The $3750 credit is not a mistake. The rules for the full credit changed, based on how much of the content is built in the USA. Since the batteries are Chinese-made, you no longer get the full credit on this car.
I test drove a Mach E Premium yesterday. The Infotainment screen was nearly instant, no delays like this video shows. More importantly the ride and build quality were noticeably better than the Tesla Model Y.
@@Fitforacting You mostly find markups on vehicles that are in limited supply. Early this year Ford made changes at the plant to greatly increase production, so you are not likely to find marked up Mach E's, unless the dealer is really stupid ( the buyer would just go to the next dealer).
One thing that makes the Mach-e a front trunk more usable than teslas not mentioned is that it’s drainable, making it useful for tailgating or just an extra ice cooler
Fair point. Would the frunk issue determine your purchase one way or the other? Drain seems really smart. Mach e could have 2 drains and my choice would be model y. Mostly bc of the stealership experience, that's my tipping point.
@@borshardsd it’s just pointing out one feature. Competition is good and while you may have had mark ups, and ford ordered through Ford does not and the price is stated on your order. None the less, there are people who have different reasons for different things. Model Y may be better, but if you live in somewhere like central PA where the nearest tesla dealership is 2 hours away, it’s horrible peace of mind. It’s bad form to just go straight to why X is better than Y(irony) when people have different needs and when one person said the Mach E was better, he got death threats. Just let the cars be what they are and the market will decide
Hi the biggest problem is it loses money on every car. How long will that work for Ford? Tesla makes 19% on each. I like the Tesla plan more. Take care M.
@@marctech1996 As someone who has purchased at least 50 vehicles over the years, if you include business purchases, I'd have to say I completely disagree. Dealerships are your advisory and their main goal is to take as much money from you as possible. There is no need for a middleman, this is 2023. Nothing they do cannot be done elsewhere only better.
Totally agree!!!! I have been buying (and trading in) cars for 40 years now and I will NEVER set foot again in a dealership. The Tesla buying experience cannot be beat. The fact that Tesla is a 100 electric car company helps in how they deal with their customers, their cars and their service network, and the updates!!! Nothing compares. I don't know, but dealing with car salesmen just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
@@markeh1971 They are not really losing money on every car, it's just an accounting result. They are including the money "lost" by building new factories. The plan is to "lose" money for the next two years while infrastructure is being built and capacity is increased. Tesla did the same thing (except they lost money for almost 10 years). How did that work out for Tesla?
My wife has a Mach-E and I have a Tesla Model Y and I really like them both a lot. They both have more strengths than weaknesses and each are very good in their own right. I will say I have been incredibly impressed with the Mach e build quality, and battery performance has been very similar between the two given both are long range versions. I’m a tech-gadget guy so I love the Tesla along with its styling whereas my wife wanted something that wasn’t as big of a leap from an ICE vehicle but had strong tech features as well, and the Mach e delivered on those attributes in spades. You can’t go wrong with either really but cudos to Ford for making a great EV (just remove the Mustang please 😊)!
My biggest gripe with my model Y is that there essentially is no blindspot warning. It still is up to the driver to determine from the display, whether the car you see is far enough back to change lanes. Also, after 2 weeks of ownership, I still have nothing, nada, zip for parking assist. My 6 year old Nissan did a much better job of both blindspot monitoring and parking assist. It's a good thing that it is damn fun to drive.
Weird, my model y stopped me from moving when someone was in my blindspot, it also shows cars in red on the screen when they are in the blindspot and you moving would likely cause a crash.
@@miracle23us I've heard it will do that but to me that is a reaction to a possible collision, not a warning. The red vehicle thing could work if it was displayed before you start moving over. Also, it's my understanding that you have to be crossing, or very close to crossing the line. That's too late. That is going to freak out people in the blind spot. Every car I've owned with blind spot monitoring has had a flashing light in the side mirror to warn you, regardless of whether you intend to change lanes or not.
