IV on-camera flash to use only as tx: the MODE and Group must BOTH be set to "--" I had previously only had mode set to "--", thus it was still firing. Just did a set of low key portraits of my father-in-law and they came out great! I love having two flashes and not needing to buy a trigger. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these flashes!!! Thank you for your review! It's great to have an expert that is willing to help those of us just getting into flash. Ty again! :)
Been using Mk 3 flashed for a year now. On location and at weddings. I have had no problems at all. I am now using with the YN560-TX to remote power it and it works a treat. I have just had two Mk 4's arrive and first impressions are very good. The initial pairing is confusing but you soon realise that you just hVe to hold down Zoom & Fn at the same time on the TX and then press okay on the flash. Done. Easy. I highly recommend these for manual off camera flash. Lighting a reception room has never been easier.
Thanks for the review. I currently own 2 Mark III's and one Mark II. I have been considering the Mark IV after watching the your review will order one sooner rather than later. Thanks again
I have the mark IIIs, love them. Manual flashes, there's no ttl, but they have a built in radio receiver and now with the new YN560-tx flash controller you can control the power from camera. If you use these flashes make sure to get that transmitter the YN560-tx - its really good. I still use my sb900 quite a bit just for the different flash patterns and the occasional ttl but generally use them manual anyway.
Hi Eric, Great video by the way, I noticed that you said the 560 was a little slow to start up...2 seconds. Well if you go into functions by pressing the light and mode button simultaneously (also marked FN) and scroll through until you come to 9u ic (quick) and turn it to on using the left and right buttons then press ok (center button). This will power up and shut down the speedlite almost instantaneously.
Are you thinking about getting more mkiv Eric? I personally would go with 1 mkiv and the rest being mkiii. For anyone else looking at getting these go for it. I currently own a YN565EX mkii, a YN560mkiii, 2x RF603c ii triggers and a YN50mm 1.8 in the post. Can't wait to unbox it. May be moving to Fuji soon and I'll definitely be investing in a couple 1 or 2 more mkiii, a mkiv and maybe a 560-tx!
Regarding the 2 second delay when switching on is it like the other yongnuo's where you have to hold down the on/off button for 2 seconds when switching on or off? If yes then there is a menu setting to turn that "feature" on/off to make it instant. Basically they do that so it doesn't accidentally turn on when in your camera bag
***** in my YN-568EX manual which may be the same as the YN-560 is Setting Fn NO. E2 QUIC = Quick Turn On/Shut Down Function Enable/Disable. Give it a try!
Eric, I have the YN 560 IV speedlite and the YN-622N-TX. Does the 622 communicate with the 560 IV or do I need the YN-622N i-TTL Wireless Flash Transceiver to make it work?
Thank you for the review... But I read a lot of bad reviews and now I'm scared if I made a bad decision in buying them... The reason I'm watching your video is because I bought one and now awaiting the package... I'm an amateur and know nothing about external flashes... I hope mine is a good one as yours!!!
+88kenaz Hello my friend.. Thanks a lot for your reply and NO I haven't had any problems and have been trying out all the settings and it seems to be working absolutely fine.. Thanks again and request you to do a Tutorial about these in detail it would be great.. Sadly The others here don't do it in depth...
Thank U very much Eric, i just bought this flash, its arriving next wednesday next to my new Lumix Fz200 , i will pair them. so ill tell how it goes that. greetings from Chile, by the way this will be my first flash ever and my first "non Pocket " Camera.
Just bought my third one. Have been loving these flashes! Got some great images of people vaping...really cool pics!! Building up a stockpile for RE photography. Now to buy more batteries!! lol. Never ends, huh? :)
I'm thinking to build a simple off camera flash setup. The YN seems to be everyone's choice. I wanted to get the YN560TX trigger to control off camera flash. Is it worth getting a IV over III if I'm going to be using TX trigger anyway? Although I'm not sure if there's a big price difference between the two versions. Thanks!
Cool! I'll try to find some info on mark 5. I'm pretty happy with the cost anyway, can get a nice flash and that cool trigger for around 100$, incredible value. Would you care to advise a good value softbox? I've looked around B&H and Adorama, a lot of choice, and they don't really specify which ones can be used with normal flashes like the YN560 (few can judging by pictures, but those models were going for over 180$).
big fan of your demonstrations (Y) well i am pure beginner and going to purchase my 1st flash so correct me you mean YN 560 iv flash will communicate with my Nikon D5500 or Canon 750D wirelessly ? i mean to say that mounting on tripod or somewhere else and then hitting the shutter button on camera will this flash work without any trigger device ? if yes o.O then tell me the settings for that ... waiting for your reply ... (: Thanks :)
thank you! Well no the flash wont automatically be wireless with the camera. You need the wireless flash trigger, check out the yongnuo rf 603. I have reviews on those, but for the camera and flash to be wireless, you need the triggers. hope this helps
ON THE YONGNUO 560 IV - HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE DIAGRAM BESIDE THE CHANNEL AND GROUP (LOOKS LIKE DIP SWITCHES ON BOTTOM LEFT) SO THAT 1 IS ON AND OTHERS ARE OFF?
