That's so true. I love this presentation and stand 💯percent with your concept. God bless you, yes, fear not saying the truth, because the mainstream makes good money by surgical procedure at any opportunity, knowing that once a muscle and nerves are cut, they will never heal completely, there will always remain scar tissue that will keep those victims their "repeat clients" forever. If people would understand the importance of your words, be contagious to trust nature and miraculous healing powers our body is blessed by, they would save themselves the unfortunate agony for the rest of their lives.
    God bless you ❤️

I’m in excruciating pain! Any time I stand up or sit in a chair, and NO injury. My PT claims it’s herniated. I’ve never experienced such pain. Any time I stand up, my rib in the front start vibrating and the pain is insufferable. 😢

Here we are a month or so later and I seem to be cured! Im not sure if it was time or some of the things I learned on TH-cam. I took the protoeolytic enzymes that this doctor recommended, I drank bone broth as he advised, I drank 3-4 quarts of water a day, I took glucosamine chondroitan as he recommended, and I was in bed for almost three months. Thank goodness I didn’t have to get the shots or surgery which was the next step.

@@christoole6820 I saw a video that talked about protoelytic enzymes that could heal the disc. And I took bone broth. I don’t know if the helped or if it was just time. It’s hard to believe what I went through now that I’m better. I had a herniated disc that was pinching a nerve. The timing of your post is scary because I felt a twinge there today. If this happens again, oh God! There was also a chiropractic technique called the Cox technique. I don’t know if it helped, but I liked the idea of it. I hear you. No one should have to suffer like you’re suffering! I pray you get better soon!

    Hi Dr.
I have always had pretty poor posture, and as I get older (51 this month) I seem to be having much more pain in the lower to mid area of the back. The symptoms you described were right on the money, pain up high in the chest that moves around to just below the armpits. Taking deep breaths, coughing and sneezing, or just moving a certain way would set it off. The pain was so bad that I had a hard time even doing any type of stretching to alleviate it. Went to my doctor who prescribed an anti inflammatory and ordered an MRI. Still fighting with the insurance company for the MRI, imagine that!
Long story short. The other day, I decided to drag out my inversion table and give it a try. Spent about 5 minutes on it and felt no noticeable difference. Went to bed that night and when I woke up the next morning I couldn't believe it, I felt like a whole new man. I don't know exactly what it did, but boy did it make a difference. Now I try to use it at least a couple of minutes each day.

Hey Dr.Mandell, at 18yrs old 2 years ago I believe to have herniated a thoracic disc in the region around T-7. It was do to an accident at the gym; where I hyperextended myself with a load over top causing great compression. The following days after I had radiating nerve pain/itch runing to my legs arms, also unbearable numbness right around the T-7 region, and swelling flared up near T-7 area.
As time went on it worsened, so i decided to see a PT and started increasing mobility, fixing imbalance's, learning exercises to improve and treat my injury. My PT also preformed pistol manipulation causing a great relief, almost like it was cured in a sense. Though my PT was not sure about what type of injury i had, but he thought it to be a vertabrea fracture. So as the years went on and i got a bit better to were it was bearable. I was determined to recover after PT, so I started going back to the gym exercising, working on my transverse abdominis, mobility, stretches and so on. Things were looking good, pain was miniscule and healing process was slow. Its been 2yrs and i still have symptoms flare up.
So My question for you Dr is if any one of the symptoms above i listed a result of a disc hernation or of a compression fracture? because when I apply pressure around the t-7 vertabrea I seem to get a brused feeling and sharp pains right on the vertabrea. Also can i 100% recover from this injury to continue living a active and pain free life? Thanks for your time Dr, God bless!

