Great video! Just a little information for everyone: The 3 holes in the base are for bolts, nuts and hollow rubber feet., for sitting on a table, or leave them off, and use the holes for mounting on a wall or ceiling. This fan was originally mounted to the ceiling, or high up on a wall somewhere. They are missing, and the center medallion was "upside down" in the first of the video for it to be sitting on the table. Thats also why the center tag is so clean on the base. It probably spent most of its life against a wall or ceiling.

I love a fan restore . I have a fan from 1948!!!!! Works just fine after i fixed it up! TysyTube Restoration great work! Subbed! I just wanted to add two things. If you punch things like felt, cork, rubber or other malleable materials it will happen on the first strike with your punch if you use a surface with give for the punch to cut through all the way. Layered cardboard, softwoods, anything that will allow it to punch through cleanly. That anvil will also dull and eventually mushroom the cutting rim. The fan guard (yeah looks real safe haha) was powder coated or ceramic coated originally just like the base. You can easily do this especially with small objects and for cheap too. The powder coating guns and setup can be gotten at harbor freight and the powders are cheap online or locally at a large coating facility that often toss out barrels of the stuff when they change to a new product run and don’t have storage space. For the heating element you can use a toaster oven or a kitchen oven from Craigslist. If you’re really feeling ambitious you can do what I did years ago and get an old freezer off the side of the road and gut it. Then place the heating elements from an old oven on the top and bottom. The oven controls are easy enough to wire outside on the side or door. The only thing I’d probably do differently is remove the stock insulation and put something high temp instead because the stock stuff smoked and stuff lol. It stopped eventually and the outer steel skin never got too hot to cause an issue but it would be nice to feel more comfortable with what the insulation is lol.

great job 😀. I really liked the contrast of the silver blades with the dark body and the dark protection grid. that contradictory that a fan has the mark "HEAT" 😂.
I think that the paint on the blades was added somewhere during the life of the blade. Notice how it accumulated a lot of grime - seems to me it was some incorrectly-chose "what they had at hand" paint, probably it was used in a sunny-side room and the blades caught a lot of sun reflections, so the owner just went and painted it in the color of the bakelite. The way it was so easy to peel off - looks like it was like a wall paint. What do you think? I wonder if the author could shed some light, but I never saw painted blades before that. Either plastic or bare metal.
Lol-the same thing happened when I restored *both* my 1920s Westinghouse and Hunter table fans. After several hours spent working on each, rewiring and all, they wouldn’t turn on! One of them even kinda kicked back some sparks at first so I unplugged it, used a few expletives, and went inside for the night. The next morning I realized I’d made an amateur electrical mistake and reverse connected the wiring to the stator. 🤦🏻♂️ Easy fix, and now I have two fans that work better on their lowest setting than any modern bought fan works on its highest. Love your videos Tysy, and your bunny slippers. 😆
Such hard work and dedication deserves waay more subs! And people who say you aren’t ‘preserving the history’ obviously don’t realize that you’re restoring these historical items.

Me at the people saying ur destroying history by restoring history....uhmmm....but why...bc a video where you show us a really old fan is one thing but a video where you take apart clean paint and put back together and make work again is a much better way of appreciating the history imo
Agreed. If I ever had time to do stuff like this I would furnish my entire house with restored antiques, and not feel guilty in the slightest for making a thing or two more modern or safer to ensure it lasts even longer than it did the first time.
I was so glad to see you discard that old cord. The insulation was cracked and it was a potential lethal problem, it could have electrocuted someone or caused a fire. The new cord you used doesn't look like the typical zip cord, it looks more period correct for the fan. Great job.
@@TysyTube I totally agree. There is too much use of rubbish music on everything. By not using music your films are elevated to "works of art". Love them all. Well done.
A safer alternative to using electrical tape the entire length of the cord, try using shrink tubing that is the same length of the cord.Throwing the original cord away;and replacing it with a brand new one,was a better option;now you are less likely to have a short circuit occurring resulting in the fan catching on fire. One less fire hazard for a potential customer to have to worry about.

