The song dates from 1990. The Warsaw Pact collapsed and the Cold War was over. It was a time of hope that this world could become better and more peaceful and people could live together like brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, everything then developed differently. But when I think back to that time, I still get a few tears in my eyes.

I hope you do more Scorpions with their huge catalog of hits and bangers - The Zoo and Holiday are two regulars for me. I saw them twice live, the Blackout tour was nuts!

This was about the fall of the Berlin Wall There are some images of the the First Gulf War about the same time that the Fall of the Berlin Wall The scorpions are a German band so this song had a lot of significance for our generation of the Cold War

The song wasn't about the fall of the wall.
The song was about the fall of the soviet union. The wall was in 89' the fall of the s.u was in 91' the lead singer was interviewed shortly after the invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦
On a German t.v program and said if he could he change the words of the song.
      I.e Gorky park.

Yes I’ll agree with that also. There were a lot of things that happened in that part of the world within a few years after I left Germany in 89. The fall of the wall was just one of them. It was IMO the start of the end of Cold War back then. I guess that is why I associate this song with that.

the scorpians are german and this was written right after the berlin wall fell and around the time germany reunified and the soviet union collapsed. they were optimistic at the time that we were headed to world piece.

I was an infant in the other side of the world when these things happened but we had our own version of these conflicts that started in the 60s and lasted until few years ago... With the few remaining factions just chilling but not totally neutralized as I type this.
This MV has always given goosebumps coz it reminds me of our own history.

The lead singer was interviewed shorty after the invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦 and said if he could he would change the wording of this song. This song is about the fall of the soviet union in 91' not the fall of the Berlin wall as some think. It was a great time for the world. For a moment we all got to breath. I miss those day's. Great vid family.
    Peace to you and yours.

The very first time I heard this was while watching a Filipino cover band in Singapore. I had been at sea so didn't get to hear it before that. LOVE Scorpions.
I rock with them, but this my favorite song from them.

The Wall between Germany was due to the victory over Hitler...and the United States and Russia..spilt the country in half...that wall lasted till mid 1980s..a d Reagan and Gorbachev agreed enough was enough.
When it came down torn down by Germans seperated families, was huge! Think if North Korea and South Korea..did that today. The fall of the Wall was hope.

      @sarcasticconsultant378 ปีที่แล้ว

Nope. US and UK and France and Russia split the country into 4.
And the wall was due to the economical bleeding of eastern germany which was not an political attractive country to live/work in...
(after US and UK and France united the western zones of germany)

Maybe you should get out of your feelings & use your critical thinking!
Feelings are temporary. They change. This wasn't about your darn feelings! This was about the truth.
The truth is you were all up in your darn feelings and couldn't see the truth/real footage in this video to know what the hay was happening!
You were too busy worrying about how it made you feel!
It was a very significant event in history! The song was written about it. The Berlin wall came down for f### sakes!
If you had pulled your heads out of your own arse long enough to see past your own shite, your logical mind would have been asking questions instead of giving your 'what it means to me and my feelings' answers/analysis.
Additionally, my comment would have convicted your ignorance & if you had already found out what the song meant, your reply to me would have been something like, " I know right? We found out after & now we are directed towards learning more about these things", or something adult like that.
But nooooo.....You can't handle correction because you're still up your own arse in your pride/feelings!
I don't care about your feelings or mine.
I care about the truth & how ignorant & full of crap ppl are & wilfully stay, in the name of their prideful feelings.
Put it on a shelf if you won't get it. Maybe it will help you later.
Now go back to sleep & slumber with all the others, who are riding the emotionalism train, & believe your crap.
