    I'm a 17 year old, I've been having thorasic disc herniation and lumbar disc herniation for an year. I was not even able to sit straight for 30 mins, doctor said surgery is needed, but I was scared. So didn't do it, still I did pretty good in my academics, I really got a huge improvement by following medicines and taking rests in my vacation. but now I'm in 12th grade, classes started, the first month was fine. Half into the second month, one day, when I was taking public transport, I felt some kind of pop in the thorasic spine (where I had my disc herniated previously) and since then the pain was crazy and it got relieved after an hour or so, in the same day, after I reached my school, in the physics lab, while I was standing for a long period of time, I felt another pop in the lumbar spine (where I had my disc herniated previously), since then the pain there was also crazy, I wasn't even able to stand. Then after a few days I got relieved. Still, I can't study for long hours. Medicines don't relive me enough. Please, what should I do doctor?? I really want to study, it's my last year in senior school. I need to prepare for my boards and entrance exams. Please help me

      If I were you, I would schedule an appointment to see a Doctor of Chiropractic for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.
      I would also try these two exercises.

    It has been three months and honestly, I feel insane when I tell my physical therapists and doctors about my symptoms. My pain is low in the morning, but I get chest stiffness as I get further into the day that I can relieve somewhat with a muscle relaxer. A hot shower on my upper back makes the chest stiffness appear too. When I sleep, it's the worst when I'm on my back, I feel almost like I'm having heart palpitations, but I"m never sure that they are. If I lay on my side the heart palpitations (likely a pissed-off nerve? I'm not a doctor so I don't know), go away in about 5-10 seconds. I do have poor posture and did have intercostal nerve pain until physical therapy as well as neck stiffness. Occasionally, I get tremors as well. I think it's thoracic spine problems.

      If I were you, I would see a Doctor of Chiropractic for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. If I were you I would perform postural correction exercises and thoracic spine mobilization exercises. Here are links to two of my videos that may be helpful.       Bro that is exactly me, woke stiff in the morning, but imediatly feel better when i start walking, but after 4 of 5 hours the pain creeps in, at the lunch break it subsides. It is really annoying when i lie down on my back too, the best position is on my stomach, but that isn't that good for the neck. Also it gets really bad when i sit down, this is happening to me for the past 6 weeks, mri confirmed 3 small herniations between t7 and t10, all degenerated discs.

    I recently injured the middle of my back after foam rolling and hanging on a bar for a minute. It’s been difficult to drive for a long period and using that treadmill. I feel it thru the middle of my chest.

      If I were you, I would see a Chiropractor for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. I would request x-rays to rule out a fracture. If a fracture is not present, I would receive consistent Chiropractic care to remove the source of the symptoms. I would also request an MRI to see if a disc herniation exists.

    Everytime I get in my car to drive only after about 15 minutes I start to get breathless and numb in left hand.. when it was really bad it went to both, I’ve had to pull over several times at its worst point it felt like my sides were caving in. I’m sore all the time in mid and lower back. Took mri for neck and brain both were fine. Bending over for basic things will eventually lead in lower tightness.

      @@drdozellodc I had head and neck mri it came back well. The tightness in lower back is concerning, I’m just feeling that pain and over all a sensation telling me it’s hard to breathe. Been seeing a doctor fighting insurance for mri on lower back.

    I have T4-T5 nerve route compression with no spinal cord compression..... Can it though your nervous system off? I have anxiety etc since it happened

    What is the best sleeping position with a thoracic spine herniated disc? I have this as well as a torn left calf and right leg shin splints... 😢

      If I were you, I would sleep on my back. If I couldn't do that I would sleep on my side.
      Ergonomics and Body Positioning: Supine Sleeping
      Pillow should hold cervical spine in line with thoracic spine. Neck should not be pushed into flexion or protraction by a pillow that is too high. Neck should not fall into extension or retraction by a pillow that is too low.
      Pillow should support head and cervical spine.
      Shoulders should be held to 90 degrees of abduction or lower.
      Hips and knees flexed. Pillow or wedge under knee and/or lower legs.
      Ergonomics and Body Positioning: Side-Lying Sleeping
      Pillow should hold cervical spine in line with thoracic spine. Neck should not be pushed upwards into lateral flexion by a pillow that is too high. Neck should not fall downward into lateral flexion side by a pillow that is too low.
      Pillow should support head and cervical spine.
      Shoulders should be held to 90 degrees of abduction or lower.
      Patient should attempt to sleep on non-affected side.
      Hips and knees flexed. Small pillow or leg separator between knees.

    Have you ever had a patient who couldn’t sit or stand from the pain. I went to my chiropractor and they thought I was in to much pain for chiropractic. I got every other test at two ER visits with no result.

