    Aweseome! My adult son and I just "bought" our first car together two weeks ago... it will be the first car we've had in NINE years! We have no garage at the apartment we live in, and had to park it on the street last night. Someone disturbed person decided to hammer the driver's side mirror last night. NOW, thanks to you, it's a non-issue. I got a hair dryer, we can get that adhesive, all I gotta do is follow your directions - including getting a good quality mirror - and we be happy again! Thank you SO MUCH!

    I just installed a new mirror glass in my wife's 1998 Jeep following your instructions. Oh my gosh! That was EASY! I bought the glass several months ago (from another vendor) expecting it to come with instructions. The instructions were useless. Nothing about removing the old glass. I searched the internet and couldn't find anything until I stumbled on to your video. I said it: this is some kind of big secret. I don't get it at all but, Who Cares? You gave a wonderful step by step, including letting the heat soak in before working on removal. When I need another glass for a mirror, I will be looking to your company first. I believe in supporting the folks who support me and you Really Helped me out!

    I just used the information here to take a mirror (only) out of a Toyota Corolla passenger side mirror "assembly", remove the broken passenger side mirror from my 2012 Scion XB, and install the identical Corolla mirror. Fits perfectly and this video made it happen better and FASTER! Thanks

      Yes. There were a few interchangeable parts from other MAKE and MODEL cars. Example was the Scion and the Corolla. Others were the Mercury Villager and the Nissan Quest. Reason?. Both Manufactures designed the vehicle together. Thus the same vehicle. Its rare but it does happen.

      @@raytheglass I looked for a replacement mirror on the web and found one that described what cars the mirror would work with. With that info I went to a local auto recycler and found the mirror on an included Toyota Corolla. So I didn't need to buy a - more expensive - prepackaged replacement mirror.

      I replaced a mirror before in a corolla 2015. no heat - nothing. It just snapped in. Not sure why did you have to use heat on a corolla? Thought this maybe for a Honda.

    I spoke to Ray- he's so helpful and friendly!! He walked me through the process. Was very kind. Months later, I hit a trashcan again and broke my mirror again, this time the heating element came off too. Ray spent time showing me how to glue the heating element back and then the mirror too. He told me to take off the two heating wires and wrap with electrical tape if I had to take the heating element is broken. Great customer service- LOVE buying American products with American customer service. Mirror was clear and exhausted.

As 90 percent of all the stuff sold on there is made in China, etc. I wonder how much people would pay for me to be their Auto Glass Educator.

    Ray was so helpful in getting me the right outside mirror for my 2000 Grand Prix GT. He was even more helpful after I called back and said I dropped the first mirror on my driveway!!! So I ordered a second mirror. And I made sure this one wouldn't break so I installed it over my front yard! But while I was talking to Ray I found out I could also get a rearview mirror to glue over the original mirror because it has gone dark. Had some fun conversations with him both times. I was thinking he would be a great neighbor to hang out with!!! Party on Ray!!!

    Thankyou so much for a clear concise easy to understand video. I cracked the glass on my new 2022 dodge charger and the had absolutely no replacement with the glass amd the fram. I either had to spend hundreds to replace the entire mirror housing whole 9 yards or just the glass and at the time even that was difficult to find. So thankyou

      Did you buy the replacement glass from US?

    • @pokerpunk9413
      @pokerpunk9413 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @raytheglass actually no... ebay. They are finally coming out with after market parts with just the glass and replacement components attached without having to buy the entire replacement rear view mirror body and everything that physically attaches to the car it self but for some reason that's cheaper than just then replacement mirror that is not just the mirror itself. I was looking for the replacement piece that was the mirror with the heater and lane assist all built in that u just connect and snap into the passenger side mirror housing that is connected to the actual car. But I bought the 2023 at the end of 22 and broke someone broke just the glass itself in a parking lot and NO ONE had the piece so I had to go w just replacing the "glass" only using the existing frame. If that makes any sence...

    Just used this as a guide to change the passenger mirror on my Subaru.
    This is a great guide, though for me it didn't exactly go like in the movies.
    After heating the glass, I noticed that the mirror was really tightly fit in the frame, and it was really tricky to get a knife under the glass. Luckily, the glass cracked more when I manhandled it and I managed to get a big piece out right from the middle. After that the whole thing came out easy.
    I didn't know if the car had heating pads, turns out it did. And I burned a bit of it. Looking at the frame, it didn't have a smooth surface, but the heating pad was glued to two pedestal with stickers, and the glass was glued to the heating pad. This is why the glass broke when I grabbed it, since it was only supported from two little places! I thought I'd reuse the heating pad and hope that it would still work, but the silicone I bought just wouldn't stick to it and it kept peeling out. In the end I scrapped it and just attached the mirror directly into the frame without the pad. There the silicone stuck well.
    However, I did get a silicone fingerprint on the glass. Any tips to get it off? Or will it slowly wear off? I live in a place with lots of rain, snow and freezing temperatures, so maybe it'll fade away with time.
    Lessons learned:
    - Check if your car has a heating element and buy a replacement beforehand
    - Don't make a mess with the silicone.
    But hey, not too bad for a first mirror repair.
    Greetings from Finland

    • @raytheglass
      @raytheglass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Best way to clean a silicone mess is to let it dry first. Then use a single edge razor an scrape it off. Make sure the razor is new or it will scratch..The remainder if any use again the nail polish remover. It should come right off. Then clean with Windex. Walla. Clean Mirror

    Hello enjoyed your video very much, i have a 2011 Toyota Avalon Passenger side mirror is all clouded up. I tried heating it assuming maybe it was a bad heater, no luck. So i purchased a Burco replacement glass Model #5440H so i have it but not sure if i am to break my current glass to remove or does this whole backing plate have to be removed?
    I would appreciate any help, i even went on the Toyota nation Forum but no definitive answers.
    I don't want to destroy the outside housing, by prying away if i don't need to. There seems to be a plastictrim around the outside of the current mirror.
    Again love your videos very informative
    Thx CLiff

      Unfortunity. You watched the wrong video. That year avalon had self auto dimming mirrors. There was no way for you to take this mirror out. You needed on of my Fitover mirrors. It seems youtube thows these messages at me with strange dats. So to everyone who reads this go to this video where you could just put my mirror over the exsising mirro, and the heating element will work. Buying a Burco 5440h was way the wrong part. Just like my dryer repair . Tons of men making videos but can never send to find one that is addressing the issues that I deal with. I guess us girls need to start making some videos too 😒

      You are right in the way that on this Pacific Truck I might and should have shown how to put the frame back on the motor. However if I had shown it everybody think it would be the same for every frame and motor reattachment. Every motor every frame has its own unique installation. They all have different setups however it is one thing they have in common, and that is a clip situation. You will notice on the frame there will be point of plastic with the clip Edge. So all of them do snap in at some point. Maybe if you write me specific vehicle I can help you out. But it's the same as replacing a window on your house. There is no standard everything needs to be measured size made and replaced.

    • @raytheglass
      @raytheglass  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a really good question Eddie. You can absolutely install the mirror over the bed heating pad or even if it was removed. The only thing you need to do is to tape the wires so that the female connectors do not touch each other. Is possibly could short out the other mirrors. So I always advise it. Very good question thanks Ed

    • @raytheglass
      @raytheglass  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Everyone should wears gloves, and eye wear. No need for tape when removing. As I was saying to use the heat at the middle of the mirror so the frame lip would not melt. The heat will spread through the glass. Patience is the Key for that to happen.