I have actually driven the Mustang Mach-e and I've confirmed blue cruise works on any road, but you are required to keep your hands on the wheel for roads that are not pre-mapped, you can take your hands-off with eyes only on pre-mapped roads
The first EV I ever test drove was a Mach E, it was nice and impressive. I then decided to try a Tesla before buying a Mach E since they had been making them for a while longer. I was immediately convinced the model Y was so much more refined. I own a model y now.
In our hunt for our first EV, we were more impressed with the Nissan Leaf than the Ford offering, even before considering the price difference. Next car will be a model Y, but meantime still loving our Leaf.
The word "refined" is not something I'd ever associate with Tesla. I couldn't wait to get rid of my 2021 Model Y because of its lack of refinement - panel gaps and misalignments (both inside and out), buggy software, multiple cameras that had to be replaced because they just stopped working, bumps, rattles, road noise, and maybe the worse damping of any car I've ever owned. I've got a Polestar 2 now and love it. The fit and finish is leagues better than the Model Y.
@Casey Christian I have an anecdotal story too about a roommate who purchased a polestar, from the dealer could not get the car's sensors aligned. Months have gone by and they have not fixed the issue. She's now looking for a non polestar ev and fighting to get her money back.
Thank you for the really helpful review! I’m pretty sure a Mach-E Premium AWD will be my next car. Since I’m not in any hurry I can plan the purchase and this review helped identify some of the little things that may annoy me just enough to make me regret an early purchase. The UI lag is a big one. I wish they could figure out how to allow a user to have a top tier smartphone plugged into the vehicle to provide some processing for the vehicle. I have heard Ford experimented with user downloaded updates from home and love the idea of less service appointments. Thank you again for a great review and I very much appreciate some of the really informative comments it inspired!
As somebody who works for Tesla, literally driving 30+ a day 5 days a week, and owns a Mach E as a daily driver, I can assure you that Tesla screens have a lot of lag time depending on the vehicle. Even sometimes with the 2023 S and X the screen lag is terrible. I personally use the knob on the screen in my Mach E FAR more than the steering wheel controls. The ability to use the knob for all of my HVAC, and Heated seats controls, etc. were a very welcome update too. I also think the materials used in the interior of the Mach E is far nicer than the Tesla as well. I use the propulsion sound as it helps prevent me from speeding. The heads up display instrument cluster can be changed so that you have a actual 3D graphic that appears around the speed. The back up camera has another view similar to the Tesla if you don’t want to use the 3-D. Over head view.
@@tspx23 I work for Tesla, I literally drive them all day. I own a Mach E. What’s odd about? I have driven everything from old to brand new 2023 Y, 3, X, S , plaid, etc. Drive Teslas all daily 5 days a week.
The only argument I have about the scroll wheel is my wife often tries to change the volume as a passenger and always miss presses due to bumps, so that's where a tactile wheel would work, but I wouldn't say I like it
The Model Y was my first runner up. I felt like having more old-school manual controls in the Mach-E was a better transition to electrification than the total reliance on the screen in the Model Y. All the start up chiming was because you didn't have your seat belt on. It only chimes twice otherwise. But the point is valid; it's a chatty car. Maybe because I don't have the 'other car' comparison, but my 2023 CA Rt1 screen doesn't feel laggy.
I tried it as well before deciding to buy a Model Y. Wasn’t a fan of the interior and the screens. Also Mach E and especially the GT sit lower to the ground than the Model Y which is no good for where I live. I did like her exterior of the Mach E and the ride comfort. Biggest con is they the Ford did not have a heat pump and many customers complained about a cold cabin and battery drain in a cold climate.
I bought a Mach-E premium AWD over the Model Y for the better ride and interior quality. My Mach-E has Blue Cruise and it has very impressive hands free driving, including lane changes. Overall a great EV.
