- The neighbors were doing some cleaning in the basement and did not believe that this cabinet could regain its former glory. The intention was to preserve the original materials as much as possible and at the lowest possible price.
While doing the work, we found a small treasure in an unseen place.

I love the restoration you did not painting the piece but saving the beauty of wood. Great job. Thank you for the video
I don't like painting wood, I prefer its natural look. Every time I try to find the best potential for a piece of furniture. Sometimes it works ;) Thanks!
absolutely beautiful transformation-I think the original maker would be proud to know this piece is still so beautiful
Nice to hear that🙂 Thank you!
Absolutely worth saving. Please note this is not a criticism, but a question... have you considered using pegs instead of nails? Nails tend to work themselves loose or out over time, while well glued pegs are period to piece's construction and will strengthen the bottom just as your adding chunks with glue on other parts of bottom.
I didn't think about it during the renovation, but I think you're right. We don't get to reconstruct such elements often, but I will definitely consider your solution in the future. Thanks for leaving a comment and advice :)
Maybe horseshoe-type nails? Old nails kind of resemble those. I really thought that old bottle was going to turn out to be a laudanum one.
Square/cut nails literally cut the wood because they have 4 sharp distinct sides with sharp edges. A modern nail pushes into the wood & displaces it because it is round & smooth. This is why antique nails do less damage than modern nails. Modern horseshoe nails are similar in look to square nails, but are still pretty smooth. They do make thinner ones that would displace less wood, but not sure if they are better than round nails. It's a good question.
Good tip. I will look around for the nails you mentioned and try them out at the next opportunity.
❤
You kept it's "history" but enabled it to be used for more years to come. The true meaning of restoration! Wonderful work!
Thanks🙂
Wow! What a difference! You gave that piece more decades of life!
Thanks! 🙂
This restoration was GREAT! 👏👏👏 all the way from Poconos PA. ❤
This is one of the most incredible transformations I’ve ever seen. Just beautiful ! Great work !
Love your detailed work. Drawer corners to perfection, polishing with oil, the feet, not flattening the beautiful curve of the top edge. They just don't make quality like this anymore.
Thank you very much for kind words. Period furniture has its own charm. It's always hard to give them away after renovation :)
A piece worth owning! Excellent!
I love a little helper appearing time to time 🤭
I also recently read an advice about drilling a hole for the nail with the nail itself (clip off the head first) so that it doesn’t remove the fibers and with time they puff up and hold the nail stronger!
Thank you for feedback and advice!
I think you were very wise to hand sand and scrape whenever possible. The result is superior to power tools, and shows in your excellent result!
Thanks for appreciating my work 🙂
Great to see the beautiful grain appear.
I watch lots of furniture restoration. You're by far the best video videographor. And the quality of your work is stellar. Definitely look forward to more.
Thank you very much for these words! This is a great motivation for further work😊
It looks beautiful and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!!
I enjoyed your video so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you for your kind words and giving me a thumbs up 🙂
The work you do goes beyond restoration, and how to bring to life something that has been forgotten in time. Congratulations on the beautiful work and keep it up. A hug straight from Brazil
Thank you 🙂
New sub here......just keep on going like this, “restoring” to the natural beauty. Love the grain on that door and drawer; great job patching the drawer molding!
Beautiful.
I envy your patience and your attention to detail. You're my hero.
Great job! But the black nail polish was somewhat distracting...😋
Gloves sometimes make work difficult. Regards :)

I did some rearranging, decorating with Goodwill things and a few wooden pieces out of the garage , cleaning my room,I got a few cheap wooden pieces I can stack, we both have a room for crafts, starting seeds and our bedroom. I made 2 salads (apple salad and chicken dip). Today I'm going through papers to shred, I got that Gracie dog 5lbs of sweet potatoes in the dehydrator that Wes cut up that Wes picked up Saturday when his daughter took him with her to pick up her order at Wal-Mart. There's always markdowns to look at. I hope you had a great weekend but it seems like there is no time when there's garden growing. My daughter is coming 3/9 for our grandchild's wedding and hopefully she gets to bring her only grandchild. It's in Indiana and we live in Illinois 40 minutes from there.
Complimenti ...hai fatto un buon restauro ...sicuramente potrai migliorare perché hai le capacità per diventare una professionista...se ti posso dare un consiglio da collega ...cerca di essere sempre curiosa e mettiti sempre alla prova . Buon lavoro .Paolo dell'Italia 😊

Thank you so much!
Fantastic transformation.
Glad you like it! Thanks :)
Beautiful restoration!
I like the way you pick an area or a side and then proceed to show us how you repaired it.
You taught me a few things along the way too.
In the end, I hope you had fun.
You will never please everyone, so, do it how you like.
Some folks like puppies or kittens, others like "hippopotamuses". Do it your way, including any fingernail polish color you want.
Stay curious, keep up the good work and good luck with YOUR channel.
Thank you for your inspiring comment. Regards!🙂

Nice you managed to bring it back as it was pretty far gone 👍
Did you apply any woodworm treatment or were they also far gone ?
Luckily, I didn't find any woodworm during renovation - this made things a bit easier :) Thank you 🙂