Can the flash be fired by itself without a 602 trigger? I have a 568 EXII and want to purchase a 560 IV. What do you suggest for both on camera and off camera flash set up in my situation? Thanks brother
For sure the triggers wirelessly talk to the flash so that works, I have to check on if it can do line of sight slave mode though. not sure that it does
Great Vid Eric, How have you been ? I been out of game for a bit , broke my back in several places. I have purchased Yongnuo and I also have my SB-910's , you get just about if not even amount of power out of them. That is the Question, Is it worth it or not to purchase the manufacture flash or not ..... hhmmm ?! Things to think about. Take care and be safe
Kevin Atwell Thanks Kevin, been well myself. Sorry to hear about your back, I've been there with my shoulder man. Well my "main" flash will be my sb800. I always have said buy a direct manufactured flash first, aka Nikon/Canon, use the TTL, learn manual. If you dont/and should need TTL move onto the other more affordable brands.
+Bob Coletta not sure about the pixel king system, but this should work with most sony cameras. For the smaller mirrorless line it does, not fully sure about the dslr like a77. You can try it and if it doesnt work, send it back
Hi Sir Eric, I bought this YN-560 Mark IV a month ago and I’m planning to buy a flash trigger, I don’t know which one is better? Yongnuo YN622n or Yongnuo RF-603. And I want for future also for multiple flash firing.
Thank you Sir. Eric, i bought the rf603 and its working perfect... and Sir Eric, i need an advice again.. because im using the D7200 and a prime 50mm.. and im planning to buy a new lens.. what do you think is better? Sigma 18-35mm or Tamron 10-24mm, and if you have any suggestion? Thank you
Hi, I'm actually thinking to buy 2 Yongnuo flashes with their receivers to use apart of the hot shoe to photograph Products(more exactly watches) - Could you suggest me whether it is a great idea and whether i'll have any issue running it with my D5300 Thanks, appreciate your help
One thing I did not know when I bought them is that the "zoom" setting on the flash is supposed to correspond to the focal length of the lens being used....now I know.lol.
***** I have a review on thursday coming out of the mark III version also.. LOL Such luck on my timing.. But hey keep a TTL flash for run and gun shooting. I just purchased my very first external flash, the Yongnuo YN560 IV.! I'm a newbie to flash photography. My question is: Do I need to get anything else along with the external flash to get it working wireless? If so, please provide a recommendation. Thanks
Carmelita Tainatongo You would need some sort of transmitter for ease of consistent use. Look into the Yongnuo rf 603 version two flash triggers for Nikon or Canon.
Carmelita Tainatongo Eric, I just bought the wireless flash trigger RF 603N II. However, when I set up the external flash, the flash only goes of one time. The green light(attached to the external flash) will turn red and stays red, even while the light on the trigger(attached to the hot shoe)is green. Am I doing something wrong?
Do you happen to know if I have 5 of these that I can set them up as follows: Camera set for 20 second exposure for dark night sky shooting where I want to also capture the lights spaced away from me to light up areas while my long exposure is in progress: Flash 1: mounted on my camera set to transmit and have the flash off so it does not emit any light, it just signals the others to fire when I fire my camera. Flash 2: set up 10 feet away on receive mode that will have a 15 second delay and then fire. Flash 3: set up 20 feet away with a 16 second delay Flashes 4 & 5: Set up 30 feet away and both fire after 17 second delay.
hi mr. Eric.. i own a D7100 Nikon, do I need to change the settings from my camera for this flash, specially when i mount it on? please enlighten me, it must work side by side with my camera specially when im in AP mode right?
should i buy with tag 'for nikon' or its universal for all camera? and can i replace the 603 trigger with yne-rx ? i used nikon d7200. many thanks on it.
I hv bought this flash and revd it today,.. Appears to be well built adn doesnt look like a chinese product,.. I am a bit perplexed with so many menu :( ,.. Hv u done any tutorial for this flash
i used yongnuo flash yesterday in my wedding job and this was make a great strobishwork. but i encountered flash cooling down between a shot was a problem in the job. does it happen in nikon flash or this 560 mark iv too? anyone pls help. thanks.
