Vintage Pesticide Fogger Restoration.

- Hello Folks today I am restoring this vintage fogger .
In the midst of my passion for collecting vintage machinery and equipment, I stumbled upon a hidden gem that would prove to be a challenge - a vintage fogger machine from a bygone era. Little did I know that this rusty relic would take me on a journey of discovery, restoration, and a newfound appreciation for craftsmanship.
The Discovery:
It all began with a chance visit to an old, abandoned farmstead. As I explored the decaying outbuildings and overgrown fields, my eyes fell upon a peculiar machine covered in layers of dust and cobwebs. With its weathered appearance, it was clear that I had found something special. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a vintage fogger machine, likely from the early 20th century, used for pest control in orchards and farms.
As I began to disassemble the fogger, it became evident that the aluminium body had not aged gracefully. Decades of exposure to the elements had left it riddled with holes and corroded patches. It was a disheartening sight, but I was determined to bring this piece of history back to its former glory.
The next step was to address the holes in the aluminium body. This involved welding and patching, a delicate process that required a steady hand and an eye for detail.
Once the body was restored, attention turned to the inner workings. I meticulously cleaned, repaired, and refurbished each component, from the pumps and nozzles to the intricate brass fittings. It was a process that demanded patience and a deep understanding of vintage machinery.
After a months of dedicated effort and countless hours of labour, the vintage fogger machine stood before me in all its glory. Its aluminium body, once marred by holes and corrosion, now gleamed with pride, restored to its original splendour.

Hello, my friend. Brilliant restaurant.👍👏
Hey thanks very much for watching my friend 👍👍👍
Sound of it's working is exactly like my 1961 soviet vacuum cleaner. :D
Lol that's funny, I can only imagine 😅
After 30 seconds or so I realized that after your superior talent the the thing I love about your videos is lack of fore play. You dig in with elbows flying. I don't need 37 camera angles. I want restoration. You give me that. Thank you.😊😊
Well thank you Brett, that's very kind of you to say. Who have you been watching with 37 camera angles lol ? Please check out some of my later projects when you have the time like this one. th-cam.com/video/MLdA117iXN0/w-d-xo.html
Perfect job
Hello Ruti, haven't heard from you in a long while. Thanks for watching.
Holy Hell!! Completely blown away with this restoration! The buffing alone must have taken hours. Once again you have brought us a phenomenal video.
Thanks buddy much appreciated. I picked this project thinking it should be a quick one. I was so wrong
Heck it was just a screwdriver, but thanks for the excellent comment.
@@Dalesworkshop ? ?
Sorry I got the comments mixed up.@@Austeration
@@Dalesworkshop I figured lol I was thinking screwdriver what screwdriver 🤣👍

I recommend using rust converter on any sort of tank or anything that must hold liquid. Saves you from thinning the walls and causing holes via rust removal. You can paint right over the hardened rust after the rust converter dries.
Cheers Charles 👍 I didn't think of that. I mainly wanted to just remove any old chemical residue from the tank. I'll remember that one for next time 👍👍👍👍
@@Austeration Excellent restoration, FYI. 👍 I only know about the rust converter after restoring a honey extractor years ago.
@@charlesdebarber2997 that sounds like a fun job. I don't even know what that looks like.
Just WOW!
Thanks Vic 👍

Thanks for watching. Can I ask if the subtitles showed up for you in this video ? ?
Spectacular result buddy. That low melting point alloy is amazing. You literally cannot see the repair.
Thanks very much shed man. I know right, I was completely blown away by the result. I figured I would see a colour change or something but there was nothing.
Very good chance of having DDT in it so I really hope you used a mask restoring it!!!
It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thanks buddy. Yes I wouldn't have been surprised if it did. Yes had the mask and everything on for this one. Thanks for your concern. I liked your message so I gave it a Thumbs up also 🤣
I love this video so much
Thank you very very much. Why do you love it so much ?
@@Austeration
Because the work is meticulous and the photography is wonderful and not boring

The design of the device is great my friend and you have masterfully brought it back to its first days 👌
Thanks very much, this one was a challenge that's for sure
Wow what a great repair job on the ally. I was thinking JB weld or similar given the age and oxide etc. But well done and a great result.
Cheers Garry, I thought you had seen this one already. After you mentioned about being a welder I thought you would have picked this one to pieces lol. I was well impressed with those rods in the end, couldn't find the patches after it was all cleaned up.
I hadn't seen this one actually, I would never pick anyones work to pieces. I have found old oxidised ally really hard to work on with a tig or a mig actually. So from my perspective well done.@@Austeration
@@garrylearmonth9313 I was almost going to ask the other day. This was my first time doing this type of repair. It was a nightmare to start with.
Changing to the MAPP gas was a good move and when in a couple of places the ally, slumped a little "it raised my heart rate" lol I thought u had lost it. But a great outcome. I haven't fired up a welder for years, almost seems like a lifetime ago now lol @@Austeration
@@garrylearmonth9313 I know right, when I spotted it moving I thought I'm done for. Almost had to buy 10 tubes of JB weld 🤣
Finally i can sit back relax and enjoy your art work..and its really worth it😊
Aww thanks. Glad your finally getting to relax, sounds like you have been busy ?

