I don't think it's strange at all. For most of the people listening to "real" and good music it means a damn lot. Simply because it's not just some kind of sound (like pop or dubstep) but many notes and tones perfectly matched together to create a perfect sound. Listening and making music basically is my life, so I can expect to end it with that as well. I do have such a list as well... But since I won't be able to play them at my funeral unfortunatly, I want a good friend to play them live at least. It took me many years to create a list of only 3 songs (more than 3 seems too much to me), which I can really call "the list of the 3 songs with the most significant impact on my life". Pretty difficult, though. At the moment it is: Pink Floyd - High Hopes Dire Straits - Wild Theme Queen - Too Much Love Will Kill You (Metallica - Bleeding Me) - It hurts too much not putting it on the list.
Brilliant composition. To this day, Knopfler is still underrated. Too bad the crowd couldn't just sit back and let a brilliant artist's music wash over them. Too much screeching. Too much alcohol.

I imagine this was meant to be Going Home but they don't always have a saxophonist. With the Alchemy tour, they were very intentionally playing Going Home as their show closer - figure that's what they intended her as well.
No, it was a conscious decision not to play "Going Home", they never played it a single time on the OES tour, even though they had Chris White as a band member on the saxophone for the whole tour :)

The arpeggio on the final chord is just so gentle and then the harmonic topping it off. You just don't hear that these days. I play a little guitar, badly, but I work on that sort of delicate detail.

I gotta say that this concert took place at the Bullring Las Ventas in Madrid and I can testify of it (I was there and I would recognize the architecture of the building), listening to this amazing, wonderful, marvellous music never ever played before with such tender and sweet touch. I have the Sountrack of The film “ Going Home” on CD on record . It’s all the music in the film. It is just amazing to listen to.

When ever i listen to Mark play those types of half-bends like on 2:17 and 2:39 i get shivers... It's a typical Knopfler trademark.... 😉

I gotta say that this concert took place at the Bullring Las Ventas in Madrid and I can testify of it (I was there and I would recognize the architecture of the building), listening to this amazing, wonderful, marvellous music never ever played before with such tender and sweet touch. Great memories come to my mind with such beautiful music.

+Pablo Casasolas I'm from Madrid and It is not Las Ventas. This concert was at the Bullring in Nimmes(France) in September of 1992. One week later they come to Las Ventas, Madrid (6-10-1992) I was there and It was a memorable concert.
