    Your turtles are so cute. My YBS turtle is about as smart as your axoloto lol but he’s never bitten me fortunately. He just gets so over excited he misses his food completely trying to go for my hand. Also I love how all turtles do the “I want food feed me feed me!” thing.

    My axolotl always bites my finger 😂 But since I started feeding axolotl pellets as they are very nutritious and they are easy for the axolotl to smell, I've just trained her to eat them from a bowl so no finger eating happens! 🙌

    Do you have any suggestions on getting turtles to eat wheat germ? I have two map turtles that’s are shedding scutes so I’ve been trying to get them to eat the wheat germ to help them with shedding but neither like them. It’s the omega one brand of wheat germ I’m using, not sure if it’s the brand they don’t like or what🤷🏻‍♂️

    I’ve been feeding my turtle directly into his tank and it sure leave food powdery behind. I thought the filter takes care of little food specks left behind. It is a bit messy right no wonder your method would eliminate getting the whole tank dirty and eliminate frequent water change. I do own a red ear slider for two years and will consider feeding in separate container. I got him when he was a baby. Is he a juvenile (my turtle @ 2 years old)? When are they considered adult/full grown?

Its settling in well but sometimes I don't think it eat as well as it should. Ps. I don't know what to name it. Please advise me on any of this? Thanks. Cool videos btw.

    • @basilstorm9461
      @basilstorm9461 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Candace Brooks Id be worried about the Axolotl, they can be pretty sensitive. Do they have different temperature requirements? Axolotl’s have very delicate gills too, so a rough touch (even if the turtle is non aggressive) could be dangerous

    • @animalsbya7585
      @animalsbya7585 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I know this is late but please don't do anything smaller than a 20 gallon. Axolotls have been known to reach up to 13 inches long which is wider than a 10 and 20 gallon so its best to get the biggest you can.

    • @texxmurphy9319
      @texxmurphy9319 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It also depends on the Axolotl, there are such things as mini Axolotls that only reach about half the normal size of a normal Axolotl, in that case you could have a 10 no problem.

    Hi Turtle Girl! I just subscribed to ur channel bc i think the way you teach turtle owners how to care for their tirtles is very great and clear. Now I do have a question bc my turtle is giving me mix signals.. sounds funny bc i want to know if my turtle is a girl or a boy. Now i e seen videos but my turtle has long nails, but also has a high shell like ppl say that is a female if it is n its a boy when they have long nails like Freddie Krueger, and that why i say mix signals. So my question is HOW CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERENCE IF ITS A BOY OR GIRL? Bc i think its a girl bc she also has a flat belly no dent in her that shows but her nails r mighty long does it mean its not a female??

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would pick a container that's large enough for the turtle just to turn around and maybe at least twice the length of the turtle. It doesn't need to be big...if it's too big they'll take longer to eat the food ;) I've done a tank tour if that's what you mean by setup. Not quite confident enough to do a care video, but maybe in a few months I will :)

    Oof this is why I can’t have a snake or anything that eats stuff like that hahahah. I would not be able to look at a worm, cut it, and give it to something to eat it lol. I know it happens but I used to have a worm farm and they’re very intelligent and I just couldn’t do it. And you said you’re getting a snake?? I couldn’t lol. And I feed my turtle shrimp buttt idk
