A friend of mine had diamond heart necklaces from her belated love for many years..every Christmas that is what he bought her....one day her daughter stole them all and sold them for drug money! A lovely memory associated with each one! They were delicate and not expensive ones....that friend was devastated! She was able to find a few at hock shops but lost most of them for good! Her daughter is still into drugs. A sad waste of a beautiful young ladies life! She would do anything for her daughter but that was what she got also....

Sadly is becoming a huge issue in recent years! So sorry that happened to that family. We own a vacation home used for a year as a weekender residing elsewhere. No issues that first year and then we moved in full time for 7 years after the housing crisis. Since where its located is a vacation island privately owned with over 300 house...only 50 residents, crime is rare here. We had to move our sons off the island for Tech college out of state. I asked a friend to keep an eye on the place but we thought it was fairly safe. Every year we cut the lawn to the ground and kept things reasonable...lawn grows very slow. Health issues caused us to skip a year and then we came back to get the house ready to move back in.... Well they had a good time ripping us off all the useful items outside and rummaged thru my kitchen taking alot out of it. This was during the time we couldn't get back. We promptly moved back in and installed a camera on the front porch. I made sure everyone knows we live here full time and have a CAM at our home. Not a single thing went missing after that. If you install indoor cameras also install exterior, make sure you have it posted that you have full on site video survellance viewed 24 hours a day. Get a sign printed up. It makes a big difference if they know they can be caught by being filmed. Install loud alarms that go off if someone breaks in. There is a lot you can do to protect yourself.

Sadly is becoming a huge issue in recent years! So sorry that happened to that family. We own a vacation home used for a year as a weekender residing elsewhere. No issues that first year and then we moved in full time for 7 years after the housing crisis. Since where its located is a vacation island privately owned with over 300 house...only 50 residents, crime is rare here. We had to move our sons off the island for Tech college out of state. I asked a friend to keep an eye on the place but we thought it was fairly safe. Every year we cut the lawn to the ground and kept things reasonable...lawn grows very slow. Health issues caused us to skip a year and then we came back to get the house ready to move back in.... Well they had a good time ripping us off all the useful items outside and rummaged thru my kitchen taking alot out of it. This was during the time we couldn't get back. We promptly moved back in and installed a camera on the front porch. I made sure everyone knows we live here full time and have a CAM at our home. Not a single thing went missing after that. If you install indoor cameras also install exterior, make sure you have it posted that you have full on site video survellance viewed 24 hours a day. Get a sign printed up. It makes a big difference if they know they can be caught by being filmed. Install loud alarms that go off if someone breaks in. There is a lot you can do to protect yourself.
