  • Restoring a vintage Buflam camp stove can be a rewarding project, allowing you to bring a piece of outdoor cooking history back to life. Here's a general guide to help you get started on the restoration process:
    1. Assessment:
    - Inspect the stove thoroughly to identify any damage, missing parts, or areas that need special attention.
    - Take note of the materials used, such as metal, enamel, and any other components2.
    2. Cleaning:
    - Begin by removing dirt, rust, and old grime from the stove. A wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper can be useful for this task.
    - For stubborn rust, you may use a rust converter to neutralize it.
    - Soak removable parts in a mixture of warm water and mild soap to remove grease and dirt.
    3. Disassembly:
    - If possible, disassemble the stove into its individual components. This will make it easier to clean and restore each part.
    - Take pictures or make notes during disassembly to help you remember the correct order when putting it back together.
    4. Rust Removal:
    - Use rust remover or a vinegar solution to remove rust from metal parts. Be cautious with enamel parts, as harsh chemicals can damage the finish.
    - Consider using a rust inhibitor or a clear protective coating on metal surfaces to prevent future rusting.
    *5. Enamel Restoration:*
    - If the stove has enamel parts, use a gentle enamel cleaner to restore the finish. Be careful not to scratch or damage the enamel during cleaning.
    - Polish enamel surfaces to bring back their shine.
    6. Replacement Parts:
    - If there are missing or irreparably damaged parts, check if replacements are available. You may find vintage stove parts online or consider fabricating replacements if necessary.
    7. Paint Touch-Up:
    - If the stove has painted surfaces, use heat-resistant paint to touch up any scratches or areas where the paint has worn off.
    - Clean the surface thoroughly before applying paint.
    8. Reassembly:
    - Assemble the stove in the reverse order of disassembly. Use your notes or pictures to guide you.
    - Lubricate any moving parts with appropriate lubricants.
    9. Testing:
    - Before using the stove, perform a test run outdoors to ensure that it functions properly.
    - Check for leaks around the stove. Test it in a well-ventilated area.
    10. Display or Use:
    - Once the restoration is complete and the stove is fully functional, you can choose to display it as a vintage piece or use it for camping and outdoor cooking.
Always prioritize safety during the restoration process, especially if the stove involves gas or other potentially hazardous components. If you are unsure about any aspect of the restoration, seek guidance from experienced individuals or professionals.

Thanks for tuning in guys 👍 it's been a while I'm sorry. I have been busy insulating my work shop so I can survive this heat. Hopefully soon I might get back to something more regular.

I think you deliberately restore things that are pizza tray shaped .... Not sure about the cows... New neighbours ? always amazed how many parts there are when you show everything broken down .wish I could restore to this level of finish , genuinely enjoy every moment of your videos . Way better than those other channels that fake their items start condition . With you we get genuine resto / fix/ mend/ restore . Thanks for your honest restorations . Shell grit and super glue us for guitars ... Or is that noodles ? Need some magic bending gloves like yours . Love the green .... Wow what a transformation !!!!!

Thanks very much for all those very kind words Mr toolrestoration. I would have replaced the bottom but I'm out of pizza trays. Would have been far too tricky to bend all those shapes. Yes neighbour moved his cows while there was construction work happening. Sand and super glue, classic useless hack. Really glad to hear you enjoyed it. Those gloves are magic, that's how I get so much done lol. No fake restorations on this channel 👍
