  • Rockwell Automation's Connected Components Workbench software is the programming software for one of the newer PLC product lines called the Micro800 controllers.
This is free PLC programming software that you can download from Rockwell's website here: compatibility.rockwellautomat...
Search for RSLogix Micro, then RSLogix Emulate 500 (RSLinx Classic Lite should included with one of those packages but if not also search for and download that too).
If you're interested in learning more in order to become a confident PLC programmer I recommend mastering the basics of automation, that's why I created this simple cheat sheet that you download here: www.myplctraining.com/3-thing...
You can check the free mini course I have on programming the MicroLogix 1000 and 1100 PLCs here: www.myplctraining.com/free-mi...

thanks for the video. I assume that in order to download to the controller, you're going to need RSLinx. Is there another way to load the program into the controller? Is there a free version of RSLinx?

Rob, yes I think you'll need RSLinx. The free version is RSLinx Classic Lite. Available on Rockwell's Website.

@@myplctraining1238 I downloaded it and found that RSLinx is embedded in the CCW software. It works great.

I'm having a scaling issue with CCW. Certain text gets cut off and makes it difficult to navigate. I already Uninstalled and reinstalled. Any ideas?

Justin, I'm guessing it's a setting in your options menu. Tools > Options > ??

That download is not free. It needs a Rockwell key to download.

You obviously know exactly why and what you are doing. WE DO NOT. It would be helpful (to us) if you would rehearse what you are going to present. When you quickly zoom around the screen, aimlessly searching with the cursor, and access functions without any explanation, we get lost. Please remember that your target audience is we who are ignorant of what you know. You keep using acronyms without explanation, and too often refer to other platforms such as RS500, STUDIO5000, etc. These are meaningless to us, and their mention is confusing... because we don't know anything yet.
I am a State licensed Commercial Master Electrician, and I am sharp, but I am 100% new to PLC's. I am taking an introductory course at my local community college, which uses AB micro 850's in the labs. The textbook specified is written for Siemens S7-300 controllers. The (adjunct) instructor is inept with CCW. I am just trying to learn enough to not be so lost, thus I am looking at your youtubes.
    Thanks,