I noticed that the window buttons are the same as my wife's 21 Escape. The chrome on the ends started coming off within a month or so. The door release looked like it had the same style as the window. Her car had a 42K window sticker. I'm not ready for a 4th Ford purchase at this time. I appreciate your review as always all the information you give. My next purchase will be a model 3 or a Y... I am undecided on which one for now
@@Meatball2022 It was no big deal for me. Ordered the car, tracked the progress online, got notified it was arriving at the dealer, completed my financing on the website. I did have to do the DMV papers at the dealer.
This looks decent. The 229 miles of range is a bit on the low side, especially as we know that these numbers come down in the winter, when you need to run the heater, etc. Even on the base model, I'd prefer a minimum of 250 miles and really would want 275 miles of range or more. 275 miles in the winter will be more like 190 - 200. 229 miles in the winter is going to be 155 and with the terrible charging infrastructure of non-Tesla EVs, I wouldn't feel comfortable driving this 100 miles in January.
@raha mohan I'm looking at cars, just curious why did you get the ionic 5 vs model 3? I'm guessing previously because of rebates there wasn't a price difference. However if you could do it again? And with tesla being alot lower especially after rebates would you go model 3 or ioniq 5
I test drove this. It’s a Stone Age car compared to a Tesla. Plus the guy selling it to me was trying to bundle a oil and filter change package over the $7000 dealer markup.😂😂.
@@dotsmada2855 🤣 that had me laughing for a minute. My friend asked the salesperson how many gears the car has. He said probably 8 or 9 but ford does not disclose that since it’s auto gear only. We told him the Tesla had 20 gears just to mess with him 🤣 I am not kidding.
@@renes9966 None of the other EV manufacturers have the software done right. They do not provide free updates. The Ford CEO said its due to legacy car manufacturers using multiple vendors and multiple software providers. The screen responsiveness was utter garbage like phones from 2010. It was hard to wait for a simple setting to load while driving. The software UI is so convoluted that you have to dig in to find what you're looking for. Paying a subscription for software updates is not my thing since Tesla does it for free. The auto drive feature is absolutely trash. Basic functions are ok. Plus I cannot deal with one more Car salesman. Not to mention the dealer added package for over $7000 when I didn't need any of that. None of the 2 dealers I visited were interested in selling the EV. They thought I am insane. Plus as of now, it's very hard to find a working charger while driving long distances. So the car is pretty much a local drive thing or its dead weight.
Love my Mach E; mine doesn’t beep like yours, the sound is the same but it’s much slower (like half tempo) and there are fewer of them. Weird that’s changed and is different on yours.
Since this video came out, Tesla and Ford announced that Ford would also be using the Tesla Supercharger network, so the charging issues has greatly improved.
IMHO audio feedback for your speed when you accelerate is a great feature. Wish my Tesla had it. It's so easy to go too fast before I realize. I also like the clock only dark screen mode. There's a web site I use that kinda sorta does that.
FYI. Since this video was made you can buy adapters to go from Fords 1771 connectors to the Tesla connector and charge on the Tesla Non Super Charger ,(Destination), network. I too have experienced an issue with the ChargePoint stations. Two of the four stations I choose near my location ,didn't work. There is talk that within a 6 month time frame Ford Mustang E folks will also have access to the entire Tesla network.
As an older driver, who's learned to estimate vehicle speed by the sound of the motor, I found the propulsion noise feature to be helpful in preventing me from driving too fast. After I got used to the car, I turned off propulsion permanently. But it was nice during my first month in an EV.
Suggestions: 1. drive it after sunset and see how the info screen impacts your night vision. 2. Drive it in winter conditions (e.g., when the driver is wearing gloves).
The ride quality being a little better in the Mach E could be the fact that the tire is a 225/55/19 where as the model Y is a 255/45/19 the difference here is almost half an inch more sidewall which helps for dampening. It could also be the Mach E’s 225/60/18 trim which would be almost a whole inch more sidewall than the model Y long range
Tesla is a computer on wheels. While their fit and finish is not the best, their UI, drive unit. battery management and the buying experience is unrivaled. I will remain as a Tesla user for a long while.
