Hey marty, Another thing I can suggest you do to your engine is the "Extra stud mod" for your 3SGTE. My buddy's got a Caldina and had endless issues with warped exhaust manifold mounting before he did that mod. Basically Toyota cut costs and left a spare hole for an exhaust stud. You add this weld-in plate to your exhaust flange, get the flange machined and then fit the stud to the spare hole to make a more secure fit for your exhaust manifold. Less blown gaskets and such.

As much as these cars are a nightmare to work on, it's hard not to get attached the moment you take (a modified) one for a spin. The engine so close to your ear holes singing the song of its people, the responsiveness on the road, the fact the cockpit feels like it's giving you a big hearty grandma hug whenever you're in it, and the occasional reminder that it's a mid-engined car that weighs about as much as a feather and will happily spin you around to face the wrong way if you get overly aggressive with the go pedal.

@@lordgoofus2364 Yeah i think that could be the case, but the rev1's like Marty has are known to be a bit more snappy on the stability side which was sorted out in the rev 2 and 3's, the Mk2's also aren't that light because the were the largest and widest of the MR2's, they weigh 1260kg even though its a 2 seater, that's the same as a Sierra Cosworth or early awd Impreza turbo as you have to remember they have more bulkheads than your average car which adds to the weight, half bulkhead at the front of the tub where the rads are, the firewall infront of the driver, the bulkhead behind the driver, the bulkhead between the engine and boot then then the rear panel at the bumper making it 5, the sierra has the firewall infront of the driver and rear bumper panel in comparison.
I've had 2 MR2's a MK1 and MK2, and yes even though i liked them to drive as marty is experiencing they are a bit of a pig to do anything on...in saying that my FN2 type R is kinda the same due to how tight the engine bay clearance and has fought me in most things ive had to do to it so its all horses for courses, them's the joys of cars

      Yeah for sure.
It always has worked for me,turbo remove and install would breeze by and I couldn't help thinking how easy it would have been with the wiring too,the MR2 would need less than 30 wires to run without issues.they could have removed TVIS.
Those bunch of injector wires could have been cut out the harness.
When a harness is about a metre long, then just do a new one plug to plug.

+Mighty Car Mods: Hey Marty! An MR2 owner here from the USA....
FWIW, wiring colors for many MR2 generations/variations are that brown (BRN) and green (GRN) function as "grounds" or "earth" and sometimes both of these wire jacket colors have tracers, usually white (WHT) trace on green and sometimes black (BLK) trace on brown. That color variation schemata normally is reserved for subsets of a given set, such as 'ignition.' That has been my experience in fiddling w/ wiring on both a '93 Turbo and/or an '89 Supercharged. Amazing that the Japanese stuck w/ that basic overall color schemata for so long!
Best of luck in dealing w/ one of the most ornery vehicles ever made. But, I suppose you already know that? 😳🤣

For reference, the engine bay fan was for the stock IC, fitted into the driver side (RHD) side vent. The temp sensor towards the front of the engine lid monitored engine bay temps over the hottest part of the bay (turbo & manifold), which was relatively close to the stock IC. With an A2W IC installed, the fan isn't needed anymore, since the engine bay easily cools by itself via the vents on the engine lid.
