Had my Mach e since Feb 21, Premium 2WD, ER battery. Taking it all in, nothing to complain about. No maintenance, rotate tires at home. Solar at home free, no bill for 4 years.. Used EA once for $7.31. Replaced cabin filter myself at 20K for $19.83. Went back to dealer for free 2nd Key Fab. Looking down the road for the next generation battery. This Mach-E is a winner. Better then what most people own today.

Another difference: the Mach-E has a rear window wiper. Hope the 2024 Ioniq 5 will add one. As for the latter's frunk, I understand that in South Korea it is much larger. The reason for the small one here is because regulations require a "release" button inside in case a child crawled in. Rather than add such a button, Hyundai decided to just make the frunk too small for any child in the USA. Let's hope that also changes. As well as making Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wireless.

Good comparison. Each EV has their own strengths and drawbacks. Mine is a 2022 twin to the one you tested: Cyber Gray AWD Limited. We like to travel and have put over 15,000 miles of out-of-state travel on our 5. There is not another EV I would rather have. It is my first experience with a Hyundai. My evaluation after 14 months: the car is wonderful; unfortunately, Hyundai customer service is dreadful.

Very fair and well done review. I have a 2023 ioniq5 and I am very pleased with it so far. I love the roominess and the open feeling ,and the fact that it doesn’t ride overly stiff. I do agree that virtually all new cars are a bit too stiff for the crummy mid west roads. Definitely do not want anything stiffer than my Ioniq5.

I was going to get an Ioniq 5 but ended up with the Mustang Mach-E after taking it for a test drive and seeing it in person. Its a mean looking car. I love the frunk but two big things for me at the time were Plug & Charge and navigation that automatically added charging stops (and didn't add AC charging to a road trip). Hands Free Blue-Cruise has been such a nice feature. Long highway road trips are so nice. I get to focus more on whats going on around me while riding along. I almost feel like a passenger in a taxi. Wireless android auto and apple carplay were another factor even though I ended only using the built in navigation because its so nice. I also assumed/hoped that Ford would eventully bring TH-cam to the Mach-E and I didn't ever see that happening with the Ioniq 5 sadly. I wanted the Ioniq 5 because of the fast charging, vehicle to load ability, also really nice styling but Hyundai took way to long to announce US pricing so I ended up ordering a Mustang Mach-E. Worth the 7 month wait but man was that a serious wait. This was a great video!

Test drove each in Toronto and love both EV's ! Solid platforms and easy to drive and own. The Mach E won me over but it's definitely more expensive. Lots of small quirks but that's to be expected.

Dont like that huge vertical screen on Mach E, wish they integrated it better with the dashboard. I assume its coming from their attempt to copy Tesla. Its time for EV makers to have their own design philosophy. I really like Hyundai/Kia/Genesis in that respect.

@@GOOBENsticks i also drove it and it was uncomfortable, lumber support pretty poor no matter how i adjusted seats. ford is abandoning low down cars. felt like sitting on a bus. low center of gravity is important when you want efficiency (lower drag), faster speed and better driving position that hugs you round corners. also the cargo space length on a wagon is longer and more spatious then on a crossover. crossovers tend to have small trunks similar to hatchbacks. add a level of cringe on top of that such as inappropriate branding for a crossover and the result is a car im truly not a fan off. i suppose its great if you have a bad back, getting in and out of a car and you want a mustang but your back cant get into low cars, in that case by all means get a mach e.

But a non tesla includes several automakers that are adopting NACs (Hyundai is currently discussing switching as well). You also implied it didn't matter the use case.
I owned a Tesla and recommend Tesla to anyone that relies on public charging with any regularity.
But the model Y drive comfort is terrible, thus not a great car for people that value that and my wife absolutely hated it, so I made the switch to something else. I'll deal with 1-3 times a year having to wait at public charging vs driving a worse vehicle for my needs the other 350+ days a year.
It doesn't mean Tesla suck, it's one of the best EVs in my opinion, but anyone that values ride comfort will hate a model Y/3.
Also, where I live a ionic 5 is much cheaper than a Tesla, a fully loaded ioniq 5 is cheaper than a model Y RWD