I think that's very accurate. Although, the Teslas that are being built in China have much better build quality than the ones being built in the US. Maybe Tesla can address that.
@sean borshard what happens if someone accidentally pushes the direction button while your neighbor ladyfriend Is fellating you? Car on. -- Forward/Back -- Throttle is good.
Nice review. I test drove the Mach E about a year ago when Elon purchased Twitter and I thought I should sell my Tesla. I liked the Mach E, but ended up swallowing my pride and keeping the Tesla because it was a better car in every way. That said, driving dynamics of the Mach E are very close to the Tesla and there is little to choose between the two in this one area, save for the fact the Mach E has a huge hood that obscures what's immediately in front of you, whereas the Tesla gives an unobstructed view of the near-field. The infotainment system and state of the non-Tesla charging networks are two of the greatest differences between the two vehicles.
That's my biggest gripe about a car UI's. Apple has gotten us so used to very responsive UIs in their iPads that when you start using a vehicles UI it seems so sluggish and outdated. Tesla's was the first one I used that actually had the responsiveness of an iPad. I think other companies are realizing this and will hopefully step up their game. Also, one big advantage of not having buttons everywhere is that it makes it much easier to keep clean. While the Tesla could use maybe a few more for things you would typically use when driving (like AC), many cars include buttons for everything that you rarely if ever use.
Same here. Tesla and Rivian have shown the industry it can be done. I would love to see an in depth interview with actual engineers and explain to us while these UI's move at the pace of a 1995 desktop computer.
@@joemcdonough7509 I'm betting it's because legacy auto outsource this type of stuff and just look for the cheapest possible that's somewhat functional. They aren't tech companies like Tesla & Rivian. They will need to change if they want to compete.
@@joemcdonough7509 Also, having the ability to actually update the UI and improve it is a huge deal. There's always things that could be added or improved upon that would be impossible to do in most vehicles without buying a whole new car. OTA updates should be standard going forward.
As a Mach E owner your comments around ride quality is interesting we believe it is way to bouncy. Online forums confirm this is a issue for many. BlueCruise that’s not at 1.2 version can ping pong in the lane. Phone as a key can be flakey as well. Otherwise a great car to own the past year. I would recommend to others with the caveats I shared.
I totally agree on the start/stop button. Instead of a start/stop button it should be an on/off toggle or rocker switch. The “start” button harkens back to the manual intermittent operation of the electric starter motor needed to get an ICE running / idling. With an ICE the needed starter motor operating time varied depending on how well the engine was tuned and the temperature and similar factors. There isn’t any analog with an EV - an EV is on or off with no manual intervention in between. If there’s any user control on an EV it should be an on/off rocker or toggle, so it’s clear and unambiguous what mode the vehicle is in.
@@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis A Tesla has no switch at all so it's already been proven that there's no need. It knows when someone is in the vehicle. If for whatever reason you absolutely just need to turn it off while in the vehicle you can do so within the screen but I've only used that for cleaning the screen.
You didn’t use Blue Cruise at all because you weren’t on a designated roadway. When Blue Cruise is activated, the drivers screen turns dark. Blue Cruise 1.2 in this car is improved with better lane centering, speed adjustments to curves, lane changing, and the ability to move slightly away from big trucks as you or they pass. Blue cruise 1.3 is on the way.
Hello Irvine neighbor! This was BY FAR the most informative review of the e ‘stang I’ve watched so just wanted to say thank you. Would love your thoughts on the Lightning or any other Model Y competitors as competition is heating up!
15:24 if the steering has too much "give" as you say, why not use Unbridled mode then? The responsiveness of Engage is that way to balance comfort with performance. For you not to know that is surprising considering your channel content. also unbridled isn't going to change how fas the car accelerates, it only changes responsiveness, as it clearly stated when you switched to it.