Hi Eric, I used 1/4 and 1/2. I've read more and figure out that there is about 3sec cooldown time at 1/1. i dont know how much in nikon / canon flashes, but i think about the same. Thankyou Eric! Great video btw! :)
Palmstar125 the 600EX-RT is supposed to have a guide number of 60, the YN560 series has a guide number of 58. You likely will not notice the difference between them unless you use a light meter.
John Santosa I'd be interested to see the power test compared to that. From what i read up on, its a little under the power of the 900/910. But yeah you can get 3/4 of these and still be under one 900.
I just got 3 of these based upon reviews and I like them a LOT! Made detailed demo of them, demonstrating the features (Manual/Master/Slave/Optical-Slave/Advanced Settings, etc). Everyone is welcome to check it out on my channel and see if it fits your needs. On my opinion, these flashes are fantastic for the price!
One little negative noted on the Mk 4; don't bite your nails. If you do, like me, you will find it impossible to pull out the built in white card. A little annoying...
***** I would agree with your review from what you show though, highly recommend the Yongnuo to someone looking for an economical way into flash photography. I have to get my hands on a couple as my current flash is a crappy old flash with no power control.
Thank you for this review. Gotta say... so jealous of your eyes!!! Must be so cool to have two different color eyes. If its an insecurity of yours... it shouldn't be. It's super sexy!
If you liked what the flash can do and its price point, check it out here: bhpho.to/2DGHPsF

I've also been playing with the Neweer TT850, the big Li-Ion battery pack, as well as the triggering system is pretty cool. And pretty affordable.
I'm looking to buy 4 of these that's why I'm watching up on reviews. I love my other Yongnuo triggers.
I've been using Yongnuo flashes for several years now and have taken thousands of pictures with them. If you have any doubts...don't! Buy them!
its almost a must buy lol

1994FishFreak probably thinking about getting one or two more of the mark 4s. Really like it.
***** Yea just get mark 4s. They are the same price anyway..
Are you having the 1/1 @ 105mm misfire problem with it?
no issues yet at least, havent heard of it
***** none on mine either. I can actually turn it down to 1/4 power and it keeps up with my 70D at ~7PPS.
i didnt know that rf603 can communicate with this yn540iv! now im excited to buy the trigger!...
awesome, glad to help!

+Eric Rossi Yep, already spent about $30 on rechargable batteries for the first two flashes. lol Here we go again...but necessary.

yeah the mark 4 is better, but actually the v5 is coming out very soon so if you are not in a rush I would wait. The price of both would drop!

yeah Im very into this one I bought, I have a review on it to if you want to physically see it. Its the Raya softbox, very good price
***** Watched the video, seems like an awesome option for me, thank you!
Great video. Does this have HSS and TTL option? Thanks
this flash does not have ttl! its all manual
Eric Rossi does HSS work on this?
Great review, just what I needed to see

603/622 triggers etc.***
For sure the triggers wirelessly talk to the flash so that works, I have to check on if it can do line of sight slave mode though. not sure that it does
You can buy a power pack for the flash ,there's a Cannon flash connection on the side
do you feel that when you use auto white balance on your camera the yongnuo 560iv, the image turns out with cooler tone ? it turns blue
most to all flash bulbs give off a cooler Kelvin temp, you can adjust either in editing or in camera. But I give zero worries about it
Great Vid Eric, How have you been ? I been out of game for a bit , broke my back in several places. ERIC,
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO. IS THIS FLASH COMPATIBLE WITH MY SONY A 77II AND MY PIXEL KING WL TRIGGER AND RECEIVER
+Bob Coletta not sure about the pixel king system, but this should work with most sony cameras. For the smaller mirrorless line it does, not fully sure about the dslr like a77. You can try it and if it doesnt work, send it back
*****...thanks. that may be the only way to find out.
I bought 2 of these...the capacitors both went out in just a week...I was bummed. I'd love to replace the caps.
+sphexes Wow thats so weird, I would probably have gotten them replaced for free. But mine is still kicking from last year.
Hi Sir Eric, I bought this YN-560 Mark IV a month ago and I’m planning to buy a flash trigger, I don’t know which one is better? Yongnuo YN622n or Yongnuo RF-603. And I want for future also for multiple flash firing.
great question, it can only recieve a wireless signal from the rf 603, since once is built into that
Eric Rossi so it means the YN622n is better than rf603 to buy...? sorry cause im a newbie only
no, if you want to use and trigger the yn 560, you would need the rf 603.
Thank you
It looks good, Will it work with Nikon D610 ?
