- Well it took a few days to pull the engine on the BMW 328i project with work and all but it's out! We did order forged pistons and rods so hopefully those show up soon!

Where do you work as your day job ? Random question but assuming you work somewhere where youre teching on cars
I was a helicopter mechanic in the Army then worked my way up in corporate tech for years. I was working at a mechanic shop on the side for a few months just to stay busy but quit a while back and now I am just hanging out. Moving to PA in a few weeks though so the content slowed down a bit until I can get settled.
Where did you have to clearance the block for the pistons and rods? And how did you do it? I'm doing the same build with the same internals and am curious as to what you did
Hey, bearing clearance or the H beam rods? Bearing clearance is marked on the crank. You have to find the color code and check the size then plastiguage the new bearings to verify clearance. For the rods I had to use a carbide bit to grind the bottom of the cylinder wall to fit the rods.
@projectrandomCO Sorry should've specified, yes, for the H beams. Thank you, in terms of how much you had to grind away. Was it a lot or just a small bit. I'm using the exact same pistons and rods from the website, but they're on backorder for a little, so I'm just trying to get the block ready for them.
I would wait til they come in to do the clearance just to make sure you don't take off too much. It was a decent amount, I put an old bearing in the new rod and checked the clearance a handful of times taking off little bits at a time.
@@projectrandomCO Thanks! I happened to find your build series at the same time i started building mine and the pistons/rods were always the part that gave me a little confusion. I appreciate the help and love the series!