Given how "clean" the dash is, they should've sprung for a more enticing dash board design. Like cool ambient lighting, (fake?) wood, some cool textures, idk.
I don't understand why you keep testing the base models - you did the same with the Ioniq 5. I literally don't know anyone who buys the base models except a car rental company. So many of the more interesting features that I want to see reviewed are only available on the higher end models.
One reason that I can think of is that glass roof - it's just too hot where I live to want all of that glass over my head. The Select is the only one that I would really consider for that reason. Oh, and the new LFP batteries will only be available at first on the smaller battery RWD cars, which I think is a major selling point for the base car.
Just a few reasons why we preferred and bought a Mach E GT over a Tesla Model Y 1. no Android Auto or Apple car Play -- we use google maps extensively, and having the ability to seamlessly navigate from saved locations on your phone is amazing. Additionally, Google Search is the best in the industry -- as we listen to a lot of non-english music, google search is great at identifying and playing said media. (Model Y i dont think supports TH-cam music just yet and does not tap into google voice search API) 2. driver display -- albeit small, i personally find it very necessary for overall drive experience. 3. Actual buttons on the steering wheel, mirrors, glovebox ... and most importantly Garage door opener (Home link) -- which i think is an add-on software for the model Y? 4. Cockpit layout -- and fit and finish of the materials and passenger side lumbar adjustment (no real need to analyze the car fit and finish upon delivery -- its a hit or miss for the Model Y (gotten better over time) 5. Ability to lease and then buy the car Rest of the drawbacks listed here is absolutely fair. 1. infotainment responsiveness seems like a cell phone from the ~2010s (but as you have physical buttons for most the things u need -- one doesnt muck around with the screen too often) 2. charging network for all non-teslas leaves much to be desired. 3. overall software experience in non Teslas are really lagging.
Interesting. I could care less about those 5 things you mentioned. For me, Tesla has a superior supercharging network, over 11 years experience making all electric vehicles, styling, performance, range...all unmatched by competitors.. even to this day.
The only advantage I see for Mach E is Apple Car Play. But a Mach-E GT starts at $60k ($56k+ after federal tax credits) vs a Model YP is under $55k ($47k after federal tax credits). I'm not sure if I want to pay $9k+ more just for Apple Car Play and some of the other listed differences... 🤔
One thing I find interesting is their choice of putting the screen in portrait mode, as opposed to landscape. Who wants to watch TH-cam videos in portrait mode? You have a gigantic screen but it won't be taken advantage of.
The most important long term care cost is to figure which car has a longer battery life? That will be the final analysis in terms which one is better for the total cost of ownership, if all things are equal?
Loved the Mach-e GT. It was the car we wanted. We settled for the model Y because it saved us 15k. The model Y felt like settling. It lacks the personality of the Mach-e but it was far more practical as we need to be able to tow.
The Mach E can tow but Ford does not recommend it in the U.S. despite allowing it in Europe. The max load is 1200-1300 kg, about 2700 pounds. After market tow hitches are available.
So there needs to be a correction made here. Most of the quote" lagging is animations that are being played for the change in screen. This is the same thing on your phone where you can go in and change the speed of your animations. I understand that someone on an Apple device wouldn't understand this, but people on other devices actually have the option for those animations to be changed. Ford chose to do a certain amount of blending between their screen changes...
I had a 2022 Mach-E California Route 1. My wife's Niro EV in winter got 230 miles range in winter. The Mach-E barely got 200 miles. Ridiculous. Looks good but the infotainment is absolute trash. Phone as key never worked, phone constantly disconnected and wouldn't reconnect until a full factory reset of the infotainment. Their app constantly wouldn't work at all. Last but not least, the dealer was absolute garbage and should be the poster child for getting rid of all dealerships. I got rid of it asap.