I am now on opiods and have found some relief but the pain continues and wraps all the way around to my sternum. It is really hard to find information on this. I will look into chiropractic and see if they can add it to my other treatments which include physical therapy, mental health, and several alternative treatments that I am always open too. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Thank you so much for the info:)

I have a pretty bad bulging disc at t2 and another one at t8. I've been watching your videos for a while and they're helpful. Do a lot of my own research but can't seem to find a good exercise to do for the t2 herniation. Trigger point therapy and painkillers is the only thing that helps but I'm still trying to do anything I can to recover from this since its been 9 years and I'm 27 now. My doctors haven't been very helpful in the information department. It's such a rare condition that it's hard to find useful information about recovery

    • @motivationaldoc

I doubt that the condition is stemming only from the T2 bulging disc. Most likely it is a tribute to forward head posture her and other compensatory muscles.

@@mahsun742 Over time, I finally learned how to manage my physical conditions. And Dr Mandell was right about the forward head posture. Even now, if I stay in a position like that for any length of time, I feel it in my neck, shoulders and upper/mid back. I have to stretch and do yoga a lot throughout the day to maintain it. I still work in warehouses and there are lots of things that aggravate my conditions, however good posture and frequent stretching helps a lot. I dont over do anything and I dont twist my back when doing anything. Moving the wrong way is guaranteed to injure you. And moving and lifting the wrong way causes micro traumas that you dont notice until you do something one too many times and then you feel the injury. It's important to know the difference between nerve pain and when you've pulled something in your back because you need to know when to rest and take it easy and when to stretch. It's all a balancing act. I still have issues but luckily most days I am ok and able bodied. I'm 33 now, have been living with these issues since I was 18. I'm doing better now with it than ever. And no longer on pain killers. I dont even take aspirin or ibuprofen. Years ago when I commented on this video, I never thought I would've came this far. And still to this day, no doctor or chiropractor that I've went to see in person has never given me any advice on managing my conditions. It was all my own research and people like Dr Mandell putting out helpful youtube videos. I dont just have the disc herniations and nerve damage. All my joints are messed up from manufacturing and warehouse work over the years. After a while, I realized a lot of my joint problems are because the muscles are tight. So when my low back and knees hurt, it's time to stretch the glutes, calves, and quadriceps. Then my legs feel light as a feather again and no knee pain or low back pain. Once I understood anatomy, how muscles work with each other, and the difference between nerve pain and muscle pain, that was the key to knowing what stretches to do to help any particular issue I was having. Now I just have a constant daily routine of things I do that helps me stay on top of it. I really had to educate myself and listen to what my body is telling me in order to get through this. At one point even the stretches didnt work because I was over doing that and further injuring myself. Always know the limits of your body. Thats the key to not over doing things.

I used to do heavy squats with improper form and I think I herniated a disc in my thoracic spine. I’ve had pain under left rib cage for about 5 years, recently I went to chiropractor to fix it and finally got the back to crack right behind the rib cage now the pain is more intense in my back and radiating to my upper stomach/ lower ribs. If I foam roll and crack the spot on my back the pain goes away for about an hour then it comes back.

Hi, I've had symptoms of excruciating radiating pain to the sternum for over 2.5 years. I am currently 19 years old and used to swim 20 hours a week so was physically fit, I was misdiagnosed for nearly 2 years as having costochondritis. I underwent 3 months NHS physio, had chest x rays, MRI and ECG and everything came back clear. I then had 4 months chiropractor and the pain was still there. A year ago a began suffering from sciatica and for the last 6 month I have been seeing a sports therapist that has diagnosed two herniated disks in the thoracic spine, she uses ultra sound therapy and myofacial release and I do exercises at home. However, I have just tried to gently get back into exercise (30 mins gentle swim) and I am still in excruciating pain. I have put on a massive amount of weight and lost a lot of muscle since the onset of pain and after so long of being in pain I am now seriously considering surgery, what would you suggest? Is there anything else I can do to relieve the pain?

Hello Dr Mandell I'm sure I have this condition and it gets worse if I over extent my spine or flex my neck to much. The pain radiates around to my ribs and is like a stabbing pain. Could it be that these movements compress the vertebrae on the outer part forcing a bulge to push on a nerve? I had an MRI scan that showed nothing but it was in a period without pain. Thank you.