      Yes, I've seen very rare cases of extreme pain that prevented a patient from sitting or standing. If I were you I would ask the chiropractor to use the handheld chiropractic adjusting tool (AKA activator) to adjust me the first several visits.

    i have no sharp pain ...very little uncomfortable when study on floor(laying too down) but not on desk ....but i feel pain when i press that point

    I have a pain in t6 7 and 8 what can i do yesterday I was seeing a chiro doc ans she said i have to do an MRI to conform what i have a problem in there what i have to do please give me advice. This problem is created when one of my friend press there like chiro doc do now i have a pain while i try to stand up straight while waking up from the bed when i try to bend my neck while lying down on the bed while trying to do sit up while running. Sometimes i feel extreme pain sometimes I don't. So what i have to do sir please reply.

      If I were you, I would get an MRI to determine the proper diagnosis. Once a diagnosis is established, I would immediately begin treatment and rehabilitation exercises.

    I was being made to lift heavy stuff at work, i ended up getting a t6-t7 disc herniation thats posterocentral and 3mm x 6mm also later an osteopath said i also had a rib sprain on my left side also muscle damage, the whole upper back and shoulders and neck were in so much pain, burning pain down left of spine, tingling, prickling, nerve pain, stiffness in the whole area, my left side went completely stiff, my neck was tingling and felt like a band was across my shoulders, i could feel the disc, i couldn't sleep, there is some improvements but it's still very weird and getting lot's of tingling and sometimes the upper spine itself feels stiff and it's been over 3 months. How many mm is serious in the thoracic area? Do you think it will get better? I'm worried because mine is central. I am 29yo and i also have sjogren's syndrome and worried how autoimmune might affect the injury too.

The "seriousness" of a disc herniation depends on several factors, including size and direction of the herniation and size of patient's spinal canal. If I were you, I would see a Doctor of Chiropractic on a consistent basis and perform rehabilitation exercises on a consistent basis. Ask the doctor for general and specific exercises for a thoracic spine disc herniation. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you so much for this video. I think I've been fooled and I'm so disappointed in myself. I had all the symptoms of your typical thoracic spine disc herniation. I did a good bit of over head weighted squats sometimes my own body weight and some Olympic lifting. I went to a physical therapist in June (been going every week until now) who told me some of my issue could be related to my pelvis which was off by 2". He worked away for months and informed me that I could do no exercises at all only walk. To say I was gutted is an understatement. I was super fit and strong for my weight, I feel like I have lost all that I have worked for, my head space ain't good either and then the pain and discomfort just adds to it all. Until last week I was going to him but I've just messaged to say I'm not going anymore. Over the past month he did say it was my thoracic spine and started to treat it but I'm still not allowed do any exercise or treatment and I'm still in pain. I'm going to get a referral today for an MRI which I probably should have done along time ago. I hope there will be no delay with this but until then would you suggest I follow the links you provided TJTJ below? Many thanks.

      Just did the cat cow exercise. The cow felt good however the cat didn't. If you don't mind giving your opinion on what that may be? Thanks again

      If I were you I would avoid all exercises that elicit or intensify symptoms. I would see a Chiropractor for evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. I would request x-rays and an MRI of the thoracic spine (like you stated in your comment.)

    I had a car accident which left me with herniated disc in T-8 😢. PT only made it worse my pain . After a year my pain got better , I can finally sleep but if I lift heavy things my back comes back or if u seat too long .
    Is there any therapy to treat herniated disc at T-8?

      If I were you, I would see a Doctor of Chiropractic for treatment. I would also attempt the McKensie Protocol Exercises. These exercise are designed for Lumbar Spine Disc Herniation and Lumbar Spine Disc Bulge but may also be helpful for Thoracic. Here is a link to a video I made describing these exercises.     i am suffering from thoracic herniated disc for last 2 months as you told my pain is migrated from my back to ribs and it is very severe pain doctor and when i took medicine i feel all good ... (Means diclofenac) And after the 8-10 hours pain comes back please help me doctor.....

    Just left a comment dont see it so ill type it once more. I have been suffering for over a year with rib pain started on one side and it does move around then after a year moved to the other side now it is on both and simi close to the middle of the stomach and has recently started in my chest with this dull pain that seems to make me not like the cold as much i think because im already tender and the cold makes the muscles tense but yea and now in my groin area feels like dull pain. i do have a broken sternum that ive had since i was 18 and its broken bad and im 34 always cracking snapping and popping. maybe that has something to do with it. i feel like it started after a hard workout coming off the sofa after a year of not working out just working at work. what do u think? it does feel like a nerve pain and when i press directly on it its a sharp pain but not a pain thats too bad but is sharp and feels like a nerve pain but idk anything

      If I were you, I would see a Doctor of Chiropractic for evaluation, imaging, diagnosis and treatment. The treatment should be on a consistent basis. An MRI of the Thoracic Spine will show a disc herniation. I would also see a massage therapist on a consistent basis to help reduce the muscle tension in the spine and rib cage.       Never perform an exercise that elicits or intensifies symptoms. If I were you, I would focus on body weight exercises and increase intensity in small, gradual calculated increments.
