Thank you for making this. I got it done in under 10 minutes with a replacement off Amazon. I'd also note that if someone does not have the dielectric silicon grease they can also use a few drop of dishwashing liquid. Worked well for me, and an old trick from my plumbing days. Thanks again.
My new mirror had popped out so I found this video to learn how to re-install it. Perfect instructions, especially the tip to use silicone to make snapping it in easier. Thanks!
The older rx models are really great gems, they're truly ahead of their time. It's such a shame that the front dash leather cracking is a universal problem for them :(
Thanks for the video. It's EXACTLY what I'm dealing with. Tried today and couldn't get the metal guide clips off the old one and couldn't snap the bottom tabs in on the bottom of the new one. I hope the mirror will stay on for a day of driving just being held on by the top clips! Will try again tomorrow after giving the metal clips another try and getting the grease.
The clips snapped off the new mirrors trying to install them. I came here to see how someone else did it, but you edited it out, the struggle you had. 😢 it wasn’t as easy as ‘wala’ there it is. You almost weren’t even going to tell us how much force it took, but then thought better of it and at least mentioned it took more than you thought it would take….being they came off so easily. I guess I’ll go buy the oem glass now or just replace the whole mirrors
Any idea where I can buy 2010 lexus rx350 driver side mirror replacement clips? I bought a mirror on eBay but it doesn't come with the clips. I wish I could use the ones from the old mirror, but some jerk stole the mirror and clips.
Outstanding!!! I have a couple of tips to add to this outstanding TH-cam after just now completing the job on both sides thanks to this TH-cam: 1.) Before you start, center the mirror with the controls Left/right in the mirror housing, 2.) With the mirror controls, tilt the mirror as far "Up" as it will go, 3.) Since the both mirror assembly/housings are "break away", holding the mirror assembly with the door closed, swing it forward (don't be afraid you will not break it) with confidence and it will unlock and swing forward giving much better access and ability to see up under the mirror glass when you are first getting started, 4.) Spray silicone spray with the little red tube from the spray can up under the back of the mirror towards the two bottom clips to make it easier for them to "unclip" when you pry with your screw driver. 5.) Just cut the single connector off the old mirror that has the connector snap fit to the old mirror as you will not be using it and it is way easier than trying to disconnect it. DON"T cut either of the single (identical) wires that are next to each other for mirror heating.
On 2006 Toyota Avalon you have to first put on hook-like connectors on the bottom of the mirror and push it in lightly until it clicks and then the top ones will also click without any major pressure. the video is very helpful but on my Avalon 06 that you have to do it as I described on top
You mention the dimming and heat functions but not memory. Is it safe for me to assume that the remote positioning and the auto positioning that occurs with the seat memory settings is a function of the mount only and has nothing to do with the glass?
Thanks. I was using the silicone to lubricate those clips. They are tough to click in, so any little bit helps. I applied heavy inward pressure and shook my hand from side to side at the same time. It feels like you’re going to break it, but then it pops in.

Came across this video becaue someone hit and run and fortunately on the driver side glass cracked on my 08 lexus rx350. Seemed easy enough for someone with no experience working on cars to complete. Got the mirror however it looks like the metal from the heating wires were not clipped on but sautered together. Was that the case for anyone else? Overall great video tho!
My Avalon did this. Passenger side as well. I can’t find a complete replacement mirror that has puddle lights with it 😭😞😞 and the few I’ve found it’s over 400$ I wonder if this would be a cheaper route. My disabled so those puddle lights come in handy at night big tine

Hello. I replaced my side mirrors as they were oozing and dark. I had trouble mounting and one of the mounting tabs bent and broke in half. I am not able to find the part number listed Anywhere. Any ideas. Hope I am not toast. One of them went in perfect!
What are those metal tabs called and how do i find them? my mirror glass got stolen and they took the tabs with them, and now i cant find replacement! Also, maybe u can tell me why, but the mirror wont click onto/ or stay on the two bottom clips at all, just hanging loose on the two top ones 😭😭
I don’t know what those metal clips are called, but they don’t seem to be very important. I think your mirror will stay on just fine without it. As far as why they won’t clip in the bottom, it’s because you’re not pushing hard enough. That’s why I used grease but also pushed very hard to get it to finally click.

I totally agree. And the dash problem really sucks. I tried using a molded cover, but it didn’t turn out great.

Hi what if one clip is missing? One of the old clips is broken from the old one and I can’t find anywhere online where they sell the metal clips
If you mean the long metal guide that I swapped to the new mirror, I would say don’t sweat it. It should work okay without it.

Yes, that’s right. You’ll have to manually (using the controls) re-position the mirror when you’re done, though.

Yes. All of those functions stay on the car. Only the mirror glass is changed.

You won’t find an original replacement new. My recommendation is try eBay or a salvage yard.

Would it cause any electrical issues if I leave everything unplugged?
Yes, if they touch together, they would short-circuit. Make sure the wires are covered, no exposed metal.
