Thank you for this video. I was going mad trying to figure out which one to buy. YN686EX-RT GN60 TTL Flash With Lithium Battery For Canon Camera is the clear winner.
Hey everyone, fairly long video here so just helping with some timestamps so you can jump to a section relevant to you: 0:45 - Quick breakdown of the full range 5:26 - Manual Flashes - universal and compatible with most cameras 8:50 - TTL Flashes - compatible with Canon and Nikon only 11:15 - Canon RT Flashes - Compatible with Canon only (Specifically the Canon RT wireless system) Some flashes that weren't shown in the video are: YN968N - Nikon full i-TTL flash with LED light (Nikon equivalent of the YN968EX-RT for Canon) YN660 - Manual Flash with GN60 (larger version of YN560 with built-in receiver for YN560-TX) YN585EX-P - Pentax P-TTL Flash YN565EX III - the latest versions of the YN565EX for Canon and Nikon Also older Yongnuo model flashes weren't included such as the YN460 series and earlier models of current flashes such as the YN560 II etc..
Thanks for the super informative video. Still a little hard to make a choice. Where is the printed guide shown near the end of the video. I didn’t see it on either of the pages that you linked to in the notes. Thanks!
@@jaschwa1979 Apologies for that Jeff! If you scroll to the bottom of our blog post here, you'll see the compatibility chart for the Yongnuo speedlites there: goo.gl/bUofbr Hope this helps! We'll include the link to the chart in the video description for easier access next time :)
I got one on Alibaba, I have used it for 3 months but now it doesn't give any difference whether 1/1 or 1/128 the output intensity is just the same. Any advice
Thank You ! This is the most comprehensive overview of Yongnuo flashes I've seen. You are right, I've mistakenly purchased incompatible Yongnuo flashes, some are triggered by 560 tx and others by 622N tx. I guess its a learning curve. Anyhow thanks again and also for the chart which is very useful.
Great guide, thanks so much! I was wondering if its possible to buy a trigger that will be able to control both a yn968ex-rt as well as a yn560iv flash off camera?
I just brought the YN568EXIII for Nikon, but I have the Canon R and just want to see if it will work. It works! Maybe because the Canon R is more advance to be comparable with most flashes?
Talk more about the yn 568 ex ,does it have hss, does it have ttl can i slave it ,can it be a master ,does the screen back light ,does it have an inbuilt receiver to work with a trigger,
As I can see on my own YN-685N there isn't MASTER option. YN-685N is a TTL Slave Flash! Correct me if I'm wrong and teach me how to make it master flash without any additional transmitters. I'm considering to buy YN-968N so I can use it as a on camera master flash, and to be able to make TTL connection with my old YN-685N which will be used as a off camera flash without any transmitters and receivers. I'm right? Cheers :)
I have two Yongnuo YN600EX-RT II along with the Yongnuo YN-E3-RT trigger system. I stopped using regular AA batteries on the YN600EX-RT II and switched over to rechargeable AA batteries. What I found out that the recycle time is much faster using rechargeable over standard batteries.
BTW - *QUESTION* I currently have a YN560IV flash but from your video it looks like i want to purchase the YN600EX-RTII for the HSS capability. Now will my current flash the yn560IV be able to be a manual flash/slave so i can shoot off camera. I currently also have 2 rf-603c that i used a few years back with the older YN560. Better Yet ..... what would you recommend if I decide to purchase the YN600EX-rtII as 2 manual flashes used off camera. Thanks so much ..... id love to hear your advice =)
You needed to have the triggers in the video as well. I still cannot figure out if my RT trigger for my 560 will accommodate the hss of a 686 or if I would also have to upgrade the trigger to an rx version 😟🥺☹️
Can you tell me if the YN200c is compatible with the YN685C in RF mode? I have a couple of YN685 but want to add a YN200 without having to switch my whole setup. Thanks.
Hey. I got a YN560-TX Manual Flash Controller a few years ago from a friend. At that time I wasn't inerested in flash phoography but he gave it to me saying "if you ever get interested...". I was wondering if this conroller could work as triggers for a YN568 or YN685. It would save me a few bucks on a new trigger.
Nice video!could someone explain me which should i buy between the Yongnuo YN-568 EXiii and YN968EX-RT. (i don't care about the radio triggering system,i only want to understand the advantages of each flash)