You mention Apple CarPlay and self drive towards the end. I consider dropping CarPlay a big mistake since my ability to open CarPlay in my new Bolt made me feel right at home. I guess I’ll wait and see what they offer in the new car and if or how I’ll be able to use Apple Music or Amazon and Google maps without CarPlay. Meanwhile your video, again, is Much Better than many other videos out there that are filled with hype and distracting music. Thanks!
I enjoyed your video which was very informative and professional. I bought the Chevy Bolt EUV which we Love but I’ll be looking to trade in my Honda CRV Hybrid and I’ll want to go full EV but with longer range so I’ll want to look at all the models; Nissan Aria, Chevy Blazer, Honda Prologue, available in 2024. Your video was very useful in helping me consider the Ford Mustang as an option.
In regards to the Blue cruise, the base trim does not have the "hands free", it has the software needed to use it but you have to pay for it. Any other trim does come with it :)
I think the physical buttons and stalks in the Mach-E are the bare minimum in order to have the driver maintain maximum concentration on the act of driving, especially if the driver is driving alone
I see you were at the District - just a stones throw from our Kia office. 😊. My partner has a Model Y and the only thing I don’t like is the very darty feel of the steering. I sneeze and drift 4 lanes without any input on my part. I am glad the Mach E steering is more forgiving. Not sure I could get used to the Tesla. Great review.
I have a 2023MY...delivered to my door in perfect shape...500 miles later absolutely no issues...friend has the 2023 MACHE GT...similar experience...folks need to remember these are relatively new designs and will get better over time...comparing a 2021 to a 2023 is just plain disingenuous...
The chimes are a weird UX thing and it seems like it should have been caught in testing. It reminds me of how credit card readers used to have that horrible sound to tell you to remove the card and everyone thought it was an error sound. And eventually they changed it to a friendly sounding ding.
Nice review of Mach E. I would like to see Part II to cover BlueCruise 1.2 in depth 1) cell technology use, is modem upgradeable like Tesla?, 3) trial period, 4) cost, 5) are OTA updates supported (software & hardware)?, 6) is wifi OTA updates supported? Seems to me Tesla OTA is a decade ahead of others or I cannot find correct info. Also, cost of Ford use of Tesla charge stations. Also base model seems to have mediocre radio, manual lift gate, etc on $50K vehicle. Also, why do higher trim levels require glass roof. Roof is heavy, fragile, hot. I do not understand the demand. This info is not mentioned on most generic reviews. Thanks
I have a conventional car with both knobs and steering wheel radio controls. I seldom use the steering wheel controls. I use the controls on the actual radio
Can someone explain what one pedal driving mode is? I’m just starting to look into what I want as my first brand new car and I currently drive a bucket, so I am not educated on new features in cars.
One pedal mode allows the vehicle to slow down by using the vehicle’s regeneration motor when you reduce pressure or take your foot off the throttle. The vehicle will gradually come to a complete stop as if the brakes have been applied lightly. With a little bit of practice you never have to use the brake pedal, other than in an emergency.
I wish Tesla would come out with an add on power frunk as an accessory, rather than have to buy an aftermarket unit which would void their warranty for that part of the Y. Also on my wish list is to make enhanced autopilot a 1K add on. Hope Elon is listening 🙂
I'm still shocked Consumer Reports rates AutoPilot poorly due to safety concerns, when Bluecruze doesn't even let you know when it's engaged, very unsafe IMO
As a Mach-E owner, I think the biggest issue with the Mach-E is software. I think the Mach-E is beautiful and well put together, but the software needs improvement. Ford has been trying to stay true on their promise with OTA updates, but they’ve got a lot of catching up to do still. Also the start button is extremely unnecessary. I hope in the future they enable an option to not have to use it when the fob or PAAK is present.

I test drove a Mach E Premium yesterday. The Infotainment screen was nearly instant, no delays like this video shows. More importantly the ride and build quality were noticeably better than the Tesla Model Y.
