Literally the only car i’ve ever seen the GT lose to is the 720s. And I’ve watched dozens of races. GT is an amazing American Engineered car, legendary.

@@cosmicbro1973 - I think it's been a week or two but I just watched a Ferrari 488 Pista destroy a McLaren 720S on a track somewhere, not too long ago. It beat it on the straights and outcornered the 720S. It was a TH-cam video and that's all I know but I might search my history to try and find it. I think they were both stock.

It's amazing how many are shocked that the Ford GT wins. Ferrari is notorious for having their press cars run faster times than customer cars. Similar to what GM did with the ZR1 going through multiple sets of tires to beat a GT that ran only 3 laps at VIR and would still lose to the GT in Motor Trend despite the GT running 3 laps versus GM using 3 sets of tires.
I'll say this in my half mile prediction, the Ford GT will beat the ZR1. I'll also predict that should that be a track winged ZR1, after the loss ZR1 fanboys will complain you didn't use the non winged ZR1 and tells us how much value it has despite having to resort to 2 models to compete.

All of my Friends who own a Ford GT keeps theirs in a garage as a collector car. Nobody buys this car to do this type of stuff. You are lucky to see this car in public. Now my friends including myself do buy corvettes to have fun with along with Porsche’s and Ferrari’s. And yes, Ferrari’s are amazing and do not need to hype anything. They actually call you and invite you to events to learn about new cars and technology but, most people never get that invite if they don’t own a Ferrari or are into the sports car/supercar world. The Ford GT is a racecar only and was never meant to be a street car which is why it actually beat the Ferrari. I would go deeper into specs but, I don’t have time for that.

Brooks is the only GT owner out here actually promoting the car like Ford wanted. Ford has delivered over 500 GTs and there's only 1 consistently on youtube. CaptainSparkles does show the car sometimes, but doesn't race it.

The Ford isn’t a drag car either it’s completely track focused. It’s pretty impressive in a straight which I wasn’t fully expecting. I love both though, that 488 is beautiful.

The Ford GT has existed since 2016. You're not getting away with the age argument, especially when the GT isn't loaded with superior tech like the 720s.
I really wasn't sure about the GT before, but the looks have grown on me, the performance speaks for itself (check out the Ford GT One Take, my fave), it can actually haul ass on the strip, and even the sound has really grown on me. Such an angry, raspy v6

I think the ZR1 will edge out the GT in the 1/2 as long as there is traction.
All of the zr1 1/2 have been 4-5 mph slower than the gt
Zr1 lost to the gt I’m not sure if the zr1 tires slipped but it has corsa exhaust and got smoked gt158+ zr1 154mph
Ford GT Will Probably Walk The ZR1 by about 2-3 mph. The ZR1s exhaust does nothing to the car but make it a bit louder and a bit sharper. The ZR1 is still technically stock If your Comparing Speed. But the Ford GT is definitely faster. The ZR1 does beat the AMG GTR, the 600 LT, and the 488 GTB though.

So who beat who? Takes a WHOLE LOT of sacrifice on the Ford's side to barely edge out the 488, which is still a much, much better car in every other aspect.
Not to mention the 488 Pista, which is the actual track focused car that should be compared to the Ford GT, which will literally wipe the floor with it because it's considerably faster than the 488.
Oh and let's not forget the La Ferrari...just in case you still think Ford has any chance in beating Ferrari.

What. I knew gts were amazing, but looking at the stats before the race, i thought "aww first loss." Then he smoked the ferrari. The gt was literally statistically worse in every aspect but still came out on top. The gt is amazing
When I 1st heard about the new Ford GT having 6cyl ecoboost, I was pretty put off. However they kicked ass at Lemans 24hr & it's aero is so insane for track handling. Definitely a collectable!

Yep. The Ferrari 488 GTB has more claimed downforce though. Ferrari say 325kg at 250km/h (155mph). And I wouldn’t doubt that at all, the 488 GTB handles very well. Ford say the GT makes 181kg at 150mph (241km/h).
Now, the Ferrari 488 Spider may be a different story. I don’t know for downforce figures but I know it produces more drag than the 488 GTB, being the less aerodynamic and heavier convertible version. So it would be slightly slower.
In official testing 488 GTB beats GT 10.6. to 10.8 In official testing 458 beats F Type R awd 11.1 to 11.4. However, for regular drivers awd is easier than rwd. GT driver just had to be a tiny bit better. This GT was considerably faster to 150 than the fastest time(14.5 seconds) obtained by Car and Driver. Motor Trend at around 15 seconds was even slower. So the car is well broken in or is 20-30 bhp above stock. I'm assuming a 6.1-6.3 0-100 mph leading to a 13.5 0-150 mph which is 488 coupe numbers.

2. The 488 GTB has done the 1/4 mile in 10.3 secs at 137mph. Find me a Huracán LP610-4 or 911 Turbo S that did it quicker and trapped higher. I’ll wait.
Ford should put a Twin Turbo V8 in the GT to make at least a healthy 850hp and then it can probably take down a McLaren or La-Ferrari !!!
I love the look of the Ford GT. That car and Vipers are some painfully beautiful American exotics. Occasionally I see a Corvette I really like too, but its rare.

2 mph difference after 1/2 miles is far from "killed". And it jumped the start which made the difference look bigger. AND is a track focused car designed for nothing but performance. 488 is still a FAR better car overall.

Don't underestimate the gains to be had with lighter wheels. Unsprung weight savings are huge...even if you're only talking a few pounds. I'd put the race tyres on the superlight wheels, and use your current wheels daily, but I'd change the colour for a darker look.
