Nice explanation of scanning, Tim. As an older industrial electrician who grew up with relay logic first, I must start with the STOP button in series before the START button. Lol
Then you'll like Friday's video (I think it will be Friday). I talk about the difference between having it is series and paralleled such as this. Nothing wrong with either day, but they do function differently.

This way the stop button won't work if the start button is pressed or stuck.

I love your videos and have a learned a lot from them. Watching your videos really helped me to be able to navigate and learn how to program ladder logic in CCW. I was already familiar with RSLogix 5, 500, and 5000.
I have a question about something you said around 7 minutes. You said that the PLC would check to see if the bottom part of the branch has power flow, even though the upper rung turned the coil on. I was under the impression that once a PLC had logical continuity all the way across the rung it didn't check any more branches, in order to be efficient with scan time. Am I correct in my understanding?
No that is incorrect. A PLC is going to execute instructions in the exact same methodical order whether the logic is true or not. If there are 20 branch levels and the 2nd one is true, it is still going to scan each branch one by one.

And is this to save your clients from having to purchase the full pricey A/B software for training purposes?

Hi Anthony. This is the software for the Micro800 line of Allen Bradley PLCs. Which PLC line you should purchase will depend on your particular situation but if you are just trying to learn about AB PLCs in general then I would probably recommend the Micro800 line.
AB software isn't necessarily as pricey as everyone claims as long as you know what software you need. The low end version of Studio 5000 is less that $1,000.

I thought this was called a latch circuit!
Latch is typically associated with the SET RESET instruction.
The old man that taught me: Can you draw me a schematic for a 3-wire start/stop circuit?
Me: What is a 3-wire start-stop?
The old man that taught me: The most important circuit you are ever going to learn. You will use it, or some incarnation of it for the rest of your career.
Then he drew out the circuit and we went to different buckets in the MCC's and traced the wiring out to the field with the schematic.
