I'm waiting on my blaster kit for my 3000psi 2.5gpm pressure washer, and was going to use a $10 kiddie pool with some plastic/tarps to contain the water an media runoff for potentially future media reuse. Would be really interesting if I could put a small pump in the pool to keep the water/sand mixed and then just drop the sand input tube into the pool and just not worry about clogging or adding sand.
It works pretty well for sure as long as you use nice strong tube that doesn’t squash. Been using airline tube for a current project and did the job well. Stripped of 4 layers of paint much faster than I’d ever have done it with a grinder/flap wheel!
Just further to my comment regarding clogging at the "Y" junction... I found that ditching the hose that this unit comes with and using 15mm BUTELINE pipe (the plastic replacement the plumbers use rather than copper pipe) works really well and it fits both ends like a glove. The other pipe kinks and flow is up and down.
Update: So... I also just tried blasting into a kids pool and simply recirculating the slurry to blast by mixing up some sand and water and putting the end of the sand blast supply into the pool. There's enough suction from the venturi effect but the water/sand hose is too flexible and simply crushes from the suction. I'm guessing a stiffer medium delivery hose and some pump assistance would do the trick for a large scale outdoor vapour blaster! The interesting effect is that the agitation of the water coming back into the pool keeps the sand and water mixed stirred so may work quite well.
Yeah that's always the big shitty about blasting is the dust goes everywhere, the great thing is on our land there's a spot where there's a vein of pure sand that I could use at total loss in your system, gonna totally give this a try, thanks bud.
I’ve switched to a thick non crushable airline hose for the sand and that works better. Dry sand is the go or if using a slurry mix of sand and water keeping the slurry moving by using a cheap Ozitto watet pump helps too. Still better than dry sand blasting cos it’s so much better to keep the sand in one place with no dust.
thank you. eBay and Amazon are good ones www.amazon.com.au/s?k=karcher+adapter&adgrpid=93881990864&gclid=Cj0KCQiAmL-ABhDFARIsAKywVafGrXjk9NVjeS64HXGa3FzSJl5hCMj5tgM7LRV49TK7YHgG-P3jIIgaAkOFEALw_wcB&hvadid=414047839871&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1000567&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=11096800596382498337&hvtargid=kwd-6837127293&hydadcr=22640_33343&tag=googhydr0au-22&ref=pd_sl_tlk79qvs9_e
yeah works great hey! I did the rest in one of those kids clams/sandpits for $10 or so then recovered a lot of sand. Next I'll do the wheels, engine parts then onto the Bike! I'm thinking if I run the sand line into the wastewater/slurry/sand mix and keep it agitated and maybe elevated, I should be able to circulate that through like is done with Vapour blasting cabinets?
Yeah if you were set up up on a flat deck trailer and the pump was down bellow and you had a spigot in the pool draining down a hose back into the pump but I don't think yer pump would last long..... Scratch that, duff idea.
PIPER DOUG a dirty water pump would be ok. That’s what they use in vapour blasting cabinets. That’s probably why I’ll try next to feed the sand and water mix into the gun too. In my case, my air compressor does not have enough volume to supply the air hence the high pressure washer idea.
yes. It just needs to be dried properly so if you use kids play sand, you need to spread it out under the sun or a heat lamp to dry it thoroughly or it won't flow through the tube.
Kiln dried sand. Not kids play sand as it’s too wet. You can poor the wet sand into a hot driveway to dry it out and then sieve it to make sure there are no rocks but works out more expensive usually anyway.
Search for a blasting supply company in your area and use proper blasting media. Silica in sand is hazardous to your health and blasting media isn't all that expensive
Hi mate, I've the very same blaster attachment... the problem I get is water making it's way up the "Y" junction and causing the sand to become wet and clogging the flow. Do you get this problem? I'm using a 3000psi washer.
Do it on a warm day to speed up the drying or/and blow the remaining water off with an air gun, paint stripping gun or hair drier. You can then wipe it down with deoxidine. Once dry, you can rough it up with steel wool then give it a spray with epoxy etch primer.
I had that too. Elevate the sand source above the height of the basting tube so some gravity helps. You can also try stiffer, better quality garden hose for the sand delivery so it doesn’t crush with the suction pressure. I have also tried a kids wading pool with sand in there to make a slurry. I then used a dirty water pump ($50 or so) to pump the slurry mix into the nozzle so the sand is premixed with water as it enters the blasting nozzle.
@@onomatopoeidia thank you for answering quickly and honestly. Second one, how is the damage wise wet blasting (sand)? i know dry sand blasting sometimes eat the material so may be it is different on wet.
@@ertandx5362 It's actually very gentle. It won't remove bad rust so really only good for removing paint and gives a nice finish for aluminium parts too like cast throttle bodies.
yes. Needs to be dry and strained. Playsand is often quite moist out of the pack so tip it on a hot concrete floor etc and spread it out to dry then strain and use.
no dust in the air but watter everywhere, but yes it's healthier. But metal doesn't like water so it'll rust very quick with water sand blasting. It's good to have both depending of what we want to do.

