- The final video featuring our WORLD EXCLUSIVE shootout with the LaFerrari, P1 and 918 Spyder. We took the three cars to Bruntingthorpe to film them accelerating from 0 - 300 kph (186 mph). Each car was fitted with Vbox timing gear which started recording when the car left the line, so it doesn't matter if one had a slight jump start.

For the 918 you should have switched to sport mode after ~140 mph.
That would have caused less drag from its rear spoiler. That's what Porsche recommendes at least.

+Danilo Cennon Note - the cars all had separate timing gear so it doesn't matter if one jumped the start. The video of the race was for your viewing pleasure.
+X Blame Ferrari for handicapping their own million dollar supercar.
+X Trofeo R's are an optional tire on the car and how the owner purchased the car. The 918 is equipped with the Weissach package so it is as optioned as it can be for performance as well. Again the owner opted for the best version of each car so that's how they were tested.
+X I never said it includes new tires, only that it was the most performance oriented version of the 918 available. Porsche and Ferrari chose not to equip their cars with better tires so all cars were tested as delivered from the factory. Complain to them, not the video producers.
+X Reaching 60mph quickly has much more to do with traction limitations than reaching 150mph quickly. The awd system of the 918 gives it the traction advantage even though its tires arent as sticky. The fact it is ising 4 of them to accelerate more than makes up for that and get it to 60 faster even though it makes less power. Then beyond 60mph the better power to weight ratio of the P1 shines through once traction is no longer the limiting factor.
They clearly explain this in the video.

One car like this having a removable top is irrelevant. The fact the it cost a 1 million is impressive enough, but for a hypercar only 1 stat that really matters. Who is the fastest? And they just answered that.

All these comparisons that claim to be completely fair always have one thing in common, doing something to the P1 that isn't done on others. It's either using road-illegal setup, or running tires with more grip than others, or doing tires AND manually reducing the rear wing which gives it a big advantage in the straight line (and big disadvantage in corners) over the others where aerodynamic was untouched. Trusting brits to do an honest test that involves a british car is about the same as trusting americans when they say they'll bring democracy to your country. And no, I'm not a typical fanboy. I'm actually a mechanical engineer with experience in developing several road cars and race cars, I know exactly what I'm talking about, in fact, more than the people who did this test and made the video.

Turbo S has consistent launch due to awd that means it does 2.5 or 2.6 any time while the 2.5s in the LaF is only done at the right conditions(grippy and hot surface, cold air, balanced humidity, not too high or not too low on the sea level, right car conditions, and driver mod) probably on a prepped track and on a normal day maybe 3 or 3.3s or worst in wet track maybe 4s.

If anything it's either computers fault or driver error. 720s, carrera s, gt3, gt2rs, 488 and more are all rwd cars running consistently very good 0-100km/h times. Actually 720s and gt2rs do it in about 2,6-2,7 seconds. 3,7s is a disgrace for a modern supercar let alone a hypercar with 950hp

Not only this, but did you notice how crazy slow the cars were accelerating on he Vbox?? Like I know the speedo is not perfectly accurate, but it’s about 10 km/h off and I’ve seen other vids of these cars accelerating WAY faster. There is something wrong with this video. Idk if it’s the surface or something, but these cars aren’t at their potential.

Nope. In fact this video shows the Porsche 918 had the best start time, and was fastest to 100mph, then the P1 beat it from 100-150mph, and both the P1 and LaFerrari beat it from 150mph upward.

It is the best Drag Race I've seen so far. I hope next time to include three supercars but the Bugatti Veyron SS, Koenigsegg Agera R and Hennessey Venom GT. To compete together with these three (McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari.). Excellent video, congratulations.
918 ALL DAY LONG! It was clearly the underdog in the competition. Less power, more weight, but it still managed to keep up to 150 mph, and to be honest that's as fast as anyone would probably go in these cars. But they are all WINNERS and awesome machines that I would sell my organs to own

They get them all accelerating together but the testing is individual and is shown at the end, silly to drag race them as it factors in the drivers reaction times which can wildly affect things.

Back in 1992, the legendary McLaren F1 was already as fast as the modern P1. It was capable of 0-62 MPH in 2.1 seconds and 0-186 MPH in 20.3 seconds despite having alot less power. In my opinion, it remains the ultimate car. Especially that orange LM version and the Gulf Livery GTR version. 🧡💙
Look at all the Ferrari fanboys blaming the tyres. Perhaps off the line it made a difference hence the 3.68 to 60 but the P1 still did 150 to 186 a second faster and you can't blame the tyres that high up the Rev range. Face it, the P1 is a monster. Would be interesting to see what a Koenigsegg would do in amongst all these.

Trofeos are 1 second per minute faster than corsas. If you're gonna do at a test make it equal. Trofeos are for the track even if road legal.
+marconico that's for track racing. We are talking drag racing here. Trofeos would help from 0-around 50, from thereon no noticeable difference is seen. And to all whiny LaF fanboys, it it is a fact that the P1 is quicker 0-180/200 mark. From thereon the higher power of the LaF takes the lead, but out of the line and a good way up in the higher gears the P1 is factually faster. Even from factory they are stated like this = 918 quickest to around 100-120mph, then P1 to around 180-200mph, then LaF takes the lead to top speed. It is about simple gearing, torque, and weight. Not so much about tires, unless we talk circuit racing.

Fearzzy Well considering the road surface isn't the best, it's also damp and at an incline, and I believe they're running with no traction control in this nearly 1000hp car and they aren't professional drivers, it's entirely possible.

There are many video on internet (Vmax events ad example), and performance are different.

The Trofeo R tyre is a road tyre and no where near a race tyre. Stock on the 675LT and optional on the P1 between Corsas and Trofeo Rs.

The LaFerrari isn't made for drag races. It's made for you to enjoy the driving experience on and off the track, it isn't made for comparing wich one is the best. It can loose every race to every car, but it will always win one race, the race is about passion and flare while building the car, designing the car, buying the car, driving the car and enjoying the car.

Shocked with this result, but when you look at every other McLaren they do always seem to tear away in the higher gears so i shouldn't be surprised. Don't know if they tune them to have more power in the top end of the gears to give them a more controllable 'naturally' aspirated kind of feel, or if they are trying not to throw every bit of torque into first gear so the gearbox breaks... Everyone talks about their reliability issues, maybe they are trying to prevent it haha. Either way, this was a strange race. P1's are an incredible looking car no doubt, but i still think i'd have a LaFerrari... and i'm a little bit of a porsche fan boy!

Did you see this video, there 're giving the win to the P1,including drag, track times, overall. Meanwhile in Hyper 5 THE 918 was just 0.02 faster than LaFerrari and LaFerrari beat the P1. In drag times, P1 beat LaFerrari, but the P1 got owned by the 918. That's the way Mclaren people do, as the did in F1 by stealing Ferrari's data. Is quite common to se this, even in Top Gear, they always where bringing up first British brands.

The 918 is an engineering marvel, a worthy successor to the tradition of the glorious 959. And a fair bit easier on the expenses than the other 2, I suspect. More useable...If I could only have one it would be the Porsche.

It really weighs 1585kg. And also, the track has an incline and the conditions aren't good. Manufacturers do it on perfect conditions, hence why times are better.

Everyone is complaining about the times, especially about the LaF 0-60 time. Fact, companies release estimated speeds/times of their cars based on an average of their cars two quickest times going in two different directions in ideal conditions. The LaF uses a naturally aspirated V12 which varies with atmosphere pressure (meaning the higher you are, the more power it loses). The video also clearly states there is a 2% incline. This is the real world. Paper numbers =/= Actual scenario numbers.