I got to 4 minutes of this video before I just couldn't watch it anymore. he's reciting everything that is wrong about medicine. he spends the first 3 minutes telling you how everyone is more often going to have herniations in their cervical and lumbar spine. and then he says it again. and then he says it again. by this time I'm aggravated because if I had a cervical or lumbar herniation I wouldn't be here watching this video.
number two then he goes on to recite the statistics of how most herniations are in the lower thoracic.yes everybody knows if you look it up that's what you're going to see but what if that still isn't you.
if you're like me and you have a t1 t2 herniation and your dermatome has lost sensory.. and between your shoulder blades aches as if you've been hit with a bat on and off all day..well first off he doesn't even discuss upper thoracic back . then here's the one I love plenty of people have herniated discs and don't have any pain. if I were running the country I would ban statements like this. if any of that statement at all is true then there's a physical scientific explanation.. like the herniation they have missed the nerve.. or they have genetically more space in their foramen than you... but you notice this guy doesn't, the doctor you see won't, and a million.5 articles written on this subject will never explain that it's a fluke when someone doesn't have pain...and if you're fine one day and the next day you can't feel half your body and you have a herniated disc that would affect that half of the body these guys should be thrown into jail for saying it's not related and they...yet the doctors have been pulling these shenanigans for a long time on people sending them in circles.. and causing millions of people to suffer

My back is always very tight and severe inflammation. My inversion table doesn’t work for me, i think because i get light headed. I have started taking turmeric. I’m at my wits end. MiloBaBy09 hey milobaby09, I have a t7-t8 bulge/herniation too. A few years back I needed a fusion at t12-L1, and because I’m unable to bend normally there, it has worn down my spine at t7-t8. It’s gotten progressively worse since my fusion, and I’m at year 4 now.
I’m forced to spend 90% of my day laying flat on my back on the floor. Any standing of sitting immediately activates it, and if I’m up long enough, it reaches 10/10 pain.
PT, and injections have had to affect. I’m trying a stem cell injection into the disc next week. Maybe that will help heal the area a bit.
If anyone has any suggestions, I’d really appreciate it!!! Ty!!

No help from anyone in the medical profession, but i still can’t work, and am in bed most of the day. I have 6 thoracic herniation and from t1 to t12 the are either herniated or bulging, since 2010 I have had burning radiating pain all around my mid section. Numbness and aching pain. I also experience extremly painfull jolts of pain when moving arms, bending, and twisting at times. Can't sit for prolonged periods or stand. Tge burning is horroble. Being under pain management for 11 years. The only thing that has helped are ablation treatments. My life is basically destroyed. Are there any videos that you can do to help someone like me. Hi Dr.
I have been diagnosed with a large T9-T10 herniated disc that is touching my spinal cord. I do get mild pain in the area as well as pain that wraps around my ribs. However, most of my pain is approximately 5 vertebras above the herniation. There is nothing significant in my thoracic area other than the T9-T10 herniation. How is this possible? It is my understanding that pain would travel to the side or down and not up. Please explain. Thank you

The last month I wore neck brace to reduce my back and neck movements as my doctor recommended. I really felt good. However, I toke off the brace this month and I start doing exercises every day for the herniated disc, but the pain start again and I guess it getting worse. Hey Dr, I have numerous Herniated Discs in the Thoracic region along with mild to severe cord compression. I was sitting at a VERY un ergonomically office desk and twisted to my right to put papers in the trash while someone walked by and leaned on my chair causing it to spin resulting in a painful loud crackling noise like a drinking stray in my entire thoracic region followed by immediate tightness ever since. MRIs have showed Herniation's of T2,3,4,6,7, 10, 11,12 etc with T-11 & T-12 having the most damage with visible cord compression and Im always feeling and having a grinding and popping in the area. What type of Dr or treatment would be best for this? PT never worked and Injections only worked for a short time. (Workers Comp Injury) so i been stuck running around from different drs etc and trying to just get better. Injury was from 2012

I've been to doctors but they don't see anything wrong. They tell me to just do stretches and strengthening exercises. I wonder what it could be. It's very hard to sit or stand comfortably, I also get pain in my midback and in the neck, moreso in the mid back or upper midback.