I believe it. What was the markup though?
I’m very impressed with my 2023 Ford Escape PHEV. Huge screen with smooth operation and awesome features.
@@Fitforacting You mostly find markups on vehicles that are in limited supply. Early this year Ford made changes at the plant to greatly increase production, so you are not likely to find marked up Mach E's, unless the dealer is really stupid ( the buyer would just go to the next dealer).
@@lenm2857Not only that, Ford has been threatening dealers pretty heavily that are marking up these vehicles.
@@Fitforactingthey’re not really marked up much anymore since ford overproduced them
One thing that makes the Mach-e a front trunk more usable than teslas not mentioned is that it’s drainable, making it useful for tailgating or just an extra ice cooler
You can also release the frunk using the number pad on the driver side b pillar
@@batgraeme that is incorrect
Well, the fact that the hood on the Mach E isn’t as flimsy as the tin can that Tesla uses for their hood, makes the Mach E frunk much more usable!
Biggest problem with getting this car is that you will need to go through a dealership.
Hi the biggest problem is it loses money on every car.
How long will that work for Ford?
Tesla makes 19% on each.
I like the Tesla plan more.
Take care M.
There are plenty of long term advantages of going through a dealership if you have a good one (which is admittedly a big if).
I love mine, also I like how the frunk is a cooler that drains when the ice melts.
I own a Mach e gt performance. That was a very fair and balanced review.
How do you like it
For a first mass level EV, (for a legacy carmaker), bravo! Well done! Keep up the great work Ford! The best is yet to come!
Th Mach E is a good start
I have had blind spot monitor in my car since 2016.
This is really odd that a modern Tesla would omiss 😮
Get a Mach E and it's superior in nothing but blindspot warning. Smart......not

The first EV I ever test drove was a Mach E, it was nice and impressive. I then decided to try a Tesla before buying a Mach E since they had been making them for a while longer. I was immediately convinced the model Y was so much more refined. I own a model y now.
Our son test drove a Mach E, very unimpressed. He ended up with a Tesla and loves it.
In our hunt for our first EV, we were more impressed with the Nissan Leaf than the Ford offering, even before considering the price difference. Next car will be a model Y, but meantime still loving our Leaf.
Good shares! I gotta test drive other evs still but own a m3 lr. Hoping aptera ad canoo put out competitive products
What a lot of us have done with older teslas is upgrade the screen’s CPU to a modern intel atom. I wonder if a similar upgrade is possible in these.
As someone who dailies a Ford you can assure that Tesla has laggy screens? Seems odd.
You should check the 3/Y screens. Super fluid.
@@tspx23 I work for Tesla, I literally drive them all day. I own a Mach E. What’s odd about? I have driven everything from old to brand new 2023 Y, 3, X, S , plaid, etc. Drive Teslas all daily 5 days a week.

@@schism480 What do you think of Tesla's overall? Good? Mediocre? Bad?
Nice overall review and pretty darn fair assessment. (BTW, your channel was one of our inspirations when we started our Mach-E channel. Great work!)

Idk if you’ve heard it in person but it doesn’t really serve any purpose and sounds kind of silly.

Interestingly Ford just announced they can use the Tesla supercharger network starting next Spring.
The problem is that the legacy manufacturers are not tech companies and have no UI talent.
Nice work,Ryan. But Dealer ships so suck. I live 300 mile to the closest service center. But my Tesla Y don't care. nor do I.
If you put on your seatbelt before starting, the warning chime doesn't chirp.
Hand’s free Blue Cruise only works on limited access highways. On roads like you are on it is a form of lane assist only (hands must be on the wheel).
There just doesn't need to be a button at all.
@@dotsmada2855 there definitely needs to be some kind of switch to make sure it is off.
