- today is the day!! I'm tearing down all my tanks and moving my pets as I relocate to a new state. Hopefully, this demonstrates how to travel with exotic pets (especially turtles and aquatics, like my axolotl) and road trip with them during a move!

I’m in the process of moving and I’ve moved out everything except the animals. I’m saving all the reptiles, amphibians, and other critters for last and it Is definitely terrifying. I have a very large variety of enclosures and supplies. Some of my enclosures are massive for my monitors and large snakes. I’m definitely not looking forward to this but I’m definitely looking forward to being settled in the new place with more room to expand and continue doing what I love. I wanted to thank you so much for your videos. I enjoy them so much and they have helped me take care of my rescued turtle. The old owner neglected him and only fed him fish food and had no filter. The turtle lived outdoors in a well with no filter. When i searched the pond i found another two dead turtles. There was one more that was alive which i took form the pond. He had holes in his shell and it was rotting. Its been months since i got him and his shell is healing and his colour returned. Your videos have been a huge help!! Thank you! 🎉

hey. I have a question. I'm thinking about getting rams horn snails. But im not sure if I need to get a top or not. Im thinking about getting a glass jar with a top. Like a bottle from marshals or sum. If you could show of your snail tank or just talk about how you set it up. I really don't want to kill them. Im thinks sand/rocks, plants, moss ball, and the container. But idk what to do about the container. Pls help if you can
Congratulations!!! 🥳 I have a quick question, I’ve had my baby turtle ( I think he’s a hatchling ) for a week now. I’m just getting the proper equipment for him a day ago. I’ve been trying to feed him the past week but he’s only eaten once from what I’ve seen. I have the turtle pellets, sticks, worms, and even tried soaking the pellets in tuna. I’m not sure what to do. Please help if you can, I’m trying my best
Hmmm… you may just need to give them more time to settle in! Making sure the temps are warm (even the water) can help too. Best of luck!

Question for you, does Hoku ever bury himself in the sand substrate? I have a 6 month old DBT who is currently sleeping a bit more than usual and is trying to bury himself in the sand. Sounds like brumating but he’s in a tank inside with weekly water changes and 80 degrees! Any ideas? I just am worried something is wrong. Thank you for any info!

Congratulations on your move ! I have a question about turtle tanks I need help with. Is there a way to combat hard water? No matter what I do even with weekly water changes I get hard water white stains all on my tank and filter . It’s so white you it looks like the stains the salt leaves behind after melting the snow 😑
Hmmm…i believe there are water softeners you can purchase? But not sure for aquarium use 🤔 unfortunately i dont know the answer to your question sorry :(

Hi turtle girl i just want to ask if turtles are sensitive to chlorine? Do i need to put dechlorinator when doing water changes ?
Either way really goes. Ive both used dechlorinator and also skipped out. Usually for smaller water changes I dont, but a new tank setup or bigger water changes I will.

So…I am moving soon, my daughter has two turts…a musk named Blastoise and an African sideneck named Larry 😅 My hubby passed away this summer, and I know NOTHING about turtles. So your videos have helped me a ton. Why are you not putting water in with the turtles for transport?

Brackish in the wild! But in captivity many breeders raise them in fresh

Just reduce the amount that you're feeding then, and give them a few days to process the food they've already eaten!

@@Random-dh7xv yes it’s a myth that has gone away over time. I forgot all about that, but I think it was toads gives warts. Turtles can however carry salmonella their have been cases of kids getting sick, but it’s because of bad water quality. Poop and food accumulate in the water causing bad bacteria to live in the water kids come and touch the turtles and then put their hands in their mouth. It’s like drinking the dirty water. They then get sick and go to the doctor then they are part of the cases of “kids getting sick from turtles”. Nobody has ever gotten sick from turtles online because now we prioritize filtration, health, and space for turtles to swim. Back then was when all the illnesses from turtles existed because they were kept in bowls or bad tanks
Washing your hands before and after you handle any animal should be common practice.