+Ucapture Me yup, I use it with my d700 and d600!
Hi, I'm actually thinking to buy 2 Yongnuo flashes with their receivers to use apart of the hot shoe to photograph Products(more exactly watches) - Could you suggest me whether it is a great idea and whether i'll have any issue running it with my D5300

nope these will work no problem! Just get the flashes and the triggers.
One thing I did not know when I bought them is that the "zoom" setting on the flash is supposed to correspond to the focal length of the lens being used....now I know.lol.
+TastyCritters yes and no, an example would be if you need more power to bounce on hi ceilings, you can zoom it in further to help get that power.
+Eric Rossi Thanks! will keep that in mind. :)
Is it worth it to buy nikon flashes anymore? Here's the yongnuo yn 560 mark 4 review.
#photography
***** I have a review on thursday coming out of the mark III version also.. LOL Such luck on my timing..
But hey keep a TTL flash for run and gun shooting. These manual flashes are awesome, but they are more for people wanting light weight portable studios. A set of these and those cheap cowboy studio umbrella kits off amazon and anyone can shoot basic portraits.
Thanks, Eric!
Hmm that can typically happen if your flash falls asleep, but thats more rare. Is both of your triggers on the same channel?
Duh, I did not have it set on RX .
Just got it working about 20 minutes ago. Thanks for your reply.
Thanks for making this review. Very helpful! :)
+Amr Khalifeh Glad it could help, thanks for watching!
Awesome vid! Looks like I found a new photography channel! :)
Kurt Bickell Thank you Kurt for taking the time to subscribe. Appreciate that!
Do you happen to know if I have 5 of these that I can set them up as follows:
Camera set for 20 second exposure for dark night sky shooting where I want to also capture the lights spaced away from me to light up areas while my long exposure is in progress:
Flash 1: mounted on my camera set to transmit and have the flash off so it does not emit any light, it just signals the others to fire when I fire my camera.
Flash 2: set up 10 feet away on receive mode that will have a 15 second delay and then fire.
Flash 3: set up 20 feet away with a 16 second delay
Flashes 4 & 5: Set up 30 feet away and both fire after 17 second delay.
this only connects with some, you may need the yn 660 which is newer now. You can use this as a master to 6 flashes.
Do you know if the master can "Not Flash" when it triggers the other flashes?
Christopher Lott
yeah you can turn that option off
im curious what will you get with those settings chris!!
Experimenting with light positioning for various land objects and interval firing in a long exposure of the milky way
hi mr. Eric.. i own a D7100 Nikon, do I need to change the settings from my camera for this flash, specially when i mount it on? please enlighten me, it must work side by side with my camera specially when im in AP mode right?
Nothing on camera, this is a manual flash.
Thanks for taking time to reply... 👍
should i buy with tag 'for nikon' or its universal for all camera?
and can i replace the 603 trigger with yne-rx ? i used nikon d7200. many thanks on it.
When searching, its actually only universal!
i decide to buy YN560iv and paired with 560-tx. I think this is the best for life!!
Thanks Eric.
Yoga Yasahardja
congrats!
I want to try Hi Speed Sync with this flash. Can tell me is there any function in this flash to do the same?
This does not, look into the yongnuo yn 685, that has the function!
How did you determine what channel the triggers were set on?
you can set them yourself, set them for the same channel so they can communicate
will the YN560 IV trigger the YN560 III on my Canon Mark III?
Miranda Larson Yup the 560 3 and 4 are built to trigger each other
I hv bought this flash and revd it today,.. Appears to be well built adn doesnt look like a chinese product,.. I am a bit perplexed with so many menu :( ,.. Hv u done any tutorial for this flash
I have not but will look into making one. Thanks for the suggestion!
Aperlite YH 700 E-TTL Flash vs Yongnuo IV which 1 you think is better?
+Jacqueline Phan Yongnuo IV
Can anyone tell me if this would work with a Nikon D610? I have been doing research but haven't found anything about the pairing. Thanks in advance!
It does! I use it on my Nikon d600 and even older d700 it's pretty universal
Hi how to conect the youngnuo to canon 80d wireless?
what about Yongnuo YN-568EX Speedlite Flash TTL
Did you tried with yn-560tx transmitter?
Nah I don't own one. But I know it works perfectly
this recommendation made me buy the yongnuo 560 iv.
awesome, glad to help!
i used it for maybe 6++ months and the bulb broke.. is it worth to buy another YN 560 IV ?
For the price you can't beat it.
i used yongnuo flash yesterday in my wedding job and this was make a great strobishwork. but i encountered flash cooling down between a shot was a problem in the job. does it happen in nikon flash or this 560 mark iv too? anyone pls help. thanks.