I love these fans of bakelite and metal , they're very decorative and beautiful.
Such hard work and dedication deserves waay more subs!
And people who say you aren’t ‘preserving the history’ obviously don’t realize that you’re restoring these historical items.
History of the fan = "it blew clean air.... With asbestos"
Asbestos is ok until it breaks down
@@chloexianah3070 well noooo
It's called a joke have you grasped the concept yet

You have proved again you are the king of restoration video! Well done fan. I was horrified you were going to black tape the old wire. You crown was slipping. Good joke
I watch you every day and can't get enough. Gold standard again.
I like it, the hand motion reminded me of Thing from the Adams Family. Also the bunny slipper was classic.
4:30) I love the bunny slippers, they make me laugh every time
Eliza Wilson they are butiumus right?

Nice restoration. And you have my full support on replacing the cord!
I really love the minor details/sense of humour. Definitely watching this!
Perfection with the mouse slipper!
When I was young, I'd take apart my toys and try to figure out how they worked then cry to my mom or dad because I broke it
I had a crawling toddler doll. My brother told me I can make the doll walk. I was so excited to see the doll grow up. He broke it of course !!!!
I love the new background sign
thank you so much 😊
I like this guy very much,he is inventive, smart and....funny. The mouseslippers, the cable, the message on the bin.😂😂😂 I watch every video, makes me relax and...learning. Keep it up bro!!!!
Baaaahaaaa..."Looks like new but with history inside". That was funny...Don't listen to them. Another great re-store that I have come to expect. Looking forward to the next one.
thank you so much 😊
15:00 made me laugh, nice to see you smiling!
🤣🤣🤣🤷♂️😁
The face of a man who takes pride in his work!
Another top notch restoration! 👍 I’m so glad you replaced that cable. I thought you were serious for a second 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
History begins now! I think I found my new favorite channel. 🙌🏻👍👍👍
Great Resto. I highly recommend to use a heatgun to shrink that shrinking tube. It make a cleaner job.
i will buy one
A kitchen match works very well too.
A hairdryer from the second-hand store set to high will shrink heat shrink tubing very well. Cost? $3 in Ohio at junk store.
@@scottgoodman8993 but the match leave soot on the shrink. the hair dryer is a better suggestion :)
Yes, soot may be emitted from the match :(
Congratulations and thank you for watching your videos, you made my day more beautiful!
Me at the people saying ur destroying history by restoring history....uhmmm....but why...bc a video where you show us a really old fan is one thing but a video where you take apart clean paint and put back together and make work again is a much better way of appreciating the history imo
Delusional people would think that restoring history is a way to destroy history.
I see this with antique firearms restorations. "You're destroying the patina!" "No, I'm removing the rust so this lasts another hundred years."
Agreed. If I ever had time to do stuff like this I would furnish my entire house with restored antiques, and not feel guilty in the slightest for making a thing or two more modern or safer to ensure it lasts even longer than it did the first time.
ok, the mouse slippers convinced me. you are now my number 1 favorite restorator! you just passed my mechanic!
You forgot to put in the circuit board and wifi
Fans don't need wifi or cricut boards

Hahahahahaha 😂 for a moment I really thought that he would use that old cable and full of tape, is he crazy? Good joke bro!! 👍🏻
I was so glad to see you discard that old cord. The insulation was cracked and it was a potential lethal problem, it could have electrocuted someone or caused a fire. The new cord you used doesn't look like the typical zip cord, it looks more period correct for the fan. Great job.
What did you fix to get it to work at the end? Or was it just not plugged in before?
I want to know too!!!
Me too !
👀
He just didnt plug it in, it was a joke
I wish he painted the fan blsde the red like the original
me too
Same
Same
But chrome is more retro
That copper paint was beautiful, he should have made it the same
Dont use music,we like that start sound when ruined part hits the table.😎👍
🤣🤷♂️ok
@@TysyTube I totally agree. There is too much use of rubbish music on everything. By not using music your films are elevated to "works of art". Love them all. Well done.
I do like "no music" videos too....
How I love things, which are made of bakelite! They are very sweet!

I thought that too lol
Yes, you are. But so are the rest of us....😉
Lol, i thought the same thing... 😂
I thought he jeweled the blades too. It would have looked pretty awesome.
Ok...you had me for a minute with the cable. But only for a minute......
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Without your comment, I think I would have been very worried about wiring for 2 minutes!
It's pleasure to see your restoration works 🤗🤗💕💕
Gosto do seu trabalho!
Muito bom!
Você tem o espírito de renovação!
Parabéns pelo seu dom!!!
I was so bummed at first when I saw the fan not work. Nice one ;)
That cable was a REAL plot twist, great job!
Your videos are so relaxing to me, wow it’s so amazing the way you restore antiques !!