I experienced problems with perinal area (spasm, loss of sensation) at first. I was diagnosed with t11/12 disc herniation - mri suggests that it is the reason as it slightly indirectly puts pressure on spinal cord. Neurosurgeon and many other doctors as well as physiotherapists suggest that it is not the reason. After some time the symptoms involved strange feeling in legs but strength is preserved. Only muscles are stiff and flexed - is it possible to have such a thing from thoracic disc herniation on that level or is it really some cause of cointunuous anxiety??

Long axis traction can be helpful. Although with specific types of tables it is much easier to perform. Inversion therapy can also be helpful for him. Yes, poor is great. Although strength in the glutes may be a big asset for him as well. Stretching the quadratus lumborum and hip flexors would also be helpful in most cases.

We have certain types of distraction tables that actually would do that. Although the only thing I would think of is putting something soft under him flexing his thoracic spine while laying prone. And then using your hands and distracting. One hand would go superior and other inferior. With his health history inversion would not be recommended.

The procedure will be a fusion of the t8-t9 vertibre & also a microdiscectomy at the L4-L5 level. Does having both procedures pose any risks & do u think it's the right choice to make? I have been doin physio for 6 months & I haven't seen improvement in neither my lower or mid back. I have started to experience pain when breathing occasionally, not sure if that's indicating things are getting worst as I haven't been having that sensation till now. I am very nervous as i am told it's a rare & risky surgery, plus I can't seem to find much info which causes me to think it really is rare & is that much more concerning. If you can give me any kind of perspective it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Imran Karagathra I have a t7-t8 bulge/herniation too. A few years back I needed a fusion at t12-L1, and because I’m unable to bend normally there, it has worn down my spine at t7-t8. It’s gotten progressively worse since my fusion, and I’m at year 4 now.
Pain is located at t7-t8 on back area, around my lower ribs, and on my sternum at nipple level (+or-1 inch)
Ty!!

Awesome video! Theres almost zero info on thoracic herniations online. One question sir - im 6 months post injury. I havent had much leg pain, but has been mostly localized in mid right back after throwing a guy over my back in jiu jitsu. Not sure if i bulged or herniated the disc. My back is 90% better, but im still not working out with weights. Is this normal to take this long to heal? My pain has been a 4 at the highest, but now is a 2. But it still affects my life, as i cant work out with weights. Ive read it could take 1-2 years to fully heal, is this correct?

It's a very hard question to answer because of the fact I don't know the evaluation of any orthopedic or neurological findings. Moist heat would be good and yes it can take quite a while of time to fully recover.

You didn't perform the throw correctly ! :) I feel your pain my brother. Been there, done that. Four spinal surgeries. Discs get very little blood flow so the healing process is extremely slow. You should see a physical therapist for exercises to help your core and potentially move the disc back into place. Mckenzie exercises and Cat/camel stretch are good. Also, stretch your hip flexor---- a lot ! Core exercises and prone (hands and knees) alternating one arm/opposite leg making sure you keep your hips stable, no rotating.. Good luck !

    Hi Doc,
I made a sudden movement while sitting 5 months ago and ever since I feel numbness(usually when I bend) in my right midback side only.
However 2 months ago I started feeling neck pain as well. It's stoping me for doing anything and I miss my workouts. Don't know what to do...

I have a bulging disc at T3/T4. Mri confirmed 6 weeks after the damage done.
A chiropractic adjustment with a new chiropractor caused the damage.
It's been hurting for three months.
I am on pain meds for another issue and I still feel the pain. Hurts too breathe at times. Romboids are knotted now.
    Do you have any suggestions?
Most of everything i read is for lumbar or cervical. If my pain medication is not helping this I might need to strengthen my back.
I have fibromyalgia. Low impact exercises.