I havent noticed it a ton but all depends on the power you were using. What flash power were you using? Like 1/8, 1/4, 1/1?
Hi Eric, I used 1/4 and 1/2. I've read more and figure out that there is about 3sec cooldown time at 1/1. i dont know how much in nikon / canon flashes, but i think about the same. Thankyou Eric! Great video btw! :)
yeah they are about the same. It totally makes sense so nothing seems wrong!
Hey, could you tell me how good is the product after 2 years?
its pretty good, the buttons are depressed a little bit but doesnt effect much. Same flash bulb, works great
I wonder how does it compare with the Canon 600EX-RT
Palmstar125 I think itll match up well, I equate or compare that flash to Nikons sb900 type power
Palmstar125 the 600EX-RT is supposed to have a guide number of 60, the YN560 series has a guide number of 58. You likely will not notice the difference between them unless you use a light meter.
What does the guide number do?
Palmstar125 In short, its a measurement of the power output of the flash.
Picking these up now! I can get like 4 for the price of my sb900 lol
John Santosa I'd be interested to see the power test compared to that. From what i read up on, its a little under the power of the 900/910. But yeah you can get 3/4 of these and still be under one 900.
Hi. Does it work with sony A7? Thanks.
+Belton Rivera it does
WHATS THE BEST SETTING OF YN 560 IV WITH NIKON D90?
+Merlinda Funtanares SETTING FOR WHAT?
i'm a beginner in YN560.. settings in d90 is set in TTL..is it alright?
I just got 3 of these based upon reviews and I like them a LOT! Made detailed demo of them, demonstrating the features (Manual/Master/Slave/Optical-Slave/Advanced Settings, etc). Everyone is welcome to check it out on my channel and see if it fits your needs. On my opinion, these flashes are fantastic for the price!
+mrgclips and for the price is so easy to build a setup. For 4 of these don't even cost as much as one high end of a name brand. It's crazy.
Will it work with my Canon 77d? is it a ttl flash?
If you buy Yongnuo, make sure its "for Canon". They make for Nikon as well but made for Nikon wont work on Canon and vice versa.
@@cephotoclub thanks Brother ❤️
Hello, is this flash suitable for canon t6?
yes it is
Do you still use this as of today?
yes, still kicking!
Eric Rossi which modifier are you using with it?
I dont really use any, if I ever really need something to help, I use the F Stoppers Flash Disc. But I hardly use that.
Does it work with Nikon D7100
moofa24 alyheawy Yes
Thank you dear🌹
What about yongnuo yn600ex-rt ???
what about it?
@@Eric_Rossi it's a good or bad . ?? Can help me with a long time ??
all depends, what are you looking for? Just a good flash? One that does high speed sync? What features are you looking for?
Does the flash have HIGH SPEED SYNC???
NOpe!
One little negative noted on the Mk 4; don't bite your nails. If you do, like me, you will find it impossible to pull out the built in white card. A little annoying...
fallyhag lol and I never use that anyway. If thats the only fault this blows a lot of its competition away!
Does it work with canon 5d 2
+Syam Sundar Yup the Canon version will work!
To my eyes even at the 1/128 power the Yongnuo seems to be a little brighter than the SB 800
Ian Christie I have to agree, maybe just slightly. But its very similar in comparison. I wish I had a sb900/910 to test even more with.
***** I would agree with your review from what you show though, highly recommend the Yongnuo to someone looking for an economical way into flash photography. I have to get my hands on a couple as my current flash is a crappy old flash with no power control.
Ian Christie for 70 bucks its easy to send back if you dont like it lol
lol for sure.
seems like the nikon is pointing straight up and the yongnuo is slightly forward facing, but very similar all the same.
Thank you for this review. Gotta say... so jealous of your eyes!!! Must be so cool to have two different color eyes. If its an insecurity of yours... it shouldn't be. It's super sexy!
nah thats why I call myself The Guy With The Eye, not just for photography ;)!
Thanks for the video =)
thanks for this
Thanks for watching
Don't go on like $70 isn't money.
+Green Plasticbag Never said it wasnt money, compare it to 300-400 buck flashes that are similar quality. There's your answer.
Isn't that ovious why u 'Highlyyyyyyyy' recommend? Lol
Idk is it? If so then I shared my messssssssage
I already brought it soooooo it's good anyway.
its a great flash!
hi, can i use for CANON 5Ds?
yup!
thanks.. and.. amm.. yn 560tx radiocontroller too ?
not fully sure, but I do not think it will work with it. You may need the YN 565 instead