@@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis A Tesla has no switch at all so it's already been proven that there's no need. It knows when someone is in the vehicle. You didn’t use Blue Cruise at all because you weren’t on a designated roadway. When Blue Cruise is activated, the drivers screen turns dark.
Just a few reasons why we preferred and bought a Mach E GT over a Tesla Model Y
1. no Android Auto or Apple car Play -- we use google maps extensively, and having the ability to seamlessly navigate from saved locations on your phone is amazing. Additionally, Google Search is the best in the industry -- as we listen to a lot of non-english music, google search is great at identifying and playing said media. (Model Y i dont think supports TH-cam music just yet and does not tap into google voice search API)
2. driver display -- albeit small, i personally find it very necessary for overall drive experience.
3. Actual buttons on the steering wheel, mirrors, glovebox ... and most importantly Garage door opener (Home link) -- which i think is an add-on software for the model Y?
4. Cockpit layout -- and fit and finish of the materials and passenger side lumbar adjustment (no real need to analyze the car fit and finish upon delivery -- its a hit or miss for the Model Y (gotten better over time)
5. Ability to lease and then buy the car
Rest of the drawbacks listed here is absolutely fair.
1. infotainment responsiveness seems like a cell phone from the ~2010s (but as you have physical buttons for most the things u need -- one doesnt muck around with the screen too often)
2. charging network for all non-teslas leaves much to be desired.
3. overall software experience in non Teslas are really lagging.

Tik Tok people. Was invented for all those people that couldn’t figure out how to turn a phone sideways to record video. 🤪
Same. I liked it as well but ended up with a Y performance which was cheaper and qualifies for the tax credit.
Meanwhile your video, again, is Much Better than many other videos out there that are filled with hype and distracting music. Thanks!
Ford needs to spend some money on a dedicated charging network. Oh, wait, they don't have any money.
Well, now they cut a deal with Tesla to use their charging network also.
I'm sick of crossovers... can they make a regular Mustang that's electric? That would be something I'd consider.

Hey Ryan. Can you do a similar review for the Polestar 2?
In regards to the Blue cruise, the base trim does not have the "hands free", it has the software needed to use it but you have to pay for it. Any other trim does come with it :)
Yes but u did not mention the speed from zero to 60 how many seconds and how many horse power and how many miles can do
I think the physical buttons and stalks in the Mach-E are the bare minimum in order to have the driver maintain maximum concentration on the act of driving, especially if the driver is driving alone
I see you were at the District - just a stones throw from our Kia office. 😊. My partner has a Model Y and the only thing I don’t like is the very darty feel of the steering. Great review!
After seeing the Monroe Live video of the Mustang Mach E thermal system compared to a Tesla, I would never recommend or buy that Mach E.
I'm driving a mach e and use the frunk more than the trunk. Get the technolgy pack and you'll be able to open de frunk from the fob
Why does the Gear Indicator and selector have P(ark), R(everse), N(eutral), D(rive) and L(?????)?.
Does it have a "Low Gear"?
Probably for higher regen, like the Bolt EV. The Prii that I drive regularly have a Braking option on the selector.
Wish we saw the blue cruise from initiation and not skipped to in progress.
7:17 silly car. The door is not a jar, it is a door 😂
Weird. My Mach E doesn’t chime like that which is quite annoying. And the response with the interface is very responsive/immediate.
I like how Tesla called their car Model S resembling the Model T making it clear that he is bringing a new era into our planet.
=X idk of some are different, but the auto frunk set up I installed was bending the frunk a little. Immediately took them off.
@@borshardsd that’s why I would buy an item like that from tesla directly as it would be under their warranty if they installed it
Did the Mustang phantom brake on you?
Can always tell a So Cal guy..."the [insert freeway name/number here]"... :)
I'm still shocked Consumer Reports rates AutoPilot poorly due to safety concerns, when Bluecruze doesn't even let you know when it's engaged, very unsafe IMO
Splitting hairs with the UI screen speed. Seemed to be quick enough and easy to use.