That looks like it works pretty slick! I’m going to give that a try on my next project.👍

that's great to know Christian! I was looking for another, strong pipe myself.

Refer to my last comment and this may help with the "too flexible and crush problem".
Got damn, that works really well, and no dust !!
Yes it’s very effective but you need to dry it quickly then use dexodiser and epoxy it to protect the bare metal.
Yeah that's always the big shitty about blasting is the dust goes everywhere, the great thing is on our land there's a spot where there's a vein of pure sand that I could use at total loss in your system, gonna totally give this a try, thanks bud.
this is brilliant mate!!!! hats off 👍
thank you. It really does work well. I used it to blast paint off a wall too. Perfect.
How did the pot work? Any inconsistencies in sand feeding?

Top video dude ,
Just what my Torana needs
Might try it with some paint stripper first ,should be pretty easy job
Amazing Innovative Concept! Appreciate your video! Where can I buy that connection tip, and will it fit Karcher pressure washers?

Where do I get one for a petrol pressure washer not nilfisk connection just a quick connect type fitting
Try Amazon?
Great vid Simon I will look at getting one of those. Should look at blasting the item in a container and recover your sand maybe.

Finally..thx
Just curious about using a bigger hose
Izky Tama also possible yes, a better quality one that doesn’t crush easily would be ideal.
great video - I have a karcher k3 , I don't suppose that lance is universal and would work on the Karcher?
where did you buy it ?
Sammy thanks. Yes you need #5 for the Kaercher. See links in the description.
Have you used a heat gun (paint stripper ) to dry the surface as soon as possible after to minimize rust?
yes but it will still start to rust pretty quickly. Dry it then use some steel wool then wipe with some deoxit to halt the surface rusting.
Can normal sand be used?
yes. It just needs to be dried properly so if you use kids play sand, you need to spread it out under the sun or a heat lamp to dry it thoroughly or it won't flow through the tube.
Thanks for the vid and links.
you're welcome.
How does it work on the outside of a car or truck ?
zane lile works on any surface. I’ve also had success removing oil and paint from concrete and wood fences.
What sand do you recommend

yes I have had that. I elevated the sand and also used an airline to blow out the line every ten minutes or so just to keep it clean and dry.
If the steel is blasted and is bare of paint how do you stop flash rust if its a wet blasting system

how to order nilfisk connector im in the philippines and how much the price
Nilfisk is the same as the Gerni. I don't sell them, please follow the link in the description to eBay.
What is the power of this water pressure machine, can i do it with a pressure machine of 120 bar?
This is a Gerni 130.3 Max 130 BAR 1,885 PSI. It will just take longer with less pressure.
Thanks for the insight...
Links are not working...
yeah, can't keep up with the changes. Simply search eBay or Amazon.
Hi, could you update the 3 eBay links please. They don’t work
When I get a chance but until then, just do a Google search. That's all I did.
For example:
www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2510209.m570.l1313&_nkw=gerni+sandblasting+attachment&_sacat=0
I am finding that the sand is stopping all the time. The sand is super dry but never seems to have a constant flow. Any tips

@@onomatopoeidia Worked better today after me doing that Thanks
Nice video mate. Have you tried to do Soda Blasting through pressure washer?
Yes but not as effective I found.

Monoï rubbing down with deoxidizer and steel wool and blowing the water off does the trick. Still much safer and effective for me than sand alone.