Hi! Thanks for the excellent video. I have a question. I own a canon 430 ex and a yongnuo 560 mk 2 both controlled by rf 603 c. What if i want to buy other 2 yongnuo flashes (with internal receiver) and a controller like the YN560-TX using all 4 flashes simultaneously? Can I trigger the old flashes (430 and 560 mk 2) by the YN560-TX? Thanks!
Which HSS flash/trigger combo would you recommend? I'm currently using YN660 flash with YN560TX with my Nikon cameras, but really need HSS. I was thinking to get YN685 flash and YN622TX or YN-E3-RT trigger. Now, as far as I can see, YN622TX comes as a trigger/reciever kit, so I guess I'd also be able to use my YN660 flash in HSS mode. Is YN-E3-RT a noticable upgrade over YN622TX? Any suggestions on what's the best combo for HSS? Thanks in advance!
@@milavanili Basically your camera shutter reaches a speed (1/8000) so that it surpasses the sync with the flash and can't register all the light. HSS is a way of strobing the flash so you have even light across the entire frame without dark edges where the shutter closes before it could register all the light evenly from the flash. Its something that's a lot easier to see on the photo than to explain.
Hi, i have a YONGNUO YN968 speedlight. it's unuseable becaue it continously fires when not in use. Wen new batteries are inserted it rapid fires on it's own. anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
I know nothing. About speedlight I have a d800 Nikon wonder which of these work with my 800 and if any rechargeable or am I better off to get a Nikon flash
A question that I have not been able to figure out for myself: Can I use a YN560TX to trigger one of the TTL flashes in slave mode? And, will the TTL flash accept the power change settings in Manual mode from the 560 TX? I ask this because I think I would like to have a manual setup for many lights and one TTL flash for smaller setups.
Hi Bill, The YN560-TX controller is only directly compatible with the Yongnuo 560/660 series of flashes. If you're using TTL flashes, you will need the newer YN622 II transreceiver underneath each TTL flash to control them in a manual setup. The new YN622 II transreceivers have a 560-RX mode to work within the 560 wireless system. More info can be found here: flashhavoc.com/yongnuo-yn560-tx-to-yn-622c-compatibility-added/
All of the flashes contain a centre pin. If you're after a manual flash, any from the "Manual Flash" range will suit. Alternatively, if you're after a TTL flash purchase the Canon specific flash.
The YONGNUO YN968N has been superseded by the YONGNUO YN968N II Main difference is the new version zooms to 200mm (vs 105mm) Also length is 8mm longer and 10g heavier. YONGNUO say 'newly upgraded operation interface, more simple and convenient to use, supports USB Firmware upgrade'. Both the same price online ($129) at B&H.
I have the older YN968n with the latest firmware 1.06. In the Yongnuo YN560 TX Pro manual it "appears" to say it works in iTTL if the firmware is updated. Do you know if the YN560 TX Pro will control the YN968n in iTTL like the YN622 tx?
I had a couple of 568exII and bought a 685 to get more power and of course the built in receiver. It might be my unit, but the 685 is actually 1 full stop of power weaker than the 568... so disappointed...
Depends on what camera brand you shoot with. If you don't mind manually controlling your flash the YN-560 IV is great bang for buck and works with most cameras!
I bought two Yongnuo YN600 ex-rt speedlites and both have developed faults the zoom stops working after light use I would not buy this brand of speedlite again.
How come no one set's up shop here in the states to do repairs on these. Anyone that say's these are, "Throw away's" can kiss my ass. To throw away $80-$100+ must be nice, most cannot afford to do that.

Very useful as it groups the different models and tells you what they can do and not do.
Damn, I applaud you just for learning all the little differences among all these almost identically named products, honestly. Good video!

I believe the YN 968 EX RT also has the capability of tilting backwards. So you can bounce light off the back wall.
Could you make a complete user guide on Yn685 ASAP please.

do yn720 compatible with yn560 tx transmitter?

Hi, I have the 968. I have a problem with it continuously going off while not in use/standby. Have I got it set up incorrectly? Beginner here🤔
That shouldn't happen and could potentially be faulty. Is this when shooting on-camera or off-camera?
Awesome vid!
Thanks for the visit!
Which of them do you advise me for canon 5d mark ii and 6d please..