Great work on that mate...
Thanks Brian, always appreciated. Sorry I haven't had a chance to watch your latest video yet. I will be doing that shortly now.
Thats OK mate..
Wooo, nice and shiny, cracking work👍👍
Why thank you very much for that 👍
May want to try some aluminum Flux for low temp. I have had some good luck with the stuff. Good looking job.
Cheers Mike I had never used these rods before. I got all my training watching a TH-cam clip, they made It look easy with no flux. Thanks for watching and leaving me a tip 👍👍👍
Beautiful Work as usual Aust! 👍👍
Thank you very much my friend. Always good to hear from you 👍 Much appreciated.
As always fan'bloody'tastic love thecfact that every video has differnt techniques , shots ideas and approaches on things , such a genuine restorer ! Ps does Mrs T know you're using her mug ??
Thanks buddy 👍 you will need to zoom in on the fine print on the bottom of the mug to see what it said 🤣 plus if it's in the shed I figure it's mine to use
Bloody hell I hope you wore a respirator while on the lathe. Nice work!
Yes I did, thanks for checking. Glad I had my gloves on also. Very messy work. Thanks for watching 👍
Man this restoration is just next level. Fantastic work from every angle. You are a real genius at coming up with ways to fix things. Well done 👏 👏👏
Thanks very much buddy, that's very kind of you to say. Not sure about genius though I just make shit up lol
Класс 👏👏👏👏👏
Can I ask if the subtitles came up translated for you ? 👍👍👍👍👍

That’s fogging amazing!
Fogging right it is 🤣 thanks very much for that. That's was so funny it made me laugh, great comment.
Brilliant performance
Thanks Menino, glad you enjoyed it 😊
Fantastic restoration now i want one looks so cool 😊
You should get one for sure Richard 👍
Too shiny, now we know your face. 😂😅
It looks like a death ray machine from the 50's. The design is gorgeous and your work is flawless as always.
It's always pleasing to watch your videos and I learn something new every time.
Thanks LTMS I was trying to hide but it was very tricky. I learn something new every time also. That aluminium brazing was not much fun and I was surprised that broken piece held up as well as it has. 👍
Nice work as always. That looks real good after renovation 👏👏
Cheers Masi, always appreciate your comments 👍
It looks really. great. When you welded with the aluminum rod it didn't appear you had to use any flux, is that right? Thats a good restoration from rags to riches,.
That is correct, your suppose to just heat up the area and not the rod. I had a lot of trouble getting it hot enough but the end result was pretty amazing. You couldn't even see or tell that it had any holes in it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Well done !
Hey thanks very much for that. Did you see my previous project at all ? th-cam.com/video/W5dWY1hQB7g/w-d-xo.html

Beautiful finished project! What do you use in your blast cabinet? With all the rust and other stuff how often do you have to change it?
Thanks for watching Boss man. I use Garnett in my cabinet. I have never changed it, I just keep topping it up. Once I removed it all to try andremove all the fine dust from it but that's about it.
Fabulous! Out of curiosity, what is the machine making the fog from? Atmospheric moisture, or is there some other process?
Thank you Artemis. I'm no expert on this one but I believe the fan blowing out the back is creating a suction from the tank up to the spout.
I filled the pot with water
Where did you find that mug? I need one. 17:47
I'm not sure Kent, I think it was an old fathers day gift. If you zoom in, it has something else at the bottom 😁
I saw that. That's why I need it.
@@KentRedford213 where do you live? Have you tried to do a search for one.
I live in the USA, in Utah. I searched for it immediately after I saw it on the video and got bupkis in the results. 🤷♂️
@@KentRedford213oh pity you didn't live in Australia I would have just sent it to you. I'll see if it has any markings on it or a brand and get back to you.
Kam šitas daiktas skirtas?!
Thanks for watching. Did you read the description at all ? It's for getting rid of insects
What is it what I want to know
I don't know what do you want to know ?
That's it fogger or smoke machine. Lay.s down Chemical have they fog or smoke
Fog or a mist really. It draws the water and chemical up from the bottom tank and blows it out the back. No smoke as it has no heating element in side. Hope that explains it better.
This maschine works noisy
Is it not suppose to be noisy ? It's not a fan
The motor with its vacuum fan in the back of this “fogger” head - a more modern variant is found in a vacuum cleaner, so this is as loud as a vacuum cleaner ~ though this has no sound insulation inside it, with a vacuum they do put some insulation in them to try to make them a bit quieter
@@samuelfellows6923 well said Sam, thank you 👍

Thanks for watching Busty. Have you ever worked with Aluminium before? It's a grubby job
ヴィンテージはいいとしても、そもそもフォガーとは…用途の想像が全くつかない代物である。映像の終盤を観た限り、スプリンクラー的な物だろうか。
Thank you for watching. This machine would be filled with pesticide and placed either in homes or spaces that contained insects or other infestations.
Not a sprinkler at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks for watching. NOX ? Have you done this sort of work before ? The trick is to not get it too hot. Even with the Map gas it started to melt the tank in some spots.
